Titanfann replied to ShortGame4's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just got the new Clevelands!!...they are amazing!!...have used Titliest and Taylor made fore the last 5 years....these are not even in the same ball park!!!! -
Was it expensive? I went there a couple years ago in Sept and spent $625 for 4 rounds of golf!!...ouch!!!

How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?
Titanfann replied to LongballGer's topic in Tour Talk
I agree with you. I think back to playing the World Tour course in Myrtle Beach a few years ago. I hit a 5 iron to the 16th green at Augusta. I had a 20 foot putt with 30 feet of break. (Kinka like putting off of the top of your house). Most people who are good golfers will never play courses day in and day out like what the pros do. Plus, if you think you can do it...go see them play first...it's very humbling. Years ago I played everyday and thought I was a good golfer. The first tournament I went to (in Atlanta) I was amazed at how good every single golfer on the practice tee hit the ball...it's really amazing!!!! -
I think o'hair has a great golf swing but I hate to watch him play. He takes the Jim Furyk lining up my putt to the extreme. It takes him 3 tries to get the line on his ball perfect. He may be the slowest player out there today. I wish the Royal and Ancient or the USGA or the PGA would stop the "lining up a putt with a line on the ball". It really adds to the pace of play. (I'm sure alot of people don't agree with me...those of you who do it). Plus it carries over to alot of younger players. Recently I watched some of our local highschool golf match. It took 4 players approx. 5 minutes to hit a tee shot on a 145 yard par 3. I blame the tour players...(ie Tiger and Mr. O'hair).....wish they could take a lesson from this past years Masters champ and hit the damn ball!!!!

I'm just glad to see Phil do what he did. It makes me really look forward to next year. I'd love to see him win 2 majors and 8 other tournaments next year!!....go Phil!!!

How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?

All I know is that when I was in highschool a guy from our hometown went to Western Ky. He played in our first 2 man scramble with his college teammate a guy by the name of Kenny Perry. They won the tournament. (of course). At the time Kenny hit the ball so much farther than any other human being I'd ever seen. His partner (Butch Creek...from my hometown) is the best putter/short game player I had ever seen. We have a short but tough 9 hole course. Par is 35. I was playing there one day (10 years or so later) and Butch showed up and I played 9 holes with him. Bare in mind he couldn't make it on the tour. That day I shot 38. He bogeyed a hole and SHOT 30!!!! The most amazing thing about the 30!! he shot (and it's the only 30 I've ever seen shot at our course)...Was that when he finished he just added up his score and wrote down 30. He didn't celebrate or jump up and down or anything like that. He'd done it many times...it was no big deal...so I think if you can't shoot that good or almost that good on your home course then you (in my humble opinion) don't have a reasonable chance to make it on tour... -

I've loved every Taylormade product I've ever owned. Don't know why I ever quite using their clubs, but I have 3 delivered today in the mail!!!!yea!!!
-
Only reason they would have to change shafts would be if your shafts were way off. Like if you driver swing speed is 70 mph and you're using xxx shafts. That's probably not the case. Also, my "standard" Callaway's were up and down on the lie. Some were upright 2 degrees and some were too flat. That's something that most compaines don't do very well. Also a few of the clubs were strong and some were weak. If you have say a 7 iron that you hit as far as your 5 iron...good chance its a 7 iron with a 5 iron loft...
-
Look out all you Burner fans...I had my 9 year old x-14's lofts increased to 1 degree stronger than the burners. Added an extra wedge and left the 3 iron out alltogether. The first round I played with them I hit a 7 iron over a green that I struggled with reaching with a 6 iron just 2 days before. I also hit two 4 iron shots on a par 5 (490 yds) and I was pin high.)...Plus, I'm not gonna tell my friends that my lofts are bumped up!!!....I'll just tell'em I'm on steroids!!!!lol p.s. I'm 5 foot 6 inches tall and I also had the lie on all clubs put 2 degrees flat....the club doesn't even feen the same going thru the ball...wish I'd done this 20 years ago!!!...it's really moved the ball from dead left to straight!!!

What 14 Clubs do you carry?
Titanfann replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just got my set fixed!!! As you can see I carry 5 wedges. Plus I've bumped up my iron lofts by one club. My lofts are 1 degree stronger than the "new" infamous Taylormade Burner irons..... club loft Driver 8.5 3w 15 4i 20 5i 23 6i 26 7i 29.5 8i 34 9i 39 pw 44 aw 49 sw(cast) 52 sw (forged) 56 lw (forged) 60 putter -
I've been playing a Cobra speed driver and haven't been happy with it. My "friend" let me borrow his 7.5 degree Titliest 905t. I used it for 3 rounds and killed it. It was 30 to 40 yards longer and just as straight as me club. Well, now he doesn't want to sell it. So, I've ordered a 905s and it comes today. Anybody use that driver and what do you think. Does it keep the ball flight down. Looking at the specs it should put less spin on the ball than the 905t. I'm getting it with the Grafalloy Blue shaft and it is 8.5 degrees....

