  1. All this ball flight law stuff is getting quite old and tiring... back to the topic of Martin Hall, he was a European tour player and is rated as one of America's top instructors. I appreciate the fact that he is trying to simplify things- putting things in easily understood terms that one can transfer on to the course when actually playing a round, and issues are arising. If one is stuck thinking about so many mechanical factors during the swing, the body will become confused- you see it on the range/course everyday, people running through the list of thousands of swing thoughts before they take the club back. Having one simple thought, maybe two, is about the most one can think of in the middle of a swing. IMO he's trying to get one to play the game, shoot at the flag, and have fun- not be a golf robot with too much data clouding one's mind.
  2. They will feel great when you flush one, they are a forged club. The down side, if you struggle with good contact, is that they are not as forgiving, obviously. Forged clubs will also bend/tweak easier, especially if you bang a lot of balls at the range on rock hard mats, in turn meaning you will have to have the lies and lofts checked more often than a cast club.
  3. I believe your right hand squeezing too tight can begin to take over your swing, causing hooks.
  4. I've been working on this method with very good results. Haven't lost a bit of distance, perhaps gained a few, coming off of stack and tilt. Laser straight balls when hit properly. I became interested in Moe's swing as I heard this swing was easier on my back. It is. Graves Golf Academy is also teaching the swing: http://www.moenormangolf.com/index.php Also don't worry about regripping to try the swing out. If you like it, you can always work with your own grips and/or add a few wraps of tape under a normal grip where your bottom hand goes. Natural Golf is real product oriented...
  5. Does anyone really give a hoot about what you haters aren't going to do in your spare time? Wow, thanks for your valuable insight! I'm think I'm not going to Taco Bell today because I hate their food.

  7. Works great for me as well. I try to imagine feeling the sweet spot on the putterface and ball are one before I gaze at the hole, soften my focus, making my eyes real wide and try to see everything (which helps me relax), and pull the trigger. Helped me get rid of the yips, and made putting fun again. Check out "Instinct Putting" by Eric Apenfels.

    rc cars

Me too, used to run offroad electric and gas, then got into electric sedans/pan cars. Next ran nitro 1/10 sedans and 1/8th scale. Managed to place in the top 40 at the Nats in sedan and top 20 at the Nats in 1/8th scale 6 or 7 years ago. Had sponsors, etc., but got married and had some children, so just didn't have the time to put into it any more. Golf is time consuming as well, but not nearly as bad as RC Racing was, especially when you have sponsors and need to keep up with the competition. I have to say sometimes, golf may be even more challenging! Currently trying to get rid of all my old cars (memories....), of course to use the funds for more golf crap! LOL!
  10. Could also be related to your tempo numbers. I have similar speeds but much slower tempo reading (3), so regulars were recommended for me exclusively.
  11. Denatured alcohol. Available at hardware stores.
  12. Agree 100 percent- if you stand on the Wii balance board, it puts your feet way too close together for anything more than a short iron or wedge distance. I'm short (5' 7"), and it is still way too narrow too accomodate my driving stance (little more than shoulder width). I also agree that holding the controller for Tiger's game is unnatural feeling, and could actually do more harm to your swing mechanics than good, IMO.
  13. +1000
  14. Try this- envision exactly the fade you want to hit. Imagine it taking off on path you want, see the fade in mid-flight, and watch it land where you want it to. The more detail you can imagine the better. Now, take a normal stance, aiming left to accompany the fade. Divide the ball in half in your mind, parallel to the target line, and simply imagine hitting the inside edge of the ball first with a normal smooth swing. Hit the outside edge for a draw. This gets rid of all the mechanical stuff that you probably already know subconsciously, and lets your body do what your mind is telling it to, without confusing it. I learned this watching Eddie Merrin's videos: "Swing the Handle". This is what I found helped me more than any technical swing thoughts.
  15. Rammstein- P*ssy
  16. The way BJ destroyed his face, I was wondering if he was just torturing Sanchez. I know BJ was somewhat cautious about gassing out, since it was a 5 round fight, but I can't help but think he could have finished Diego in round one, no problem. Probably the best fight I've ever seen of BJ. He wasn't even breathing hard at the end! I don't know if he'd ever be able to take St. Pierre, the guy is simply too big IMO, but BJ is definitely the best lightweight on the planet.
  17. I wonder if the recent tantrums were a result of stuff happening off the course? I sure don't remember Tiger acting like that years ago (??), and I'm a big believer that the golf game is a mirror into one's soul.
  18. I loved Kevin's demeanor through out the series. I think many would be doing themselves a favor in copying his ego-less attitude. In the end maybe a little bit of negativity did not allow him to play his best. I also loved Giuliani's mental game. Mike's on course behavior was atrocious (didn't see him fix any divots, let alone all the turf damage from chucking clubs), which is a real turnoff. Respect the game, man, act like a pro! Having said that, it was interesting to watch him ride the highs and lows and eventually dig himself out of a huge hole. He is definitely a grinder. I think if he just tries to have more of a "so what" attitude, the sky is the limit for him. He's way too hard on himself. Entertaining show IMO.
  19. New member here, greetings from overcast Glendale...
  20. New to the forum, but I've recently watched Mr. Merrin's videos, and IMO, they are fantastic. He takes a lot of the mechanical b.s. out of your head and gets you to focus on envisioning your shots and letting them happen. He does not advocate hand manipulation at all- rather using your forearms to swing the handle. In reference to the comment regarding tempo and rhythm, you must find your own. Everyone is different, which is why he would not tell you what you must do. In the video, Eddie speaking style is simple, slow, and calculated. This can be sometimes difficult for us ADD types to follow, and sometimes it seems possibly over simplistic, but IMO the way he speaks exemplifies the way your brain should operate on the course. Keep it simple, be patient, and let it happen. I've been out of golf for a few years, but have been practicing hard recently. I used to play a slight draw, but lately it's turned into straight balls and fades. I couldn't for the life of me get that ball to move left. After watching Eddie's videos, I went back out, got all the mechanical crap out of my head, and started working the ball left, and right, at will. Thinking too much about hands, legs, planes, blah blah- it was killing the trust in my natural abilities and clouding my mind over the ball. I'm a believer now in "swinging the handle".
