I started for a company sponsored tournament, loved it. Started playing on a regular basis pre-kids. Stepped away for 10 years until my boys grew up enough that they could enjoy the game with me. My 11 YO is hooked and plays on the local club team. My youngest is good for 7 holes, before he'd rather dig in the dirt.

My wife has been twice, both times only for 9. She goes in support of the family ans has little desire to improve only to enjoy time with her boys. I am trying to get her to go to a ladies only class or event.

Ogio Bag, is this possible?
jdjanda replied to macman756's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
My Nike has 14 dividers and is a stand bag. You can remove the second strap, it is a pig though, fine for 9, 18 would be a long day. -
IMHO, I think you sway the poll by coming out with such a strong statement. You do make a good point regarding putting.

Improving my ball striking has helped enormously, a strong second for me is the mental game. I've been working on half swings to help with ball striking, today 50 wedge shots into the net, then 10 half and 10 3/4 with a 5i then 10/10 with my 3 hybrid.

Anyone use a Ping Craze-E, Wack-E or Craz-D??!?!??!
jdjanda replied to ohiolefty's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I played the Craze-E for about 6 months, I loved it at first then found I had trouble with distance control. It is now in my son's bag at he is doing very well with it. I've returned to using my old off brand blade. -
Congrats I hope this will be year to break 100, it an incredible mental block for me.

Just closed out the month, and I'm on my 3rd triple crown and diet Coke.

I use one for working on half swings and improving contact. I run a rope down the middle to see where the ball is impacting. I use a carpet sample to save the grass and cushion the impact zone.

My Cleveland XLS HiBore 3W is idiot proof, unless I really try to crank one it goes straight. -
Opinions on Nike Sasquatch Tour Stand Bag?
jdjanda replied to cignatz21's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Great bag, the only negative is not having a separate putter well. It is a heavy bag to carry 18 but works well for 9 and as a cart bag. 5 out 5 stars for me. -
I use the shaft from a Thrift store club and a 3' section of a broekn bike flag. Total cost $1.

Adams Golf- Tom Watson PVD 3-Wedge Set
jdjanda replied to PaddyHarrington's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I purchased a 56 wedge from Giga Golf, I'd rate it a 6 or 7. The swing weight is a little light, seems to do well from the sand, but I have trouble from green side rough. I don't get much check on the greens, but that is me and not the club. -
I appreciate the opinions of those that enjoy the wind, maybe next time I'll roll with it. I've been working on striking the ball well and was really looking for a break out round. I spent so much time pissed at the wind and trying to keep my shots down low out of the wind that I did not enjoy the round. The round quickly turned to disappointment and my game went to hell. Shanks and thin shots were the order of the day. I did learn that I can roll my new 3W out 200 yards on a flat hard fairway.

I played 16 today, didn't bother to finish the last 2 holes. The wind was blowing a constant 20-30 MPH with heavy gusts. My game went to hell and I couldn't make solid contact on any shots. The few shots I did manage to get into the air were at the mercy of the wind blowing the ball 20-30 yards off course. Today was the type of day that makes me consider selling everything Next time I'm going to not bother wasting the money.

1. Break 100, and be able to do it consistently 2. Shot a 95 or better 3. Play 18 at least once a month 4. Hit a driver consistently 5. Birdy a par 4 or 5 5. Hit 9 GIR in one round

If you are planning late September early October then you will need to watch the weather snow could greatly alter your plans. Your best route would be to fly into LA, drive up the coast to San Fran, then to Yosemite, onto Vegas and return to LA. You are talking about a lot of miles to cover.

What fairway woods to get?
jdjanda replied to Addicted2Golf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I hit 50 range balls yesterday with the 3 Wood XLS and loved it, I originally planned on a Nike Sumo Sq but after the session I am going out today to demo the club again to make sure it was not a fluke. -
I'll share my prospective as the parent of young golfers. My sons started playing this year, my oldest 11 is very into golf. My wife and I view Jr golf programs as normal sports expenditures and will make sure both have the opportunity to participate in structured events. Both received thrift store clubs to start which they paid for 50% of the cost. My oldest received a new set of clubs for Christmas as his gift (the elves build a hell of a set BTW). We make the boys pitch in for extra expenses such as the driving range, new balls, a new glove, etc. I'll usually pay for a round once a month for one or the other as I really enjoy the time together. I view our job as parents to provide the foundation and provide the opportunity to participate in sport activities. The "extras" are up to them.

I ordered my 11 YO son a set from Giga Golf, 1" shorter, A flex, and JR grips. Less than $150. Should fit him for the next 2-3 years.

I play under the same screen name, it is tough, more of a sim then Tiger Woods golf.

Add another rock crawler to the mix. Started as a 75 International Scout, now it is a combination of parts. Currently working on a Ford 5.0/C6 swap. The fenders, hood, 5' of frame and the steering column are original.
