What Is the Deal With Courses Going Cart Only?
Beastie replied to Quack's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I am amazed that courses charge a fee for using your own push cart. That’s shameful. The use of ride on carts( buggies) in the UK is still very limited. The two clubs I have been a member of both have buggies for hire. However the use of buggies in club competitions requires a medical exemption, otherwise it’s walking for everyone. Most courses in Uk pre date carts and there’s only a few I would want a cart for. Some recommended a cart but I’ve never heard of a course here where walking is banned. That’s part of the game ffs -
It’s how many not how heavy…

I’m going on the Sunday so no rain then please😀. 3rd time at the open in St Andrew’s. Its not the best course for viewing, the fairways are all higher than the viewing spots, but loads of good grandstand spots with double greens and tees.St Andrew’s feel different though, If you love golf( like me) it’s a bit like going to church.

Yes, but in tennis the players actions directly impact on his/her competitors. Not so in golf

Stroke play is harder to win. You have to beat the entire field. Match play you only have to beat 6/7 guys. Stroke play over 72 holes also decreases the effects of luck or variance, I might have a great day and beat a better player on any given day but the chances of me doing it over 4 rounds are less likely.

Fitzpatrick was 16th in driving distance for the UsOpen, 6th I think in fairways hit and 1st in GIR. His approach play has been top notch all week.

Great finale, great play from Scheffler, great from Zalatoris and great too from the winner. Best final round of the year so far in terms of edge of the seat drama.

It’s an eight iron with a happy ending…..

Just got in from work, what’s the craic? Is it just on Sky (uk) that there are goalpost graphics or does everyone have to suffer that abomination?

How many players to be under par? The rough looks tough, I’m picking Rory for this year.

It’s always had the prestige of being the first……… Before the masters, the US Open, the PGA, before the US even had a golf course. Before Custer lost 10&8 to Sitting Bull, before Gettysburg. First counts for something.

I was gonna post this but got sidetracked. He’s really good at his job. Specialises in short , fact loaded explanation and analysis. He is definitely worth watching on other topics.

One of the things I don’t like about watching golf is schmalzy sycophant commentators. Well after 5 minutes of watching LIV, I’m nauseous already. Hyperbole, ass kissing, “everyone’s just so happy and relaxed this week”.🤢🤮🤑 Its not a golf tournament it’s a bullshit exhibition.

If there’s one course that’s a good fit it’s the Old Course. Tiger plays well there and it’s flat. If the course is dry and hard he might be worth an each way bet.

You don’t win 6 majors because they were gifted. Would you say JT was gifted this after Pererria gassed it?
-
Well he has a few PGA’s to console him. Perriera must be a broken man…
-
You could see that coming from the front nine…poor thinking under pressure. He will do well to make bogey

Just watched the last hour on catch up and am finally up to speed. Some very nervy golf today.
