Is than an S52 year?

I do love some Dead Guy Ale. That said, the 90 minute IPA is just wonderful....Yet the 60 and 120 are totally unenjoyable for me

I had the Alaskan at a Hotel in Montana on a ski trip. I absolutely loved it. Atlanta is home to Sweet Water Brewing. They have a pretty awesome lineup consisting of 420, Blue, Hummer, Road Trip, Motor Boat and a few others. 420 and Hummer are two of my favorite beers. If you can get your paws on them, you'll love them.

I think he's trying to say par-able. I've found that with my J36s, I'm in a much better position for birdie ops on good shots, and looking bogie on any mishits. With my TA6s, it's pretty much just par all the way around...Just how difficult I make it for myself. More clearly, leaving myself with an easy two putt vs. an up and down situation with the TA6s, versus a wedge and two putt out versus a makable one-putt with the J36

How Many Sets of Irons Do You Have? What Are They?
HotSauce replied to Mr.Mongo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would love to hear your comparative impressions as you have some pretty stellar clubs there..... Thoughts? -
Which irons next for shot shaping?

I just picked a set up and feel the same way. And you can pick them up for next to nothing on eBay. Lobsterzilla - have you played the pocket cavities? -
Frozen fingers - ideas?

Just stumbled upon these on Uncrate. I tend to trust Nike when it comes to stuff like this... http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?coun...LAID=441027822 -
What's the rest of your game like? With a 28 Handicap, I think I'd spend my money elsewhere. That said, I think the HiBore is a good suggestion. How'd you hit the R7? That's what I currently play, and like it a lot. I've also had some great success with the Diablo Draw.

First Mini-Review - Bridgestone J36 Pocket Cavity
HotSauce replied to HotSauce's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well, not what anyone wanted, but iPhone pictures. I should also clarify that I got these babies with the Project X 6.0 shafts. Again, let me clarify. I assumed they'd still be forgiving, but I thought this was a close to zero sum game when you move among high quality clubs. For example, I was expecting to lose 50% forgiveness, and gain 50% workability (clearly these number are arbitrary, but stick around and you'll get the point). In actuality, between the TA6s (I went to a demo days and hit a LOT of irons before buying these...I truly don't believe there was a better GI iron set in the market 4 years ago), I'd say I lost 10% in forgiveness, and gained 50% workability. This was a VERY welcome surprise. And that 10% of forgiveness is only lost at the VERY edge (Difference between duffing a ball and whiffing altogether...). At this level of play, I don't think I lost much of anything. To further elaborate, the MP52s and 57s (I think...I'm all confused lately...), were the benchmark I was aiming at. But I wanted to be different, try something new, and save some cash. And the glory shots.... -
I've been eyeing these for quite some time, as the reviews on them (though sparse) are stellar, and the prices on eBay are pretty reasonable for a new set (~$300 if you want the pocket cavities, a little more if you're looking for a combo set etc.). Well, we're part of the way into finals season here at Emory University and through some late night procrastination, I was "play" bidding on some random things. Basically just putting in nice and low numbers on stuff I want, but can't afford. Well, I got a set of 4-PW Bridgestone J36 PCs for less than $220 shipped. I truly never believed they'd arrive, and I'd be filing with PayPal. And if they arrived they'd be fake. And if they were somehow real, they'd be used. BOY WAS I WRONG! Brand spankin' new, shrink wrap on the heads and grips, in a Bridgestone box. And took like 4 days to show up at my door. I had previously been playing Cleveland TA6s, which I've gamed for about 3 years. I love these irons dearly, and have sold a number of others on Cleveland irons for game-improvement. My best friend plays TA7s, and I've seen my dad sneak my bag to the range when his game is falling apart. For my handicap, I hit my irons VERY well given my handicap, and have an aggressive and athletic swing. My irons were always the best part of my game, so like a true golfer, take what isn't broke and try and....well, make it better I guess? I took the Bridgestone's to the range for the first time today, so I'll reserve this review as set in stone until I get more time with them. That said, first impression was very, very good. I brought the J36s, along with my favorite Cleveland irons (6i, 8i, PW) to do some back to back testing. Today was VERY windy in Atlanta, which was kind of a good thing as I was really curious to see how well I could work these. Initial impressions: Sound - Very pure, and satisfying on a well struck shot. I never cared much about sound (I used to play a Callaway C4) so don't take my word on this. My Clevelands *sound* softer Feel - Crisp, but dampened. While the feel was very direct, it felt somewhat muted. I mean this in a good way. Mishits sting a lot more than the Clevelands, but normal shots have a firm but not jolting feedback. After going back to the TA6s, they felt muddy and deaf. Play - Here's where they shined. My ballflight is slightly lower now, and definitely a few yards longer. But the real beauty is in how easy they were to shape. With a 20+ MPH wind, left to right, I could hit a draw into it, and virtually eliminate its effects. I tried and tried with my Clevelands, but they just wanted to go straight. To play any noticable draw, you REALLY had to work at it, and often ended up with a mishit or a duck hook. The J36s are awesome in this regard, but this was expected with more of a player iron. Mishits - This was surprising to me. Every ball I hit, was a shot I as a high-handicapper would call "good." 5-10 yards of error, even with all the wind. So I got curious....I started hitting balls off the toe intentionally. Where the TA6 would suck up some yardage and still go in some vague, general direction of intention, the J36 simply gave up if you REALLY miss the thing. And hurt like a banshee. But the surprise here was that you don't have to be a perfect golfer to hit these well, virtually all of the time . I have no complaints so far, and was loving the fact that I can hit virtually any shot I want, and retain (almost) all of the forgiveness of a game-improvement iron. I will be updating this with scores, more impressions, and I'm sure some pictures in the near future. But as of now, I can't see myself going back to my beloved TA6s.