There have been numerous time when Tiger didn't "act" like a gentlemen. However, I think the 18th green Sunday just happened and it's really a non issue. Plus, I was proud of how Tiger kept his composure all week long. I watched alot of the tourney and didn't hear an F bomb. I was proud of the way he lost. I think it'll do him good in the longrun!!....

Tigers the best "golfer", but Jack will be the greatest until Tiger is 40 years old, acting his age, with 3 kids and 23 Majors. Then I'll maybe say Tiger is/was the greatest.

It works!!!...once you get used to looking to the "left" of the ball and never actually looking "at" it great things happen. I've had problems in the past of hitting fat shots. I was almost ready to give up the game. The thing I noticed most of all was my iron shots are starting on line now. Up until 4 weeks ago when I started this method I had only hit one shot into the hole my entire life from more than 80 yards from the hole. I have hit 2 nine irons and one sand wedge into the hole in the last 4 weeks!!!...the sand wedge was in a 2 man scramble that me and my partner shot 10 under and won $750 bucks. It's the first time in my life I'm really excited about playing golf again. The only fat shots I've hit in the last month was when I forgot to look in front of the ball. Thanks Bobby!!!!

I checked the lofts of the new TM irons to my 8 year old Callaway x-14 pro series. Here's what I found: tm 3i 19 x-14 21 4i 21 23.5 5i 24 26 6i 27 29 7i 31 33 8i 35 37.5 9i 40 42 pw 45 46.5 aw 50 52 Don't know how they compare to newer Callaways? Plus wouldn't the increase in shaft length make the ball flight go higher. I've always thought the longer the shaft the higher ball flight due to shallower angle of attack...don't know if that is true or not??

His round today was about as impressive as I've ever seen. Notice how he didn't swing the driver like he was in a long drive contest. He was very controlled. Plus, he made some long putts too. I say he wins by 9 or 10. But I am pulling for Padrig!!!!Padrig looks more like a nomal kinda guy on the golf course. I also noticed that Tiger may be reading this forum. He hit 2 bad shots on par 5's today and he kept his emotions and mouth under control...way to go Tiger!!!..
-
Not "that" wound up. And, I don't mind a player showing emotion. I just think there are more appropiate ways to do it in front of women and children. I love your sig my the way..cussin hacker... (I should have picked shanking slicer..but I bet it was already taker ) and I do throw out a cuss word or two now and then. Just not on TV or when my kids are along.

I may have an old chart but I just googled "golf club lofts" and it shows a 9 iron is 45 to 48 degrees..?...guess it could be an old chart.

Lengthening and Regripping a Putter
Titanfann replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Another idea would be take a putter you don't use anymore and get lead tape and a cheap putter grip and try it and experiment with different amounts of weight. -
Lengthening and Regripping a Putter
Titanfann replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've backweighted a few with lead tape. Problem is it takes alot of lead tape. Just have to cut about 3 inch strips and put them inside the shaft. It is cheaper and it will work just as weel but it's not adjustable. However, once you get it the right weight then that doesn't matter. If you search google you can find different weight kits. Some of them can be added to an existing grip by drilling a hole in the end once the grip is installed. Others come with a drip pre-installed. Good luck. Once you do this you can't putt with a putter without it. It makes the hands really stable as you swing the putter. -
Funny how you jumped to "beating". I didn't try to imply that you'd get a beating. You might get arrested or at least a fine for some kind of profanity around children. Didn't mean to imply you'd get a beating. Ya know I do wonder how the networks get by with profanity on their broadcast. Do they have to pay a fine everytime he swears?
-
All I know is if I won some kind of contest and I could take my kids and play in a foursome with a pro golfer,Guess what, I'd take Phil Mickelson or Justin Leonard or Tom Lehman, and at least 20 others before I'd take Tiger. There really is no real excuse for the way he acts. He should grow up!!!...If he was my child I would bend him over my knee and spank him. He's a role model for thousands of kids even if he doesn't want to be. If he doesn't want to be a role model then why don't he take his foul mouth and childish behavior and get off of the tour. What do I tell my kid if he drops an "F" bomb at school? What if he comes home and says "hey, Tiger does it!!". I really think most people think it's wrong and trust me, I can go on and on about it if ya'll want!

Hey man, thanks for the critique of my entire post. I don't agree with anything you said but as of right now it's a free country. He shouldn't stop it because an armchair quarterback says to, no. He should stop it because until he does he'll never be the greatest golfer in the world. I believe they call it a "gentlemans game".And, it really turns alot of decent people against him. And, you can think of golfers as self employed but they are not. If he only made money when he played then I'd agree but he gets paid alot form numerous companies and he represents them. And, he gets a pass for his actions because he's Tiger Woods. Can you imagine Byron Nelson or Ben Hogan acting that way. Being a champion is much much more than what you shoot. And, until he changes he'll never be the greatest. But, alot of people on here and I'm sure Tiger also could care less. Just kinda speaks alot to the moral decay of our society in general I guess. Try walking down the sidewalk infront of a school here in the good ole south and see what using that kind of language will get ya! I really believe he'll change in a couple of years when his kids start dropping the "F" bomb...
