Come to think of it, there are a few members at my new club who never wear a mask either. I generally keep my distance if possible. And I also try to limit talking even with a mask on...I wish more people can be vigilant about it. Times are weird now but this shall pass. My goal is to delay contracting covid until there is a vaccine/treatment/cure.

Golf is a safe activity until irresponsible golfers get in the equation. My current club caters to visitors, mostly from out of state. The parking lot is full of out of state plates every day. There is supposed to be a 14-day quarantine/travel restrictions but I doubt any of them are following the order. My club is not enforcing it either. From what I have seen in the last few months, many people came as a group in the same car. No masks. They shared carts and sat next to each other at the bar/patio to hangout. They pulled out the flag and they spit. Eventhough masks are required in the proshop, I have witnessed many who didn’t wear one because they were just going in “for a second”. At my old club, masks and social distancing does not exist. People do whatever they want because they say it is a private club. Large groups congregate at the tee boxes and they hangout on the patio afterwards. Many times I couldn’t even walk thru the patio because there were so many people (and I didn’t want to either). There has been multiple positive cases at my old club, I am surprised there aren’t more sick people there yet. My husband works at a hospital and he treats covid patients. So far, they have zero cases in the department staff because everyone takes covid seriously. Unlike the idiots who think just because they are outdoor playing golf, they don’t have to follow safety protocols. We cannot have nice things because of a few bad apples.

That was stupid and not funny at all. NEVER TOUCH SOMEONE ELSE’s ball. PERIOD.

It’s time for you to introduce him to the rules and etiquette of golf before this becomes a habit. The sooner the better. Sure, no big deal if he is only planning to be a casual golfer, but if his intention is to eventually make it on the team, he needs to be honest about his scores and start practicing telling the truth now.

@Mr22putt Currently a SC Newport. Better get back on topic - I don’t want to continue to hijack this thread! Send me a PM and we can chat there. By the way, Callaway balls at Costco were on sale/markdown last week. $20 for 2 dozens! -
Good idea to get last year’s model! I will look into that. I still remember wanting the piano black back then because it is so pretty, but I put a phone cover on it immediately anyway so it doesn’t really matter...

I am still using an iphone 7+ and it has been acting up, so it’s about time I get a new phone. I need to see the phones in person before deciding which one to get. But I want the pacific blue. Too bad they don’t have the moss green from last year, that’d have been my first choice in color. My husband always gets me the newest of everything and he’d take the hand me down. He wants me to get the 12 pro max, pacific blue, 512...he probably won’t get a new phone for himself until his old one dies.

Saw it at the Scotty Cameron Gallery in CA years ago. My husband said he will get me a My Girl if I get an ace or become a single hcp. I honestly think he didn’t think either would happen...anyway, it is pretty to look at but that darn flower on the top gives me double vision so I cannot game it🙄 -

I am not even going to total up the cost of my bag😅 Thank goodness that of all the My Girl putters out there, only one caught my eyes so that’s all I am going to get... -
I have not played anywhere outside of my clubs but read on a local golf forum that tee sheets are completely full at non-membership courses and it is near impossible to get morning tee times. Where I play, 4 hours seems to be the acceptable pace but to me, that is slow. Maybe my expectations are higher since I am not used to a packed course. Last week, I set up a friend to play a round at my old club. After sending him off, I drove 30mins to my new club, played 18 by myself, another 30mins home and he still hasn’t finished 18! I thought that was an extremely slow round but it was still played under 4 hours...

I play fine with my 4 years old clubs - I don’t think expensive clubs/clothes would help with my game, so no thanks! I do have 3 Scotty already, no need for more either...I can, however, use a new car...so...😉 Here’s my pretty Scotty... -
The 2 young men in carts SHOULD be faster but my experience tells me SENIOR LADIES (NOT senior men) usually play faster! They may not have the distance, but their balls are almost always on the fairway and they play ready golf. They also play from the correct tees and don’t fuss about egos. I am already an extremely fast player at my course but there are a couple senior ladies who can out pace me any day - walking! They once told me, at their age, they don’t have time to waste👏🏼

LOL...I can get alot more expensive than this🤣🤣🤣 -
My normal schedule is 18 on weekends and 9 during midweek. I have only played an additional 9 a handful of times during the week because I finished my original 9 early and I felt I did not swing enough. I only play in the morning and have a membership so I actually can keep playing for the rest of the day - but I don’t.

Most people are too busy with their own game/issues they won’t have time to keep track of your game! I find that those who asks to join others really don’t care how good/bad you are as long as you keep pace.

