  1. Went out today and played 9 with my dad. Long story short I shot a 44 which is right around average lately with the typical penalties (4 today) sprinkled in. I was money with my irons, hit both greens on the par 3s. 150 and 160 yards. I just can't seem to shake a poor mistake here and there. Anyone else experience this at any level? I feel like I am a low 80s player but will rack up 5 or 6 penalty strokes in a round leading to an 88 = (
  2. lmao, nice
  3. I'll stick with my 58s, I know I am biased but I think they are some of the sweetest looking clubs out there. These new clubs look like Mizuno is trying to mesh with the rest of the market to sell more clubs (looks & the stronger lofts). They aren't bad, I just feel like they are not as unique anymore.
  4. Haha, I did the same thing. Hit the green on my very first swing on a short par 3. My cousin looked at me like WTF?!?! and then I proceeded to play like a noob does...some good...but mostly bad :)
  5. I do not like them at all. They do appear to blur the line between the MP and MX line though, which may be a good thing.
  6. I would be doing it in my back yard. I have enough land to do it, or I could hit into a net. You can feel whether or not it was crisp when hitting off sand.
  7. Should have specified, I would be standing on a level platform next to the sand with my normal golf spikes.
  8. I guess my response to that would have to be...set-up. You do not set-up or attack the ball in the same way for a greenside bunker shot vs a fairway bunker.
  9. Saw someone else on here was using sand. Would this be a relatively good teaching tool? It seems like it would force you to have good contact, you can see where you bottomed out a little easier, and it would be easy to maintain and repair after each swing. Thoughts? (please do not come in bashing this if you never tried it) Thanks.
  10. I have been, but thanks.
  11. wow, where do you play? I think I will steer clear of that area. That is insane.
  12. Graduated from East Stroudsburg University in May this year with degrees in Health & Physical Education and Health Education. Having a hard time finding a job due to the massive school cuts taking place around me, in fact, many schools are not in need of subs...making it impossible to get experience and therefore a job later on. So...I was wondering if there are any reasonable positions within the golf industry I would be able to get, or go back to school for (maybe wouldn't have to go as long since I already have a degree?)? Anyone here work at a course or with a golf company?
  13. I am looking for a pair as well, what is everyone here using? Wheels, the Tifosi glasses seem nice. Do you like the Oakley's better?
  14. I will try to make a long story short... -I do not carry any fairway woods now -I took an old TM Pittsburgh Persimmon 3w 17* steel shaft (My dad's) to the course and hit it between 220-230 with straighter/better trajectory vs my hybrids. It will take the place of my 16* hybrid for now. -I liked that it had feel when I hit it vs my graphite shaft hybrids. So...would it be strange to carry a steel shaft 3, and maybe 5 wood? I guess this would have to be custom made? Should a newer style head be more forgiving and longer than the old TM? Am I missing a graphite option that would be better? I am quite confused and need guidance on this. Thanks!
  15. Yeah, a lot can go wrong from a fairway bunker. Many people do not practice longer sand shots, so I would say they are one of the harder shots in the game.
  16. So.... 4 weeks later and I just called the pro shop...no wedge. I am still baffled. O well. I went ahead and got a 52 and 64, so now I have 47, 52, 56, 64. The gaps are pretty nice now, but I was money with that 60, so it is still sad.
  17. Nice. That double double is what separates the great from the good. Keep that early round feel, focus on your routine, think about the conditions (wind, lie, etc.). Sounds like you will reach your goal pretty quick the way you are going now. Good luck.
  18. I think Zeph was on the right track bringing up handicap. However, it is probably more about ball striking (which will correlate pretty well with handicap). If you are not hitting GIR then it really doesn't make a big difference which ball you play. From one ball to another, a good ball striker could hit the green consistently. The difference would result in how the ball would react on the green (little--------a lot of spin).
  19. I don't think they are intending to say you compress by pinching the ball between the club and the turf...eventhough they state that at one point. They are saying that your swing should "feel" that way, which as Iacas pointed out, is another topic. Most of that short article refers to angle of attack. I would say they are right on with this, as I see 90% of divots coming in the crater variety at my local courses.
  20. Glad to hear some positive feedback on these since I play the V1s now and will have to switch at some point.
  21. Graphite for woods and hybrids, but i would go steel for the irons (little more accurate and better feedback).
  22. I stop the ball within a few inches of the ball mark on approaches of 140 yards or less and have had no durability issues with the gamers. Im not saying it is a false complaint, but I think it is over stated. But most people here play vokeys or similar wedges, where as I play $12 wedges haha, so that could be the difference.
  23. +1, this seems like a good idea.
  24. Well just to give you guys an idea of my game, here is how a double bogey happens for me... 400 yd Par 4, hit my driver leaving between 90-120 depending on terrain and conditions. Birdie is on my mind every time, so no negative thoughts, yet I manage to pull off 5 shots from 100 yards...really? Now the bassackwards part of it all is that I do great on par 3s. It is like I am scared to put myself in position for a birdie, and if I do I can never convert. EDIT: I just thought of a question I should be asking you guys...What club SHOULD I be hitting from 20 yards? for chipping? I do not yet have the Pinemeadow wedges in my sig. so you can ignore those. Thanks for any input.
  25. I had to pick consistency, get rid of a few bad holes today and I would have been high 70s/low 80s.
