Internet Distance irons and woods "guaranteed to add 20 more yards...so far, that no one will believe you! "

I definitely think this is the reasonable thing to do. Personally, I liked, and bought, the KBS tours at my fitting. I compared to project X and DG. Edited: If you just change the shafts you may also have to do some work on the heads to retain the swingweight that you like. Stiffer shafts are heavier.

I thought about that, but really it would become just another place for the next door neighbor's cat to fill with poop. We'd need a rake and a scoop. ;)

Cool, thanks. I'm kind of digging it for now, so it will stay.

I didn't have one, but now I do. Thanks secret avatar giver!

Not a fan...but a drop in the bucket. How long do you think bill gates wealth could keep the country running for?

not sure where to start here between Olympic and a lot of courses on the monterrey peninsula. There are so many good courses in every state. My favorite state and city to play in is Columbus Ohio...unbelievable...played The Golf Club once and that's just the start.

He's been a sponsor of the tourney for a few years. Done good some years and not so good others, but that's why he gets to play at stonebrae. Over all he has said that his game is not up to the task. But he loves golf! They broke the mold when they made Jerry Rice.

USGA rules for match play in formats like this are that each individual receives 90% of their handicap and that is the differential between two players on the same team is more than 8 strokes than an additional 10% is taken off. I'm doing this by memory, the best person to ask would be the pro at your club or at the local golf course. They do this type of things all the time for charity events and the likes. http://www.usga.org/handicapping/publications/Different-Strokes-For-Different-Events/

I wasn't singling you out, I did think the previous comment was funny though. But by that reasoning there seems to be a caste system when it comes to distance as well. I always thought the point of the game was to put the ball in the hole using the least amount of strokes. My new driver distance is 301. Took a lesson today and really figured some things out. ;)

http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-equipment/hot-list google They don't have the chart up that I could see in the magazine. Stop by the library or Barnes and Noble and take a look at it. It's worth it to see the actual difference in spin and launch. You'll see that balls either launch higher and spin less or launch lower and spin more.

Mid 80's 6 iron swing speed is pretty fast. I'm surprised he recommended graphite shafts. Don't mean to stir the pot...but just saying I know a lot of players with mid 80's 6 iron swings speeds (yours truly included) and none of them swing graphite. All have steel shafts around stiff stiffnesses, and a few Xs.

I love my 68's. It's good koolaid! -
Nice article on balls in this months golf digest. Interesting at least. The difference in spin and launch angle between the different types of ballls is pretty large.

Gift her some lessons either for her by herself or for you two together. Just make sure that one of those is a playing lesson and let the instructor know . He'll find a nice way to say that her game would be better if she didn't do this and you won't piss her off. Cost you some $$ but save you a lot of other things. My pet peeve, is people talking as I'm about to hit. I tend to listen and it messes me up. I don't mind if you talk while I'm begining my routine, which takes a few seconds. But please stop once I've addressed the ball. I also hate the guy who starts a story on the tee between players hitting, then you're wondering how it will end. OTOH, I don't really mind people walking or carts moving up to their ball or putting clubs back. It's just the talking. I also can't put up with the guys who crowd the cup while you're putting. I have a long list, but thankfully my regular game about 20 guys or so are all pretty good on the etiquette front.

I agree that a continual slope makes the most sense, especially given the surface area constraints. But I don't think it's useless to think about it and design it as best as I can. I do want at least a 10' putt that is flat but I also want to include a left to right and right to left. The slope will also create opportunity to chip down hill or uphill. Also, we are going full on scientific, laser levels and everything. As in my work I expect that the level part of the green will be just that...level. It's not that hard to make something level, people do it all the time. Also, I spoke with the southwest greens franchise owner for my part of the world. He is there for every job, and he absolutely wants me there when they grade and compact the base for the green as we'll have the opportunity to roll some balls and adjust both for size and slope prior to the subsurface mat being rolled out and then covered with the synthetic green. I'm not sure what a correct slope would be? 2% isn't much but 5% is probably too much. Our practive green at my club definitely has too much, but I'm not sure how much that is, I'll measure it next time I'm out. There's even an app for that. :)

Definitely going for a gentle slope from one corner. I am not planning on a tier, though I can see how my drawing would show that. The purpose of having some slope is to have some breaking putts and make it slightly more interesting for the eventual backyard putting and chipping games with my buddies.

I had an r9 supertri and I thought that was pretty good. Then I went to the R11 that a buddy gave me after he got the adams speedline. I couldn't believe the difference...for one the shaft (aldila rip) is much better suited for me and I can now work the ball and swing aggressively when needed. But to answer your question as far as dispersion: the shaft on the R11 is 1/2" shorter. And guess what, I'm much more consistent and hit the ball longer...go figure. BTW, I put that shaft on the R9 and I hit that one better as well. I'm pretty well convinced that the shaft has much more to do than the actual clubhead, all things being equal. edit: didn't see the poll. I haven't hit any of those, so I couldn't answer that part.

Made an 8 footer for eagle and a mess of skins after seeing 2 birdie putts go down.

I agree, if there was a woman member they would disclose it. But they might not disclose it until the Masters was concluded. That is what they typically do. Personally, I don't think that they have a woman member. Will they eventually have one? most likely, but who knows when. Do they have locker facilities for women there? They must since a number of women play there fairly regularly, or are women relegated to the Butler Cabin?

I think we're getting a little off topic regarding grass greens. I'm not installing once of those for the many reasons mentionned above. The tough part about this design is the limited space. With 800sf you can do two tiers which makes the design a lot easier. With around 400sf this limits the possibilities. So what do you guys think of a kidney shape that takes adavantage of as much of the corners as possible (like an elongated triangle sort of) with a slope coming from the right side boundary of the green. This should allow for 3 to 4 pin placements, give it some slope for putting and chipping and still allow for a straight putt to practice a pure stroke. That's the general idea above, the drawing is a bit sketchy but what do you think?

TRUE Shoes, Barefoot, and More
VMAN replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
In the same way that some brands do not fit wide feet very well, I would think that True's don't particularly cater to those with slim feet. It's hard to make a product that works for everyone. Personally, the True's fit me great and I enjoy having a little more room in the toe box for once. My Adidas, I order wide and fit well. I've tried Nike running shoes and I can't get them to fit no matter how I order them...so I don't wear Nikes. Like my Trues so much I now have two pairs.