Kastle and Stockli are both very expensive but worth every penny! Lol you guessed WRONG! I only have one pair of ski boots. It is fitted and has a pair of very expensive insoles in there - I can only afford one pair so no point getting extra boots to rotate. I also only have 1 pair of golf shoes😂😂 They are regular walking shoes and I only switch out when they are worn. Yup I do both, actually I was a better snowboarder until I started taking race clinic and got hooked! I just finished 18 and shot an 81. I am happy with my score but I really struggled. Lost my distance again😡 I have not shot double bogeys in a long time but had a few today. Oh well. Will try again tomorrow! -

My swing was fine. What changed was somehow my weight was on my toes, causing my body to dip forward at impact, catching the heel of the driver. Not sure why I was doing that but I did get new shoes a few weeks ago. As soon as I adjusted my weight distribution, everything was back to normal. I better still be able to hit at least 160 when I play at sea level or I am quitting golf😒😂 Yup, still have shoulder and knee pain after golf but that doesn’t stop me from playing. Neither will bad knees stop me from skiing. As soon as I see snow (or grass for golf), all pain goes away😅 Instead of golfing/skiing every day, I do every other day now. I am a level 5.5 in both skis and snowboard according to your link. I don’t ride parks and I don’t jump off cliffs. Here’s my quiver - I don’t have all in one photo. I got rid of 3 and narrowed it down to 5 pairs last season: Stockli Laser AX, Kastle MX Limited, Kastle MX84, Kastle MX89, Kastle FX96. I can probably add one more if we ever get more snow... Less than 2 months of golf left for me. I am feeling sad - maybe I should go play 9 now... Btw, I played Varsity tennis in high school and I have played enough tennis for my lifetime... -

I lost my drive a few weeks ago and I was terrible when I played with this guy. I had to remind myself to not say “I am usually better than this” 😂 Thank goodness I found an instructor who spotted the issue and corrected it immediately. I am back, stronger and better than before. I was starting to drive ~210yds on average, then poof! I was back down to 160 if I am lucky. Now I am creeping into the 220-230 range but my husband kindly reminded me that air is thinner at Paako🙄 I also drop my loft to 8 degrees. Yes, Taos is the best MOUNTAIN in NM. It is about 4 hours from home. I am still planning to move up there in December and stay until March. I just bought my season pass...$1600+tax. OUCH! Last year was only $950 and they will limit capacity to 50%. I am not sure what is more expensive - ski or golf. I ski about 70 days a season so the pass is still a better deal than buying a daily ticket. But skis are expensive - I buy a pair every season and they are about $2000, and I do private week lessons too just to ski with a former world champion racer (he is from Canada). A former gold medal Olympian just joined Taos so I want to ski with her this season too! Damn...I may need to get a job or my husband can moonlight... And the female ski posers sound like your guy. Most are from the East with experience on ski hills. Not mountains. Their black diamond is equivalent to a green at Taos. Sure they can “come down” in one piece but that’s not the same as being able to SKI IT🙄 They all talk like they are master carvers but they are barely turning parallel...my goodness..delusional! I am a much better skier than I am a golfer, and I consider myself an intermediate at Taos if anyone asks me. I think it is ok to be a poser in golf - worse that can happen is a bruised ego, but in skiing, it can kill you... -

I did meet and play with this guy recently who talked nothing about his game but hit a mile from the tips. I have never seen anyone hit that far and that accurately, AND is humble about it. I have played behind plenty of guys who played from the wrong tees, barely made it on the fairway, then get all excited about their “350yd drives”... The female golfers I know don’t talk much about their game or how far they hit. They like to gossip about something else. But...I have met a gazillion female skiers who are posers!!!!! I am in a couple skier forums where we actually do meet up to ski together. Most from the women forum think they are higher levels than what they really are! I kid you not! They all claim they are advanced/expert level skiers and yet when I finally skied with them, I realized they are, at best, advanced beginners. Oh my...but not a single male skier I have met claimed to be more than what they really are. -

What’s a poser? I’d love to hear your story😅 -
I have taken many lessons in the last 4 years but only 3 were playing lessons. The first one was to get me off the range to get a taste of real golf v. hitting balls. The second one was to learn how to play - etiquette, basic rules, club choice, etc. The third was when I switched course and wanted to learn course management to stay out/get out of trouble specific to my course. The most helpful lessons I have ever had were all taken indoors, on a mat with a simulator. But my instructor could take the lesson outside if needed. My chipping/pitching lessons were done at a real practice range and he found a slope off the side to teach me about uneven lies (ball below/above feet, slope left/right, etc.). For me, the playing lesson was helpful when I had specific questions or situations on a particular course that were repeatable and I wanted to fix. I probably wouldn’t take a playing lesson randomly if I don’t have anything in mind to ask.
