But aren't you the guy who has no problem putting in earbuds to "tune out" others while playing golf? And playing music from your cart? Yeah, real class here, folks...

Music on the Course - When Did This Become a Thing?
Dave H replied to wedge player's topic in Golf Talk
Listening to music on the course isn't for me. As much as possible, I only want to hear "golf" and outdoor sounds. Maybe a quiet conversation with a playing partner at the appropriate time. If someone is playing music and I or others can't hear it, fine, I'll never even know about it. I would be (and have been) annoyed at hearing people blare music on the course though. -
Dress code for me is more about practicality. A nice pair of golf shorts and a good polo are much cooler and more flexible than cargoes and a t-shirt. Plus, I like the look of golf attire in general. That being said, if someone else wants to dress a certain way, and it's acceptable to the course, then I don't have a problem with it.

yes, I would do it without hesitation.

If you can post in an internet forum from your phone, you can google from your phone.

I voted yes. Probably because I want him to more than anything though.

It isn't about being a better walker, or your skill in walking. It's about walking being central to the conditions of the competition. If you can't walk, then technically, you can't compete. Personally, I agree with Iacas, if Casey can take a cart, all players in that event should be able to take a cart. Change the conditions of the competition for a level playing field from this aspect.

Now that would be an intriguing story if someone were to actually...ummm, nevermind.

Hit a 7 iron on a 176 yard par 3. Had a slight helping wind. Hit a beautiful, high push draw to 3 feet.

Yeah. You might want to rethink that one.

43/44 for an 87 today. My best so far this year. Not the hardest course, but you still have to make the shots.

I was playing in the first tournament I ever played in a couple years ago and I was playing horrible. On a long par 4 I hit a great drive straight down the middle. I then proceed to top my 8 iron and the ball rolled all the way to the green, 6 inches from the hole. The guys I was playing with couldn't believe it. Of course, neither could I.

I was watching the coverage today and every time I saw JB Holmes I was reminded of how I don't like black golf gloves. Now, I have nothing against black colored apparel; I have several pairs black shoes, I wear black pants most weekdays, I have black hats, and I have plenty of other black attire as well. I can't put my finger on why, but black golf gloves just look wrong to me. Anyone else share this sentiment?

To use a cliche saying, I think it's going to separate the men from the boys this week. Those who are able to stay steady through the incredibly difficult stretch of holes all week will probably be the ones in contention on Sunday.

I hate to say it because it's obviously the minority opinion around here, but if the rules require one to walk in order to compete, than that should be the end of the story. Yes, it's unfortunate that life dealt him a crappy deck. Yes, he clearly has the ability to hit the ball at a pro level. BUT, if competing at the pro level requires walking and he can't do it, then he isn't able to compete. Seems logical to me. I accepted a long time ago that life ain't fair. Now, I tell my children the same thing.

49/43 for a 92 yesterday. The last few rounds have been 1 awesome 9, one bad or worse 9. Hopefully I'll put it all together soon and have 2 good 9s in a row.

I play plenty of golf and I neither ask for permission nor do I declare to my wife what I'm doing. How is this possible you ask? It's really simple. We talk like adults and arrange our schedules around raising our children, our time together, and the individual pursuits we each have a passion for. This is not rocket science - relationships are a two way street in which both people care about the other. I'm surprised how many of you sound like you have no respect for your wives. I don't know if most of it is false Internet bravado but if not, get a clue, sheesh. OP - sounds like you're doing the right thing and you have a solid relationship with your wife. And congratulations on becoming a father. It just gets better and better as time goes by.

Anyone ever had to teach their wife how to drive a manual?
Dave H replied to k-troop's topic in The Grill Room
Well that's for sure - I don't understand many things about women either. My wife and I have always shared everything but have treated our cars very independently, with the exception of when we're all together. In comparison to my wife, I'm an agressive driver (I'm not really)so she never wants to drive when I'm in the car with her for fear of me judging her (I never do). I do love driving a manual, especially the 2.0 turbo that I have. I believe the A3 has the same engine. Hope you can find a way to get it. -

I drive a manual as well (2011 GTI) and my wife initially promised to learn to drive it. But, 18 months later that still hasn't happened. It also hasn't really been an issue either. She drives her car to work, I drive mine to work and then typically on the weekends I do all the driving so we pick the car that suits our needs better (her car is much larger than mine). I don't really have any advice for you other than keep trying. It took about 3 cars for me to get the manual I'd been craving. -
Good question. Anyone who throws a club in anger doesn't deserve to play this game on a professional level. Ok, I'm joking. In all seriousness, will this stop the comparisons to Tiger? Has TW ever missed two cuts in a row? Hasn't he only missed 8 cuts his entire career?

Why did carpediem4300 repeat himself twice within a couple hours? just kidding, I couldn't resist.

I think Hogan would be fine if he played golf today. He could even be better with all the information and tools we have available. This argument reminds me of another one I've heard that says the leading rock musicians of the 60s are crap musicians compared to those of today. While technically that may be true - the kids of today can play the stuff they were playing back then in their sleep - those early guitar players were inventing new styles, techniques, and sounds that practically every rock guitar player of today utilizes. Because those guys were fantastic, creative musicians, if you started them over today they would probably be doing all the same things that other players today are. I would wager to say the same would go for Hogan.

As I recall, last time Tiger tried to not answer questions from the media, he got blasted for that too. Something about Miceli and death stares comes to mind.
