  1. Tiger Woods, then ZJ.
  2. A par's a par. Wait until you start catching birdies! Anyone can do it from the fairway.
  3. I only really "see" the ball when I'm putting. That said, I do make an effort on all shots to keep my head down.
  4. Borrow a friends 5W, isn't that the logical step if you aren't lifting the ball enough? I've never played a 3W from the deck, for exactly that reason. The 5W is plenty workable and I've never had a hole where it wasn't long enough for me.
  5. I know the Nike driver I've played around was loud and had a weird sound that immediately turned me away. That said, they may not be the best but I wouldn't say they are bad quality. After all, they work ok for tiger!
  6. Will the putter help make more/longer putts? No. Will the confidence from having a new putter help you make more/longer putts? Most definitely.
  7. I'm the same. I feel like a line would just bring about another distraction.
  8. Very impressive if its accurate. You'll realize over time that accuracy is so much more important. Anyone would tell you they'd rather use an extra club (7i instead of 9i for instance) from the fairway than be closer and in the rough/trees/hazard.
  9. For me, its something different every time. Overall, I think it's a matter of taking my time before the shot. Whether I'm trying to drive straight (take my time and hit one 75%) or hit a wedge to the pin (examine the lie and take some perfect practice swings) or even a 15 foot putt (line it up, read fall line, practice swings) a little extra pause would definitely help.
  10. I haven't noticed any arrogance from lower handicappers, if anything they are the most helpful! I think that it's easy to be arrogant sometimes on the golf course, but I've played with people much worse than me (although I'm not great) who take forever without a problem. I think it's because I'm having fun playing golf.
  11. 46 on nine, my best ever. Pretty satisfied - not really too many shots I want back. Three GIRs, 19 putts - both also personal records. Putting could have been better, it was my wedge play that earned the low number of putts. Overall I'm excited for future rounds. I definitely felt that a forty was within reach - I was two bad holes away.
  12. Par 5 18th on home course, about 500 straight over water. Hit perfectly straight tee shot, another 5w shot to about 50yd. Lined up the wedge and hit a beauty 12 feet past the pin. Sank it for my first career birdie
  13. 99. Good, for me. 2 GIR, 45 putts. Obviously atrocious on the green, they were pretty fast (soaked) and didn't leave myself too many short putts. However, this way my first time assessing penalties, etc. so I was happy with it. Also, I was driving straight. Hit the range before hand and tweaked it a little bit, extremely happy all the way around. Probably 10+ strokes better given the penalties than my last rounds.
  14. 100 (+31). Pretty happy with it TBH, because I've gotten better. The score doesn't reflect it because of my horrible driving, which I still haven't figured out. For now I'll be using the 3I off the tee, and continue to work on my woods at the range. 43 Putts, but only 21 on the back 9 (I played the front 9 14 days ago, then came back and finished the back 9 yesterday). My short game has improved tremendously - wedges, fringe chips, and also putting. Obviously I'm not "good" yet, but my short game has improved leaps and bounds and I'm excited to keep working.
  15. Very exciting. My 30$ used driver has an extremely light shaft also, I'm wondering if that's why I get the drives that start out straight, but seem to climb upward about 100 yards out. Is that a sign of backspin?
  16. I'm that guy, at least I was until a couple of weeks ago.
  17. Very shrewd to start with lower cost clubs. Now you can always give it up without huge regret/effort of selling clubs (though I hope you don't choose this route), or start playing and build some skill before moving on. Hopefully you can give many other clubs/drivers a try before you move on to the more expensive pieces.
  18. Great coach, better announcer. Had his good and bad moments on TV. Will definitely miss him calling football...
  19. This just might be a purchase, haven't played a golf game in several years on console.
  20. The Bold is the new/improved "curve" type blackberry, while the storm is the new touchscreen. Have only used the storm in person, very impressed with its functionality.
