  1. Congrats! They look great. I love mizunos
  2. 6ft putt that goes in. Just long enough to make you sweat and sweet enough to make you win. That is my favorite.
  3. If it works and you're confident with it, I'm not going to argue with it. I have four wedges pw, 52,56,60. the 56 doesn't see much work but I'm considering adding a 64 I've been practicing with. Just not sure what I take out.
  4. To me sandwedges and other wedges are like putters. They don't need to match your bag, they need to look and feel comfortable and inspire confidence. I used to do it in reverse and pick irons based on teh wedges I liked.
  5. I have a wet towel with me on the course. I wipe em down after a shot...that's all. Once a year they get new grips. Ocassionaly I use a brush while I'm playing to clean the grooves on my wedges, but usually the moist towel is enough. When I get home I slather them in wd40.....just kidding. See above. I have a few chatter marks after a couple of years, but that's ok with me. I don't play standard lie and length so most likely not selling on ebay or buying there in the future. If I was I would still just do as above, honestly it's all most pro caddies do as well.
  6. I know golfers that have played a lifetime, enjoy the game tremendously, work on their games, and don't break 80/90/100. It's a hard game I'm not too surprised by stats like that. The beauty of it is that it is also a game that rewards in increments. Shooting par is not everyone's idea of a good round, really is fantastic if you think about it.
  7. No worries. good for me. It's a classic design. thanks.
  8. Thanks. I thought I was buying slightly used and surprised when it was virgin. Are these overstock?
  9. Just bought a odyssey #9 to match my regular putter for $79 on ebay. Been looking around and that now seems very low. I compared to my other #9 and they match in every way. Are there good fakes of these? Or has the price dropped that dramatically? It's brand new with plastic on the grip and a headcover.
  10. I've had the PHX for a couple of months now and my only complaint is that they get hot from time to time. I would love to see a pair that breathes a little more for the summer time. But I still prefer them over any other of my shoes though my adidas come a close second.
  11. My home course, the rough isn't long, but it is heavy. You'll get the occasional flyer lie, overall it's 50/50. But those are some deep lies. The problem with my course is if you miss the rough and fairway you may end up in stuff that is knee to waist high. You can chop it out provided you can find it. We hit provisionals from time to time
  12. A follow up on the pet peeves about players let's talk about course management and how courses could do better managing pace of play. It seems to me that part of the problem is how the expectations are set by courses and then enforced. I've played on many different courses and in many tournaments where slow play is a problem. I'm always amazed how the marshalls don't do their jobs. One of my top pet peeves is that a course will clearly state that if you fall behind pace of play (based on time not on following a groupt) that they will make you skip a hole. NEVER seen it happen, though it should! Another one is not convincing groups of players that playing from the tips is not for them. Though KUDOS for some courses who remove the tip markers on weekends. What's yours?
  13. I'm not sure about that. Remember barefoot girl from a few seasons ago, she was horrible. There is a minimum, but the producers usually work in some personalities as well. I'm just saying that the race is a bit closer this year. And I agree, one episode is not enough to judge, just a preliminary comment because during past seasons you can usually pick out the top 5 easily. I don't think it's as cut and dry this season, boobs aside.
  14. I haven't read every post...but please can we let these guys use range finders or shotlink! What do you think they are using on Tuesday and Wednesday to mark distances from various parts of the course in order to suplement the yardage books? What chaps me is that these guys play in more than four hours as twosomes!
  15. Have fun! It gets addicting...beware!
  16. All that aside, it seems like for once that everyone has a little bit of game. Am I wrong? Usually there are at least half the crowd with nothing.
  17. Here they are rolling the green and back dragging the sand infill. Final shot is the finished product. We ended up placing a mound near the fence between two cups to create some breaking putts and add some visual interest and there is also a very small slope on the other side. This green also rolls nicer than any other synthetic green I've putted on, it's uncanny, the feel. If I was to decide on a company to do this I would choose the same. I've been putting 10 to 15 minutes a day, mainly 4 to 6 feet. I can already tell a difference in my game and confidence level on the course with my putting stroke. We also had a lot of fun over the weekend playing putting and chipping games. Thanks everyone for the kind comments.
  18. I make a straight line on my ball over the alignment markings. Mostly because I tend to see things crooked in my dominant eye and always feel that I'm aiming off line otherwise. If I line it up and trust it, it works best for me. I've overode the line on occasion, and I end up missing right by quite a bit if the putts are long. Once I'm lined up I look at a spot a couple of inches in front of the ball on that line. Takes all the anticipation out of the hit and keeps me from sneaking a look at my putter on the way back but that's a whole other story.
  19. I have a few more pics to post when I get a chance. But we had a lot of fun this weekend. I've been practicing a little every day and I can already see the difference in my putting. I think that with a kittle practice discipline that this will be great for my game. Pitches and chips also work great. But having a perfectly flat spot to practice 10' and in is great and the green is large enough to play some fun games with guests.
  20. that's a whole lot of bounce, but a lot of grind as well...interesting. I have a 56 with 12 but rarely play except out of the bunkers. I'd love to see a shot of the clubs on with the soles on a flat surface as a reference.
  21. Starting to take shape. next is the sand infill, regular sand followed by colored green sand. It's going to run around 10 which is about my home course on regular days. We did pretty much what we thought with regards to the slopes. You can get a r to l and l to r and some straight. These guys sweat the details, we picked the right company if you ask me.
  22. Odyssey #9 might be a good fit
  23. the open space with the stake is going to be for a fire pit and seating around it. Tomorrow we fine tune the green and set the cups!
  24. On top of the base rock the fines are laid. This is the final grading for the lawn and the start of the contouring for the green. The green will get an additional pad prior to the synthetic turf.
  25. Next step, hardware cloth to protect against the gophers that love my yard and then base rock and then a finer base rock. The green is painted out on the end, it's about 400 sf. Which seems about the right size to practice. A couple of feet more around wouldn't make much of a difference it seems. We would need to make it much bigger to get more cup and or more slopes.
