  1. I would hit a 3/4 9 iron (desired distance would be the center of the green) Depending on the green I would aim right of center and draw one in.
  2. I think to pick a grip you have to try them hitting balls. I have not found a grip that can not be blown on. They don't have to be Pure although Pure makes a nice grip. Might make sense to pick the three you like, have them installed on three clubs you tend to use more and play them. One will probably jump out at the one you like, It might cost a few dollars but at least you don't get a whole set you don't care for. Right now I am playing Ping ID8 Gold. The gold denotes 1/32" oversize. They also have a reminder rib. A reminder rib in a rib on the grip which lines up with the creases on your fingers. It assists in gripping the club consistently. Since playing with them I am shocked at how a minor grip adjustment changes the ball flight. I play a big draw (at the moment) shifting that rib ever so slightly in in my hand creates a straighter ball flight. A little to much and it's a push, a little more and it is a push fade. Have fun with it, its a nice change for relatively little money.
  3. I also have a battery case and have no problems. Funny I went over to the Game Golf Website and they are going to launch game golf pro. Looks very similar to Arccos. Not a lot in info there. I am not a fan of the red thing on my belt in theory, never tried it.. I take enough crap about the technology I use.
  4. No, nothing to do with badges, just curious.
  5. So if someone asks you if you ever got a hole in one what is the answer?
  6. I would ad the Kohler resort, Whistling Straits as a must do. Not cheap but everyone that went on our trip said they want to go back.
  7. I get bored in the winter and want to "retool". I'll wait until spring. I think I am going to Swap to the Ping Glide 2.0 wedges.
  8. I want to replace my 58 degree wedge, it is two years old and pretty beat up. According to Arccos it is in my top 3 most used clubs. I am gaming Callaway MD3 50-10, 54-10,58-9 all in S grind. I use the 50 for partial swing (wedge swing) 90-110 and lots of low spinning chips around the green. A low spinning chip is my best scoring shot, magic. I use the 54 for 70-95 wedge swings and long bunker shots. I think I would like more bounce for those shots and I might make it my main sand club if it felt right so I could have a big bounce sand club and a lower bounce lob wedge. I am not afraid of bounce. I use my 58 for short pitches, chips most sand shots and up to 70 yard wedge shots. Of the wedges I use the 58 the most. On the course I don't really find the need to open it up much. It happens but you don't need to open it much from a grass lie. In the trap I take most of the shots with is open quite a bit to wide open. I dislike hitting the 50 degree for distance. I am very uncomfortable with it. If I was going to call a miss it would be short left. Money on low chips my least favorite club otherwise. I was not fit for my current wedges, I bought the same lie as my irons. I am considering an indoor wedge fitting to replace al three wedges. Does anyone have any thoughts on a indoor wedge fitting? They use trackman.
  9. I think you would run out of hands. One on the “compressor” one on the gun, one on the grip? How long would it take for the pressure to build. I would give that a firm no go.
  10. The ball is mostly about the cover for me, I like urethane. I play low spinning shots around the green. Because of this I need consistent spin. I fiddled around with different balls and settled on Srixon Star Z. If I find a Pro V on the course I give it away. I want to know how it is going to spin so I don't like to swap balls. Star Z is their premium ball. I can get them for $29.00 a dozen watching for the buy 3 get one free sale which runs several times a year. I also like a yellow ball, mostly because when we come up on the balls I know which one is mine. Sometimes a competitor comments on it which I also see as a bonus. Last I looked Snell did not make a yellow covered premium ball. I tries the vice yellow premium ball and the color was odd, don't recall how but I did not like it. Nor the pimp logo. If I was going to play white it would likely be Snell. After writing this I popped over to Snell, they will have yellow when their new ball is available in March. I'll have to check that out.
  11. The tone of your answers lead me to believe you think my questions are confrontational. They are not. I am asking you because you have much more experience than I, I am seeking knowledge. Thanks for the help.
  12. Yes they do but if the net is 10 or 20 feet away it estimates the rest of the flight.
  13. It should be taking wind and things into account but into I net probably not.
  14. How do you know if quad was accurate or not? By assuming trackman is accurate and if Quad does not match it is not? I like the club numbers GC2 gives me. Angle of attack and delivered loft, club path , face to path.....are very helpful in dialing in your swing. Even if it is not 100% accurate as long as it reads consistently you can make and verify adjustments. For example if it says my angle of attack is 4 and its really 3 I am still ahead.
