  3. Anyone ever use one, or know if these are something worth trying? Thanks.
  4. Did you just use automotive touch up spray? If so I would guess it will crack. If you go with a paint shop quality paint or possibly bumper paint it should work out better as they have the already mentioned additive allowing for flex. Either way, it looks cool. Good work.
  5. +1 this is more along the lines of what I was thinking in my above post but didn't know how to get it across. Well put.
  6. This is an interesting topic, as many on this forum have talked up Mizuno (which I love) and I probably wouldnt have noticed had I not joined. On the flip side, some of the negative talk about products have spurred me to check them out or avoid them all together. Once I have a full time teaching job i will be using much of what I learned here to help me make the bag I really want. To answer the other question, no, lessons would not have helped me more than my purchases because my whole bag including the bag cost me under $300 and I need it to play. Before I build the bag I want, however, I will be looking into more lessons.
  7. I watched the first episode with an open mind and really enjoyed it. Rush seems to really want to learn and has a lot of thoughts in his head, like most amatuers do. As long as the show keeps the amount of non-golf comments/comments that do not add to the show (such as the Oprah one) to a minimum I think I will enjoy the rest of the season. As others said, I just want to see some instruction and what works for Rush. I like Haney's approach with the thoughts (something along the lines of "if he can replace his 14 with 2 or 3 of mine, he will be a better player"). I find that when I concentrate on one part of the big picture it really helps.
  8. Euro: Luke Donald US: Bubba Watson
  9. 1st it is an opinion, which last I checked is not right or wrong, it is simply my opinion. What is illogical to you is your opinion. Golf is also a game of tradition, yet this has been an issue since when? Were viewers calling out Jack or Arnold? Or did they just not make rules infractions or own a telephone? "In ethics, integrity is regarded as the quality of having an intuitive sense of honesty and truthfullness in regard to the motivations for one's actions"
  10. Add another vote to "no" unless the player is notified before he signs his card. It is bull that someone can be DQ'd for an infraction that was seen and called in during or after the round but the player was never notified. The rules most of these guys get called out on are often insignificant (yes I know they are rules none the less) and the player doesn't even think about it being an infraction. Viewers aren't officials. Officials are a part of the game and are human, mistakes are made. If integrity is the issue, then players should have enough of it to call an infraction on themselves.
  11. I would lower your tee height and address the ball the same. Sounds more pre-shot oriented than anything.
  12. The Wilsons were not very straight for me, some yes/some no...thus 4 GIR. But they are very small cavity backs that are 20+ years old. I certaintly don't expect to be able to hack at the ball with the sumos, I guess my question is more geared toward to what extent will the size of the clubs/way they are weighted affect shots I have from different lies (rough, sand, uphill/down/side)?
  13. Amen to that, I'm South Central PA and this sucks...
  14. I know this thread is old, but I didnt want to start another. I just bought the str8-fit Machspeed 9.5 for $67 on global golf. I wanted a newer driver similar to my nike 5900 with less loft and this fit the bill perfectly. To the OP, how are you liking it? Any opinions from others who have used it? Besides the lower loft, should I expect to pick up a few extra yards with the lighter shaft and different head design, or no?
  15. Just wondering what anyone's thoughts are on it that have used it during a round? ball flight forgiveness effectiveness of adjustability gain/loss in distance over other (past/present) 3w
  16. Thanks for the opinions guys, I'll have to remember the thread after I go out a play a couple rounds. Could be a while though...I dont get out too often as it is and it is snowing right now
  17. Long story short...needed a cheap set of irons, bought some sumos for under $100, could they hurt my game? Slightly longer version...I've used Pinemeadow irons, pro combos, MP52s, MP58s, 20+yr old Wilsons since I started playing 2 years ago. This past weekend I shot 81 (43/38) with the Wilsons but only hit approx. 4 GIR. Last 3 times out over the past couple months have all been low 80s, could the Sumos actually make me worse (masking deficiencies that I have been correcting)? PS. I'm not into working the ball, so no need to bring that up..straight-esk works for me. Thanks
  18. 81 at Briarwood East. 5 over 43 on the front with 5 pars to open...which were unfortunetly followed by a bogey, double, and 2 more bogeys. 3 over 38 on the back with a pair of birdies This was shot with my dad's 20+ year old Wilsons, that are not very accurate for me. If it werent for my play off the tee and around the green I would have been in for a long day. I just bought a decent set of sumos for under $100 that I will try next time out to see if my accuracy and distance improve some. These will probably be a temporary set though, any thoughts on what forgiving sets to look at for less that $200? Thanks.
  19. haha, I could care less what most of the guys on tour wear, but I agree that the fit matters. I hate watching golf thinking half the guys should be wearing a "bro".
  20. nice job man!
  21. ...no...winter sucks
  22. Yeah, I was rolling on my last 9 at +1 thru 6 but I did not play the wind well at all on the 17th 170yd par 3 leading to my double. I had just enough time to go back and re-play the 3 holes that were over par and went +2 instead of +4 on them so that made me feel good. Yes it does! Makes me want to get back out tomorrow when it is suppose to be in the 60s and not so darn windy.
  23. Went out for the 2nd time in the past 2 months today and shot 45, 41, and 40. The 45 and 41 were shot in the morning at Briarwood's East course, then I went back after work to the West course and played the back 9 at 4 over for 40 (they have a play all day special - $20 w/cart and you can go to either course at any time during the day). I was even through 5 which was cool. For all of the crazy wind we had in south central PA today I was really excited to shoot the 41 and 40, my lowest 9 hole rounds ever. Round highlights: Great chipping and putting (chipped one in for par) Couple of awesome 3i shots Solid driving but the wind dropped my avg. drive by 30 yards...ouch Only one true blow up hole - 7 on a 4 Lots of pars...unfortunately, no birdies Just wanted to share!

    Golf Mat

I got this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Premium-Golf-Mat...#ht_3076wt_729 for the starting bid price ($25) and it has been great. If I hit a fat shot I can definitely see it in lost distance. I dug out a small spot for it in my field and it does not move around much at all. Through approx. 1-2k balls it shows no wear at all and accepts a wooden tee. Really nice for $25 I think.
