Without looking like a power ranger.....
stiffdogg06 replied to ericstamper's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I do not all match yet. But I am slowing going over to Titleist. I like their AP2's and the 909D2. I also currently use Titleist Vokey wedges, Nike pro combo irons, Ping putter, taylor made utlity wood, and Nike 3wood. This winter will be a revamping of all my golf gear. But the only reason I will have matching clubs is because, it is what fits me. I'm not going to buy something to just make it LOOK cool in my bag. I'll impress people with my shots rather than whats in my bag. -
I like to play the game as it was meant to be played. I carry my bag when I play. It's not that tough unless you have a large bucket of range balls in a pocket you forgot about...

I doubt he'll play anymore this year. Maybe Majors.

What does your screen name / username come from?
stiffdogg06 replied to Jeepthrills's topic in The Grill Room
Stiffdogg06: The stiffdogg part just is one of the many nicknames I had while in school. My older brothers got the nickname Stiffy, Stiffdogg, etc in Football in middle school. When I started playing football in 7th grade, I also got that nickname so both of my brothers and I have these nicknames. The '06 is the year I graduate High School. Jared - I would like to use my initials but when I do people think I am copying Atlanta for some reason. My initials are ATL. -

If that was my kid, he would've got a nice back hand on camera.

Headcovers for your driver..what kind do you use?
stiffdogg06 replied to Woters's topic in Golf Talk
The one that came with my Nike Sasquatch driver. -
I've never yelled at a PGA tour event. The only times I've actually said something was at the local Memorial tournament. Tiger woods was walking down the fairway about 10yrds away from me, and I said " Go Get Em Tiger." He looked over tipped his hat and that was the end of it. Another time was Justin Rose pounded a drive. No one really was around him that day, so I said to him, "Good Drive Justin." He looked over gave the golfers wave, and went on his way. I don't really pay attention to the guys screaming after shots... But the times it does get annoying is when they are teeing off or laying up and you hear someone scream, "get in the hole." Like really?

Thanks Erik. I will get a video up today.

Anyone..?

I have a 22* Hybrid in my bag. I like it when I am 210+ out and in the rough when I know I can't get good contact with a 4i on the ball.

Ok guys, Here is the break down. I am a straight range rat. I shoot 81-85's all day at the course, but never break 80...Also, my left wrist usually hurts at times. Doctors say tendinitis, I say a bad impact zone. I will try to get another good video made when I can. We have a tornado watch so I prefer not to be outside... My ball striking is very inconsistent on the course and a lot of times on the range also...The less loft there is, the more I normally hit solid shots (assuming from the flat back swing), but the more likely I will hit a snap hook My Misses are : - A high weak fade - A LOT of thin shots. A few blades, and rarely chunks. - As the loft decreases, my misses are basically banana hooks - Also, I have a very flop like ball flight Here is what i concluded from my video I made quickly(battery died, will post the video as soon as it charges.) - Too far of a back swing - Over the top (divots point straight left a lot) - Left wrist cups at impact (hence the high flop like trajectory) Easily losing 5-10yrds on my clubs. - VERY flat mid-way through the back swing Now here is what I've done in the last 15mins: - More wrist cock instead of just rolling my arms over each other. This so far has shortened my back swing and made it a lot more on plane. So I will keep practicing that. - In regards to the over the top down swing, I've been working on starting the swing with hips instead of shoulders/arms. That's a working progress. - Too far of a back swing, like I said the wrist cock is helping me limit that and actually looks really good at the top. - Left wrist cups at impact . Here is where I never really practiced or tried to learn... What is a good way to practice keeping that left arm straight at the target instead of cupping it? Recommend techniques or even devices I can buy. - Thin shots, I didn't really have a lot of knee flex, when means if I would stand up just a little at impact, I'd thin it. Well I've been bending the knees just a little more and it's been helping with better contact on the club. Sorry for the long post. Basically I am looking at how to keep that left wrist straight at impact. That's my main goal right now.

I've been slowly transferring my clubs from Nike to Titleist. I currently play the Vokey 56* 10* bounce and I love it. I've only played Nike SV tour wedges so I am kind of bias.

Anyone else carry a throwing club?
stiffdogg06 replied to bong_crosby's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've never thrown a club and never plan on it. My older brother I typically play with is a different story. He throws clubs, hit balls directly OB, etc... The worst I've ever got was when I slammed a few drivers down to the turf. And I might drop the club from the top of my follow through when I hit a bad shot... I personally think you look stupid and childish when you throw clubs, or do something erratic. -
Search Joe Kwok on GolfWRX. He grinds wedges. He will basically do anything you need to clubs. He also custom fits PGA tour players clubs. I plan on getting him to fit my new irons once I get them. That is, if I ever find a good person to get me a good dynamic fitting.

I put a straight colored line half away around the ball and then my initials under the line. Initials are ATL.

Since I detail cars for a side job, I own a Makita Rotary Polisher which I've used in conjuction with some Menzerna Polishes to polish all my drivers and also my brothers. They come out VERY nice. If the scratches are deep, you may be able to REDUCE them a little with some Color X or Scratch X by hand, but I doubt you will generate enough heat to remove them 100%...

I am going to the doctors today for my cortisone shot for my tendinitis in my left wrist; if that is feeling better I am playing Cumberland Trails on Friday.
-
Sure, you've had a birdie, eagle, or maybe even an albatross but...
stiffdogg06 replied to bong_crosby's topic in Golf Talk
I am fortunate enough to say I haven't hit any animals on the course, yet. -
I am 21yrs old and my doctor last year told me I have tendinitis in my left wrist. It acted up, I took some medicine and it was ok through the off season and up to 2 days ago... It started acting up again... I'm thinking its more than tendinitis or I need a shot of Cortizone. Only hurts when I bend my wrist back, but doesn't hurt when I bend it forward... It sucks...

Play the course, not the golfer.

Overlap vs Interlock vs Baseball Grips
stiffdogg06 replied to mcflynn's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Been using interlock since day one. I didn't like the way overlapping felt when I swung, and I've never bothered to try the baseball grip unless I have a baseball bat in my hand... -
Those guys are good no matter what. I can't wait for The Memorial Tournament. Haven't missed it in 5 years.
-
I typically will ride because thats normally what my brothers who I play with normally do... But I feel like I just drive it, whack it when I do carts... I know when I walk, I concentrate and slow my breathing a lot better... I am playing at Heritage Club in Cincy, Ohio Saturday and we'll be walking. Should be fun!

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
stiffdogg06 replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I haven't bought anything golf related in a while... I rarely play much. I think last year I played 7-8 times. I hope to play a lot more this year. My last purchase was probably some Callaway HX 56 balls. Next purchase will be Titleist AP2's