  15. GC2 with HMT is old now technology wise. The new GC quad is supposed to be more accurate vs trackman. I watched this a while back. These appear to be trackman guys saying good things about GC Quad.Tackman vs GC quad In any case GC2 and HMT are over the top for me. The radar stuff indoors needs to much room to read which would be harder for me. It requires a bigger area and a bigger dedicated net. I am very blessed to have the equipment I have. I "play" all winter.
  16. I would like to see exactly what is calculated vs what is read with Trackman. I own a GC2 with HMT which reads both the ball and the clubhead. I am a fan of the photography based systems for a few reasons: They are superior indoors. My main use is indoors so perhaps specific to me. The one I have reads the head and ball very well giving every bit of data you could want. Knowing a specific read distance is less important to me than knowing what happened at impact. The distances that are estimated with the Foresight monitor are very close. Clubhead speed and ball speed are very accurate. Trackman is in the enviable position of having name recognition. Like Scotch tape, it is now a generic term for launch monitor. If I were being fitted I think I would prefer the fitter have a Foresight devise with head reading. Eric I am sure you have more experience than me. What are your thoughts on the different types of monitors?
  17. I would find that very suspect. They are trying to overcome the shortfall of a radar based system which it the strength of a photography based system. Calculating the impact point accurately is difficult if not impossible.
  18. Thanks, I filled my travel humidor with some nice Rocky Patels for the trip.
  19. I am leaving on a 4 day trip to Innisbrook today. We are playing Copperhead, the Island course twice and the North course. To me it will be especially interesting because I have the Island course on my golf simulator. I got it recently and have played it a bunch. I have never played a course that I have played on the simulator. I am very excited. Probably setting myself up for disappointment. At the end of last season I started scoring a lot better. My ball striking improved, it showed itself in greens hit and proximity to the hole. I finally became more connected. It limits my big misses and makes my distance control much better. That good play has continued on the simulator. I am hoping to throw up at least a couple good rounds. We will see. Has anyone done Innisbrook?
  20. I would add Bay Harbor to the list. I am from Southern MI. We have done lots of up North Trips. The best trip we have done was across to Wisconsin. To a man we all agreed it was the best of all the trips we have done and we hit most of the courses in Northern MI. We did Kohler. All the courses were great. Whistling Straits and the Irish the best of the bunch. There is also Erin Hills over there and Sand Valley. If we did Kohler again for four days I would play Whistling straits twice, The Irish and the River. Skip the Meadow Valleys, its not a bad course the other are just much better. You can't go wrong in Norther MI.
  21. You said leaving the stickers on the clubs? Do you mean reflective dots? If so is the monitor GC2?
  22. To the OP: I am not sure if it is the same but I believe you just said something similar to,"I have figured out my swing". After that sentence is put forth nothing good happens.
  23. Ping uses similar thinking in their putter faces. Ping Putter video
  24. So evidently the ribbed reminder grip is for my pleasure. As I settled into the new clubs I am able to control my grip better. It allows me to grip the club consistently (which I am not good at) and make subtle changes in grip to effect ball flight (as much as I am capable of such things). It is cold and snowy here in MI. I am playing my new ping I200's on a launch monitor/simulator quite a bit. My reasoning switching from Callaway CF16's to the Pings was to get better distance control. After lots of range sessions and many simulated rounds I have found the distance consistency to be the best I have ever experienced. My swing has improved in the last few months as I have learned to me more connected or less "armsy". That certainly has something to do with it.
  25. I can get tendonitis in my elbows so my fitter put me in Steel Fiber I95S. I have them in a set of Callaway CF16 irons and Ping I200 irons. I can't speak to distance gained or lost. I hit the Ping I200 7 iron 155 consistently. I hit the Callaway CF17 7 iron 165-175. The Ping 7 iron is lofted like a Callaway 7-1/2 iron so apples to apples I think they go the same distance. I also had them put in my Callaway Apex Hybrids, he didn't think that was necessary but I figured consistency couldn't hurt. I like the shaft, my tendonitis has not come back for what that is worth.
