So are they designing the ball to only result in less driver distance? Or would it apply equally to lost distance across all clubs?? I do support this however in theory

PGA Tour Schedule, Format, Eligibility Changes
cutchemist42 replied to saevel25's topic in Tour Talk
I do like many elements of this change but I felt the focus on the higher ranked players was needed years ago when most of the podcasts were advocating for it. I do think this creates a quasi minor league within your main league, and i will care even less about watching minor events now, similar to how I handle my tennis watching now. At the same time, I hope they fix the problem WGC events suffer form, and I really hope they heavily incentivize the point structures so the bottom of 60-70 still has a reason to play and not phone it in. I'm also now not sure how I feel about the OWGR rankings for events like these. -
Thoughts on Jay Monahan's Use of the Private Jet?
cutchemist42 replied to iacas's topic in Tour Talk
Right but places with more oversight and competitiveness usually pay their CEOs something commensurate with the amount of business they produce. I think for the quality of CEO they are getting, the PGA Tour is overpaying if Gary Bettman and Silver are making around $10mill for being much more accomplished, especially considering the last year. -
Thoughts on Jay Monahan's Use of the Private Jet?

I'm surprised by how much he makes compared to other higher paying leagues. Seems like an overpayment. The amount of employees also seems a bit high compared to other leagues. That's what surprised me. -
Pants as a requirement on the PGA Tour is lame to me anwlyways. I thought that way before LIV too as someone who got into the sport in his late twenties.

Been seeing many Twitter opinions but there is some legit anti competitive practise on the record in that suit, to some of the smaller businesses that help setup events.

Yeah the tone is definitely different after Pumpkin Ridge.

Westworld's Latest Episode - Golf Scene a Bit Unrealistic
cutchemist42 replied to nevets88's topic in Golf Talk
Only really liked the first season. Bailed midway through the 2nd and sounds like I didnt miss anything. -
I'll be honest, I really enjoyed what I watched. I like seeing the teams turn into nationalities.

Every sport has off seasons though and it works just fine.

I'll be honest off, a portion feels rushed to me, as the WGC 2.0 feels like a tacked-on effort to emulate Livs international events with no real intrigue there. Going to the Middle East is really blah to me considering we were just hating on the Middle East now for 4 weeks. I'd prefer they go to Australia. I personally feel its partially rushed which is why this is being announced now instead of announcing this before Liv took off.
-
I just wish this came sooner as it was obvious LIV was coming and these are changes many have been saying the boring PGA product needed. I still dont understand why we are going to the Middle East though. Wish Australia was getting an event. Also not sure I see TOC as being an event I thought needed the extra juicing?

Now I dont know if LIV ever gets there but I simply wish professional golf had a better structure that was more international. I really enjoy how theATP is organized. Globe trotting with events that feel important that get everyone to show up. I also love the variety of countries and cultures the ATP goes to. I still think there are far too few events where everyone shows up to which is I dont really watch the Tour beyond a few events.

Checked it out a but on YT and it is a better viewing product to me so far. Feels more polished with more golf. CBS could learn something.

Did no one hmmm Google DP World Tour? The jokes write themselves.....

I voted no, and personally feel the anchor putting should be allowed if this is. I personally feel you should roll the ball in however you want and dont see why they like one style over the other.

Does Anyone Still Use "Old" Clubs on a Regular Basis?
cutchemist42 replied to WedgeHead's topic in Golf Talk
I'm still gaming 4-PW,SW from the hand-me-down clubs when I originally started, 91 Lynx Parallax. (They ever had a GW back then 10* of loft difference between the 2) I'm kind of annoyed because it seems like the 2024 groove rule is still going ahead for all rounds played so I might be retiring them for competitive rounds in a few years. -
I do find the PGA product boring and wish there were less events or more variety in them. 52 weeks of strokeplay is boring and I feel sports need offseasons or more weeks in between events to build up narratives and intrigue again. Look at F1 booming right now with people realizing 22 solid events builds up the events more. Will be interested to see the format of this new league as I think Norman's vision back in the 90s was a good start and the WGCs ended up being duds.

Planning a Ryder-Cup Event. Best Way to Handle 3 Person Groups?
cutchemist42 replied to cutchemist42's topic in Golf Talk
Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum by the way. Didnt know where to put a tournament organizeling question that was a private event. -
Hey everyone, Helping plan a golf trip for a bachelor party for next Summer. We are doing a 3day Ryder Cup event where each day has a slightly different formats of team matchplay. (Modified alternate shot, shamble, scramble) Just looking for advice on best way to handle odd numbered groups for fair results. This will be slightly giggle-golf with 2 mulligans and lesser penalties for lost balls. I know its early but someone already asked about odd numbered groups incase someone drops out or we dont get enough for 4-person groups. (Right now got about 18 people) Thought I would think of that now. If its 2 people left out, we are just doing normal matchplay between them. ( might try to get the better golfers in the group to do this) We are just trying to figure out the 3 person format with mulligans involved that would still be fun and fair. (The lone person would be someone comfortable with the situation) -2 simultaneous matches of AvsB, A vs C while giving A extra mulligans? -1 match of A vs B/C doing alternate shot? Give player A 2 tee shots to make up for it? -Player A gets a ghost teammate with a default score? -Some other kind of format? Thanks for the input!!

Well with some recent changes in my life lately, I have barely been able to play proper rounds lately since July. However, I still have been able to hit the range and my driver practice really came through with my first ever Off-the-Tee round getting below scratch for 9 holes, with all par4/5 tee shots having a clear path to the green. Having said that, with such little playing time Ive lost my short game touch and maybe should have spent some range time working on chips. Just really happy to see what my driving has become this year with some work and a more forgiving driver. (TM M2 to Ping G410 Max) I know next year will be a better year with more time to play. https://www.gamegolf.com/player/cutchemist42/round/3115186

I'm so pissed....our rights holder in Canada isnt even airing the Friday matches on their channels or online....

It's a course I see every year on TV. I like US Opens to be venues you only revisit every few years. "But what about Pebble?" I can accept it easier with Pebble as I find the course more interesting on TV and the Pro-Am is an odd event now for who actually shows up. I love Pebble when the full strength field shows up.

I waited a day but this course sucks for a US Open.

Well support did quickly send me out a new cord but it appears it my classic unit that's crapped out with no connectivity. It's weird because it is showing up in my computers device manager. Got 5 years out of it which is much better than most electronics. I think I would buy again if it's still a belt unit. Technically my tags would still work with my phone for tagging but I already know I will hate golfing with a phone in my pocket. Until I decide what to do, it's still fairly easy to create your round online as long as its still fresh in your mind.
