this is true. but if you tend to hit a slice or a hook and stiff shaft will help fix that. the stiff shaft will prevent the wipping action of the club face. you might wanna go back and grab a 6 iron of both the burners and the r7's and have them in both stiff and reg. swing normally with the stiff shaft and see how you do. And then pick up the regular shafted clubs and take a normal swing but slow it down just a bit and see how you do. You might find that if you swing just a little bit slower you will hit the ball straighter, have a nicer feel, and have a better control over what the ball does. good luck

you might wanna try getting or wearing contacts and buy a pair of gunnar optiks. ww.gunnars.com I used to wear sunglasses and I now I have these. They are meant for for people who work on computer a lot to reduce the glare and brightness of the screen. But one day I got curious and went out to play with them and they are absolutely the best eyeware on the course that I have tried. -
taylormade burner ht irons
golfman43 replied to nothing2prove's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The only that I can think of is the HT gives you a much more loft ball flight. So you could get more spin on the ball if you are at that stage. Also I think the burners are a little more forgiving than the zings are. So i would say do it if you have trouble getting the ball up in the air or if you need a little more club face support. All in all both are nice clubs. I would go to the shop and ask one of the workers if he could tape one up for you so you could try it out. I know for a fact that Dicks will do that for you. Good luck. -
Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?

a box of nike tour D's and a box of bridgestone e6's. And a two taylormade burner gloves. all for free. haha i work there and we needed to clear inventory for the new shipments coming in. -
I agree. 399 for the tour burner is A LOT. Dont get me wrong its a great club but at the pro shop i work at we have it on sale for 139.99. Definitely consider looking at Dick's or another golf store or something because 399 to too high. Now is it the r7 425?

How do you take care of your clubs?
golfman43 replied to SpoiledRotten's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I usually clean off any dirt or grass after every shot. And then after the round Ill make sure to clean them well. I work at a pro shop at one of the local country clubs and its amazing how many of the members but the nicest clubs but refuse to clean them, and by refuse to clean them im talking like cleaned less than once a month. yeah it gets bad -

Need more distance with irons

I would agree with the rest. Try a different shaft and you might find what you are looking for. -
Worst balls you've played?
golfman43 replied to ApocG10's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Top Flite XL 2000. Just horribly bad. -
I tee it up to where maybe a 1/4 of the ball is showing over the top of the driver. Wind behind me i tee it up higher to get the ball going with the wind. Some head wind its teed lower to power through it.

ohh and i use my 56* to really control the ball
-
60* if i need the ball to make a dead stop and my pw or 54* if i need a little roll.
-
It could all be in your head. I know i was the same thing i would be fine on the range and when i would get on the course with some friends i would fall apart. I found my self getting nervous so before i hit the ball when i with my friends i would say just relax. Then when i would hit it i would be fine just like i was on the range.

Agreed with the above post. hands out in front and the ball should be just before your left shoulder, about where an emblem would be on a golf shirt. Also you do seem to be bent over a tad more than needed.

Breaking Through: Easy Courses or Difficult Ones?
golfman43 replied to BigBoy's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
If you have 3 days a week to play golf then i would say the first week play 2 at the harder and 1 at the easy then the following week play 2 at easy and 1 at hard then continue with the pattern i think that might be best. -
Shot an 82 today. 40 on the front and 42 on the back. i had way to many 2 and 3 putts then ever.

Par 4 at a local course. Hit my driver and caught a little wind and a great bounce to just land on the fringe of the green, was about 80 feet to the hole breaking left to right about 2 feet. I hit it up the slope just to try and get it close and it went in for eagle.

quick poll: greenside bunker with no lip
golfman43 replied to doublesuited77's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Hmm I might chip it with a 9 or I might get tempted to grab a 60* and blast it out of the bunker and drop it dead on the green. -
New ball...possibly...
golfman43 replied to Power_fade's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
try the pro v1x, its known for its low spin compared to the rest of the golf balls out there. Also maybe give the Maxfli Noodle a try. I have used a few of them lately and have noticed a little bit less side spin when hit with a driver but just enough spin when i would hit it with an iron or wedge. -
Help me choose my new irons! Beginner!

I would say keep on trying to try out different sets at stores. Even if the shop doesnt have the set you want see if they have any leftys to try. you never know you might stumble on a set you really like. also if pricing is a big deal i would check out ebay for shore. I got a set of taylormade burners 4-pw for $300. you just have to keep looking. good luck -
The 60* wedge is perfect for getting the ball up high, maybe out of a deep bunker and having it land softly. You dont have to worry about it running out.
