a big breaking 15ft putt. About 10 ft north and 10 ft west. Made me forget (temporarily) 2 3putts.

There is a hole on my home course that at one time had a sand filled bunker that for some reason was filled in. Now it has pretty thick grass in it. Still deep and no fun to hit out of...but at least I can ground my club. That's the only thing I thought of when I saw the OP.

I'm pretty knowledgeable on guitars. I don't recognize this brand. Likely it's made offshore in China or Korea by a company that manufactures the guitar for a dozen or so different brand names. Generally they are decent values for the money (especially if it cost you nothing). The only difference between them is the name/label on the headstock.

par 4, 2nd shot punched out of treeline in hopes of saving par or bogie.. 3rd shot-95 yds gap wedge. I hit it pretty good and my partners who were ahead of me started yelling "go in! go in!" It did! my first hole out from any farther than around the green. What a thrill!

golfshot on iPhone
rwfastrax replied to Andycapped's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
GolfShot is great on the Iphone 3GS. I've had zero accuracy problems and it was very easy to learn and really has me dialed in distance-wise. -
Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?

Vokey Black Nickel spin milled 60*4, HiBore XLS hybrid 3, Headcover, and a Titleist hat! -
+1 for Golfshot. I haven't tried any of the other smart phone apps...but I've been very satisfied with Golfshot. Can't tell you how great it is to hit your shot without wondering if I have too much/not enough club in the middle of takeaway.

I originally thought I'd end up being a better golfer than I am. I used to get mad at poor play back then. I realized I probably wasn't going to get where I wanted to be playing once or twice a week max for 7-8 months a year, but I work 5 days a week and can't golf everyday. Those limitations being accepted... I'm getting better anyway. I learned that getting mad only affected the rest of the round and did nothing to help the next shot....I tamed down to temporary frustration and I enjoy golf alot more. Slow play is my greatest challenge in RE to losing my temper.

2nd shot on a par 5 today. 240 out with a 3W. Straight on the pin 15 ft short. Barely missed the putt. Tap in birdie though. More importantly, I hit my new HiBore XLS fairway woods much better than my 07 Burners.

Do you think your bag should match your clubs?
rwfastrax replied to Coluejack's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think your bag should be more a decision of function over appearnce..but that's just me. I'll give everyone a laugh at my expense. Last year I needed a new bag so I went to Dick's and found a bag that I really liked. It was a Datrek. Had plenty of good sized pockets, not too big, not too small. Nice dividers...the whole package. i bought it and played with it all last year. Last week I downloaded an Iphone app called Iclub. It's a program that allows you to catalog all your equipment. I went to enter my bag and realized I didn't know which model it was. I verified on the bag that it was a "Verge" So I googled it and damn if it isn't a "ladies" bag. It's not frilly colored. It's black with grey trim...no girlie designs etc. But on the fabric print under very close observation you can make out heart designs all over it. Needless to say my girlfriend was putting her clubs in it within a couple of hours and I'm now the proud owner of a Sun Mountain BLACK C-130 bag. She told me she was surprised I played as well as I did last year with my boobs in the way and all... -
145 yards out, over trees, uphill to a green protected by a deep bunker right in front of the flag. Perfect 8 iron to 10ft. Missed the putt. Still yet to birdie this hole. We call this hole the b*tch hole. Par is a fine score here.