Tiger...not the first golfer with problems...give it a break..
HotSauce replied to juanrjackson's topic in Tour Talk
I admire Tiger for his play on the course. He is in no way my role model as to how to treat my significant other. There was no indication that he ever should be either. Drop it. This in no way affects the way he hits a 9 iron, so I don't care. -
I did that when I was younger. My pro at the time did it as a training excercise and I started holing putts. That said, it probably took a month before I was comfortable with it. Come to think of it, I may try and get back into it. As a basketball player, I was always taught to look at the back of the rim. This is the same kind of thing and for me at least, it keeps me from visually trying to correct my swing which leads to bad muscle movement. I'm far better at just putting a good stroke on the ball. If I stare at the cup, it's pure muscle memory. Yep....I'm going back to it.

My scoring But really, partial swing shots. If I can't hit a full shot, I am extremely inconsistent.

I recently moved from a PW, 56 and 60 to a PW, 52 and 56 on a black friday deal on the TM RAC Satin wedges. I'm not sure if it's a result of moving to matched wedges (Vs a Cleveland CG10 and a Cleveland Tour Action 900) or a result of the loft changes, but I played my best round so far with that setup. I've come to terms that I'm not good enough to play a reliable lob wedge, as I used to hit a lot of flop shots. Dropping down to easier to hit wedges has put me more consistently on the deck albeit takes away some of the surprise factor of hitting a stellar flop a few feet from the pin, but has overall helped my scoring.
-
I'll second the Cleveland testament. I think they're great game improvement clubs. I currently have TA6s, and have hit TA7s extensively and like them a lot. That said, the Ping G10 is probably the best GI set available.
-
Quoted for absolute truth.
-
52* (Just bought the wedge...TM RAC Satin) from 120. A bit of fade, to the back right of the green. Spun back about 6 feet leaving me with an 8 foot birdie put which I holed.

I play a lot of Cleveland. Used to play them exclusively. I started with a Launcher 400 which I liked a lot. It was just too small given today's average drivers. That said, I still pull it out occasionally, and is just as long as my R7, and far more workable. That said, it wasn't very forgiving. My irons are Cleveland TA6. I absolutely love them, and many who have tried them have switched over for Cleveland irons. Very long, very forgiving and well balanced irons. As a mid to high handicapper, they work well for me, though I want to move to the Bridgestone J36 at some point. I also play Cleveland wedges, the Tour 900 and CG10. Not much to say here. I love both, though I think I'll be stepping up to new wedges in a different spread this season. I have nothing bad to say about the company. Even their gloves are awfully nice. Every experience has been quality, and I've never felt behind in technology, even with sticks a few years old. What specifically are you looking at?

Mine may be a bit dated....But we'll see. Driver - Taylor Made R7 Superquad 460 10.5* Farway Woods - Nike CRP Hybrid-Wood 22* Irons - Bridgestone J36 Hybrid set 4-PW Wedges - Vokey 52* 56* 60* Putter - I actually really like my Nike T100....But probably the Scotty Cameron Detour Ball - Either Titleist Pro V1X or the Bridgestone B330

Yep, MyCaddie keeps stats. It can be slow, but if you keep your phone on, it's instantaneous. As long as your battery is charged before you leave, you'll have no worries. It's quite accurate, gives a Google maps view of the hole, records stats, etc. I've had no issues, and it's free. That said, I'm not sure if it's worth switching to the iPhone solely for this app.

The Footjoy Pure Touch Glove, Worth it?
HotSauce replied to zanga254's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I'll go out on a limb and say yes to this one. I've spent a good bit of money on gloves, and I play them on every shot. Just like people who claim that spending money on Pro V1s is worth more than spending that same cash on your driver. Go with what makes you feel comfortable. Golf is such a mental sport, that any little edge can yield a big difference. I'm personally partial to Nike Tour gloves as well as the FJ Sci-Flex. Cleveland makes a great glove, but the model escapes me at the moment. Wait for a coupon, grab one, and post a review. -
Have a Blackberry or iPhone? I have decent luck with MyCaddiePro which is a free app.

Digging that there are some car guys here as well. I would LOVE to find and Alpin white E30 M someday....

I've been toying with picking a set up to replace my Cleveland TA6s. They can be had for basically free on eBay. Especially if you're not above playing a used set.
