  2. If you are really a 7.8 I'd bet you will hit a 3 wood pretty well off the deck. But you need to try it. Maybe he putts with a hockey stick?
  3. Club is in like-new condition with a stock Diamana blue 62 g regular flex shaft. Also has a brand new Winn Dri-Tac grip. Includes headcover but does not include adjustment tool. Asking $100 shipped to US only.
  4. I use a simulator at local Golf Galaxy (also happen to work there part time) and it seems almost dead on to me, but your mileage may vary. We have a couple in the store, the old school enclosed one and a newer model that I can't remember the name of but it is simply a little box that sits next to the tee area and links to a hard drive with a big screen monitor that does it all. I prefer the new style one rather than the enclosed area with the projector-type set up where you hit into a fake driving range background. The one I use is almost identical to the distances I see on the course, unless there is wet/wind/dry/etc. on the course. I'm sure you can find a decent indoor simulator at other retailers, too. Don't be wary of them! It's actually funny to see all the customers who claim to hit "300 yard drives" really hitting it about 250 with the latest greatest drivers and blaming the simulator. Scott
  5. Sure didn't take too long for the jerks in the south to chime in about how they never have a winter... Have a great sandy/green Christmas you fools! I hate the winter, it's when I seem to develop new aches and pains that take until July to work out.
  6. I have about a 95 mph swing and I switched from the Pro V to the Bridgestone E7 and shot the best round of my life the next day. Lol, I know it sounds like a cheesy commercial, but it really happened. I would give the E7 a shot, what's the worst that can happen? My drives are like low rockets now, not nearly as high even with a 10.5 degree driver. Scott
  7. Hi folks, I have a 2007 TaylorMade Burner driver with the shaft that came with the driver right from the factory, and I was wondering if anyone knew or had a link for info about the specs of the shaft(s) used for these drivers? It is a stiff flex, but that is all the info you can see on the shaft itself. I was wondering about the torque, kick pint, and any other relevant info. I am looking at duplicating ht especs for another driver I am 'putting together'. Thanks for any info. Scott
  8. I've seen him do this many times! Scott
  9. Playing for $$ people should never pick up balls unless the opponent says so. We usually give putts inside a foot or so. Scott
  10. a 93 is better then 99% of all golfers shoot! Next round will improve (you hope) Scott
  11. Shot an 80 after an 81 Friday. Starting to think I will not break 80 no matter what! Scott
  12. Shot an 81 this weekend with a Maxfli Noodle (one ball the whole round!) Scott
  13. Just for kicks I tried the baseball grip this weekend a little and it was VERY awkward to say the least. Scott
  14. Lol, I almost quit a round last weekend but remembered this discussion! Scott
  15. Update: Back stretching has made my hip/back pain almost unnoticeable. Scott
  16. I'm sorry but I would have told the british guy to go F himself if he was like that with me. Unless you are someone's guest at a country club or playing at a private place, no one should be acting like that. Like it or not, it's what you get for playing at a public golf course, where everyone pays the same and has the same right to play there! I would love for someone to talk to me like that, I would make sure they had the worst day of golf of their life by taking about 20 minutes to line up each shot, etc.! It's one thing to know all the rules and practice etiquette, but that guy sounds like an ahole. Scott
  17. I just wanted to update my post here, I have been strictly following a rigorous stretching regimen I came up with myself for about the last 3-4 weeks, and it has made all the difference in the world. My back, although stiff from time to time, is much better now and my hip is pain free as a result. As far as distance/club head speed, I am now measuring my swing speed anywhere from 95-107 mph, which is substantially better than the 60-65 I was only able to produce a few weeks ago. Of course, I still have to make solid contact on the course no matter what the speed is, but that should come around. I've been out twice so far since the exercises and the last time out shot an 85 with a few 200+ yard drives. Bottom line, increasing flexibility/strength has made all the difference in the world for me, and has also rehabbed my back injury. Scott
  18. Ray you didn't mention if you have any physical "ailments", but I can tell you from experience that back/hip issues will KILL your mechanics. I was hitting my drives 230-250 last year pretty regularly and was an 11 handicap until November when I hung up the clubs for the winter, then developed some sort of lower back/hip problem where I can barely move some days, thought it was a torn hip labrum but MRI negative. I have gone out three times this year and have yet to hit a drive over 150 yards and have shot 96-94-94 on easy short courses. Measured my swing speed (with a pretty crude spring loaded device) at 60 mph this year when it was 85 last year. Needless to say I am about ready to quit the game for good since I can't even reach longer par 3's with my driver now. I guess what I am getting at is make sure you are 100% healthy before you go to any pros for lessons.
  19. Well I had an MRI last week and it did not show a labrum tear in my hip, so I don't know what the hell is going on. Doc was obviously wrong, unless the tear is there but not showing up on the MRI. I have noticed the pain in my lower right back and buttock seems related to this, and may be some sort of sciatic issue. I went out today and took a few swings and almost started crying form the sharp pain in my hip a couple times. All this with about a 60 mph swing when I was swinging 85-90 last year at worst. Scott
  20. You know its actually kind of funny, when I swing CORRECTLY it doesnt seem to hurt but if my hips are off a little and my swing isn't as fundamentally sound it KILLS! Might be a good swing training experience, kind of like shock treatment... Scott
  21. Hoofreak did you ever end up getting the hip surgery done? I have a torn hip labrum as well and I am having it scoped soon. I am just wondering how long you had to wait to golf again, if you got the procedure done. Thanks for any info. PS, I dislocated my shoulder back in my football playing days about 15 years ago and also tore my shoulder labrum, never got it surgically repaired and haven't had any golfing issues from it since. The fastball on the other hand went from about 80 to 45 mph, so you won't be throwing the heat anymore unless you get it operated on! Scott
  22. I would like to be able to score better instead of hitting a bunch of good shots and shooting mid 80's. It seems last season I hit some great shots but still couldn't score any better than I did in '08. Maybe I've hit that wall... Of course, I've had major hip pain that has gotten worse and worse since last summer, so it may be tough this year until I get it fixed (after the season, of course ) Scott
  23. I was slicing drives quite a bit this past spring and I noticed Rocco Mediate in a tournament (forgot which one) and how he has a REALLY closed stance, way more than others. I tried closing my stance a bit like Rocco but not quite as exaggerated, and also turning my hips slightly into my backswing at address (before my actual backswing begins) and went from slicing once every 2-3 drives to slicing one about every 8-10. Made a huge difference, but I'm not sure it isn't just a band aid for now. I am certainly no expert but as someone else mentioned I agree that the address is VERY important, especially for those who slice it. I have actually even been able to hit controlled draws like this with fairway woods (but not often with my driver, it is a 460cc and seems tough to work the ball with). I have probably knocked 2-3 shots off my rounds since I started doing this. The only drawback I have noticed is that it has become difficult at times for me to aim properly with my closed stance and I end up pulling some irons left, not hooks, just missed left by 10-20 yards. And of course trying to draw everything and when it goes right where I aimed (right) without drawing. Nothing the range wont fix... Another thing I have tried in the past that seemed to help, at least with the swing motion, was to find a hill and stand at the base and take some swings as if you were hitting a shot that was above your feet on the hill. It seems to promote more of a turn in the swing and may help with the outside-in problem. No one mentioned this yet, but depending on how serious you are about the game, you could just aim the slice if you are happy playing at the level you are at now. A pal of mine shoots high 80's with a 20-40 yard slice. Whatever you try, good luck and have fun. Scott