what wedges are in your bag?
rwfastrax replied to Dr. Slice's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I recently got my first separate wedge set. TM RAC TP/black 52, 56 and 60. Loving them so far. Having an adjustment phase letting go of my PingEye2 LW...but I know once Im a little more used to them I'll do really well with them. I've already improved a great deal with the 52 and 56, which was my main reason for buying. -
What's in your bag (other than clubs)?
rwfastrax replied to frogger's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A keg of beer and an 8 track tape deck with Journey's "Anyway You Want it" !!! If you read this forum and haven't seen Caddyshack at least 5 times...that's a 2 stroke penalty. -
Do most people fit in off the rack clubs?
rwfastrax replied to Happy Dragon's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I played with standard loft/lie clubs for years, and since I was fitted for my new irons...I can definitely tell the difference. My fitting was 2 degrees upright. All clubs I've owned before have felt as if I was reaching too far out for the ball when the club is soled flat to the turf. Not that I couldn't hit it...it was simply not comfortable to get the sole level. With my current irons I take my stance with my hands in the most comfortable hitting position and the club soles perfectly to the turf. My swing feels more grooved now, and my ball striking is more consistent than it's ever been. -
Your favorite -- or least favorite -- golf clichés
rwfastrax replied to Q.Q.Quillume's topic in Golf Talk
it SO gets on my nerves when I hear "uh oh" when I hit a shot that could potentially be in trouble. I knew the shot was in trouble before you did. -
Knowing the course you're on equates to confidence. In club selection and reading greens. I'd say 6 strokes would be pretty accurate. I play the same course pretty much every week and know it like the back of my hand. My course management is pretty much down to a science there.

rwfastrax replied to Q.Q.Quillume's topic in Golf Talk
current favorite "be the right club TODAY!" I know that's probably someone's least favorite too. least favorite...anything sarcastic about a shot ending up in the sand being good...ex "nice shot...right on the beach" -
reminds me of my round this past Sunday. My girlfriend is very new to the game but I've showed her proper etiquette and how to play efficiently but not rush...we got behind a foursome on Sunday that was horrid. All over the course with tons of open holes ahead of them and they wouldn't invite us to play through. I can't ask..if I did and was told no...I'd be REALLY po'd. Anyway we wait 5 minutes for every shot on the front nine...and heading to 10 (from the snack bar of course) I could swear they ran to the tee so they could stay ahead of us...I told my GF $#@! this and we went straight to #11. Smooth sailing for awhile...eventually they were at the hole opposite our tree line and of course were playing shots from our fairway so there I was...ahead of them..but STILL waiting on them. And to top that off....HE HIT TWO BALLS!. Had a great round anyway.

I've had mine for about a month and I'm quite happy with them. First brand new set of clubs I've ever owned and like them alot. I also had them fitted and I can't stress how important this has been to my performance with them. As I continue to get used to them I play better every weekend. I also recently found a set of AW, SW and L with the same lie as my fitting and bought those as well. May only end up keeping the SW in the bag though as I do really well with my PING Eye 2 LW.

It's pretty clear really that there isn't a "best" between any two comparable sets of irons. It truly comes down to what's best for a particular individual. When I tried the Burners I felt comfortable. I was confidant at set up. When I hit the ball they felt great. I'm just as certain the G10 users, The Titleist users, Mizuno users etc...had a similar experience. Try both sets and other clubs too. You'll know when you've found your club. Whatever you choose...if you don't have them fitted to you, you're not getting everything you're paying for.

I've never hit the G10s...but I really like my Burner09s.

How Hard Is a 2 Iron to Hit?
rwfastrax replied to maraca2020's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I bought a 1 and a 2 thinking I'd use them in tight teeing situations...I also got my first hybrids about the same time...never even gamed with the 1 or the 2...used them at the range. Damn hard to hit flush and painful when you miss. Hard to keep straight too. Hybrids have made them all but irrelevant. -
I was finishing up my front nine this weekend and I'm at the tee and notice a ball coming in from the left. Hole 1's fairway and hole 9's fairway border each other. The ball cuts across 9's fairway and I'm thinking.."man I'd hate to have to do that walk of shame..." Then another ball comes into 9's fairway as I'm driving to my tee shot...as I look back two more balls in 9's fairway. The group on hole one were intentionally teeing their balls to 9's fairway. What an idiotic and dangerous thing to do.

this is a cheap Ebay item. I figured I could at least see if it does anything at all before my wrist turns green, and if it does...then I'd consider a nicer one.

This year I've had problems with my pinky and ring finger on my left hand (I'm RH) being extremely sore after golfing. I'm sure this is arthritis as it's always run in my family. So I've ordered a magnetic golf bracelet (snake oil) to see if this will do anything for me. It doesn't really bother me when I golf or in my day to day activities, but it's become quite painful to play guitar which I have an entirely different life story I won't bore anybody with. Did I just waste $15?..or might I get anything out of it? Anybody have first hand experience?
