  1. Yoga. I started a :30 routine a couple of years ago and do it 3-5 times per week. It has made an incredible difference in my strength and flexibility and has help improve my game.
  2. IMO, there are so many good balls on the market in the $20-30 range it is just a matter of what type you like. I like a softer feeling ball as apposed to a "clicky" one. TF D2 Feel, Nike PD Soft and Srixon Soft Feel are just a few I have tried and liked for 2 piece balls. For 3 piece balls, I love the Gamer v2 and the TM Burner TP. If you don't want/need a premium ball, there are alot of good alternatives out there.
  3. I'm in the minority in that I like using iron covers. Have used the neoprene type on my Tour Burners since I got them in the spring of 08 and they still look great. If I happen to play under very wet conditions, I leave the covers off when I get home until they are dried. I don't like the sound of irons clanking around either. As far as contributing to slow play, that is complete nonsense. It takes no time to pull a club, put cover in pocket, hit shot, wipe club and replace cover.
  4. I am going on the second full with mine and couldn't be happier. Simply point and shoot and I know exactually which club I need for the shot. IMO, the exact yardage gives me more confidence.
  5. I'm the OP and never registered mine or anything. Called on a whim after the zippers blew out and didn't expect much. Been real happy with my new Grom and it carries just fine as I walk pretty much all the time.
  6. IMO, deceleration is an absolute killer if you want to have a good short game. Next time you practice, try purposely taking a little shorter than needed back swing which forces you to accelerate through the ball.
  7. Played with the same Gamer v2 all round today and looks like it will be fine for the next round. Unless it hits a tree, cart path or something else to scuff it up, I will stick with the same ball all round. Losing balls has not been a problem for me lately.
  8. I have finally been able to play the Gamer v2 under drier conditions the last few weeks and am liking it even better. I first tried it in the early fall but only got a couple of rounds before things became soggy for 6+ months. Until things really firm up, I will continue to use it as it is long off the driver and holds the greens plenty at the moment. Shot a 77 today using the same Gamer all round and it will be fine to start the next round. Can't praise this ball enough and the price just makes it even better; doesn't hurt that I was able to pick up 2dz for $18 after the first of the year.
  9. Hardly ever go to the range at least on my dime. A course 3 mi. from where I live has a good short game/putting area which I use 1-3 times a week in the spring and summer. Half the time I am there, people playing the course leave extra range balls all over the pitching/chipping green and I'll pick up sometimes 20-50 to hit at the range. When I want to pracitce, the is a 9 hole course at a local private university that is only $11 for 9 holes. The greens are small and not very nice so I don't work on the short game much, but with the right timing I can hit 2-3 or more balls per hole. It also has a couple of par 5's and par 4's to be able to work on driver and pretty much any club/distance I want to work on. Ranges in my area charge around $10 for 100+ balls to hit off hard mats.
  10. On a side note, how come you use the Tour Burner driver if you are a slicer?
  11. By what you posted, it looks like you need to work on putting, putting and then some more putting. Get it in the 27-32 range and see where your scores would be.
  12. Whatever. In the conditions I have been playing in all fall/winter it doesn't matter what ball you hit into a green, everything stops. It is also quite possible to lose balls in places you normally wouldn't, such as balls plugged just off the fairways and greens. For me, I also like a lower compression ball when it is colder out. Now if I lived in CA, AZ, FL ect., it would be a different story.
  13. I have been using 2 piece balls all fall/winter as a premium ball is not needed in WA during this time. I like the D2 Feel, Srixon Soft Feel and the Nike PD Soft among others. I keep any decent 2 piece balls I find during the season and have been playing those plus the D2's I picked up cheap last year. The way spring is starting, it may be awhile before I have to break into my stash of TM Red's.
  14. Right now in the wet and cold of WA, either the D2 Feel 2 dz for $18 (2 for 1 special) or the Gamer v2 also 2 dz for $18 (same special). Played 18 yesterday, 9 with each ball, and other than the Gamer putting better on slow greeens, they both played quite well. When things warm up and firm up, I switch to TM TP Red's that I got for $21 during the Walmart clearance.
  15. Yoga has been a huge help to my game, in both flexibility and strength. By adding a little weight training and walking 3-4 miles a few days a week has resulted in 25 less lbs for me over the last 2 years. I also like the rubber exercise balls.
  16. I always have a banana at the turn or shortly there after. Also have some combo of: pretzels, PB sandwich, nutri grain bar and large bottle of water.
  17. I have heard the "rock flight" talk a few times when I have been playing. I tried the Gamer v2 out late last summer and really liked it and was able to pick up 2 dz for $9 each. During the soft conditions of fall/winter the D2 Feel is an excellent ball and plays nice for the conditions. Anyone talking about "rock flights" probably has not played either of these two balls as they are no where near rocks.
  18. Walking up to a green on a course last summer and thought it was strange to see a dog hanging around. As I got closer, realized it was a coyote. It wandered off as I got closer. I have seen plenty of deer on the courses I play.
  19. You can find new Wilson Di9's all over the place for $200. I have hit them and they feel really nice. Even if you want to upgrade in a couple of years, you are only out a couple hundred bucks.
  20. If the course is open and I am not holding anyone up, I will spend time looking for lost balls. Balls in poor shape or quality go into a bag that I donate back to the local driving range. This has allowed me to try out many different types of balls without having to buy a sleeve or dz. Found enough quality two piece balls last season to keep from buying any in the fall/winter when things are soft and wet in my area.
  21. Right now it's aim. I am losing stokes with good shots, but poor aim.
  22. Can get a new set of Wilson Di9's for $200 all over the place. I have thought about getting a set for a back up and for the price, you can't go wrong.
  23. Right now, Gamer v2's. Bought a 15 ball pack at the end of summer after all the raving and the fact that I also like the D2 Feel alot. Liked them pretty well and got 2 more dz. for $18 when local store had 2 for 1 sale. This ball plays better than I thought it would during the soft, wet fall and winter in my area. Usually play any decent 2 piece ball this time of year since it doesn't matter as much. I am sitting on 5+ dz. TM Reds for when things get warm and beging to firm up. I really like the Reds and stocked up when Walmart had them for $21.
  24. Not withstanding the opinion of someone who has not played it, the Gamer v2 is an excellent 3 piece ball for the price. I also like the e6 and TM Burner TP as far as 3 piece balls go. There are plenty of excellent 2 and 3 piece balls on the market depending on what characteristics you are looking for.
  25. Take a look at the Wilson Di9's, they can be have for around $200. I have hit them a few time and they were quite easy to hit. The lofts are jacked up and the set comes in 5-GW which is more like 4-GW. For the price on a brand new set of irons, I think you can't go wrong.
