my wife has a conference next month in san diego. I'm dying to tag along since the resort has several golf courses around it. not sure if my newborn baby is going to cooperate with those plans...

Oh, how could I forget Danang, Vietnam. Still to this day, the best golfing experience I have ever had! Such a beautiful untouched area

I was having a mental block with bunker shots for several months and it was killing me! But then I ran into someone who gave me a good tip. He said to put the ball where I think my swing would naturally bottom out. And then just take a nice swing and be sure to follow through. Ever since then, it's worked for me. Just don't quit on the shot at the ball.

New York New Jersey Connecticut Maine Vermont Maryland Delaware North Carolina South Carolina Virginia Florida Would love to play out west... wonder if it's a big difference like snowboarding on powder as opposed to a sheet of ice in the northeast!

South Africa was my most exotic country

for nyc, your choices are going to largely depend on having a car if not, the easiest place by subway is van cortlandt next would be dyker in Brooklyn and lastly Bethpage by LIR and cab if you do have access to a car, then there are so many more options!

wow, didn't know there were so many uptight people on this board i think a lot of people look at golf as an escape... a place to relax and forget their worries if it's drinking, smoking a cigar, or taking a toke it really doesn't bother me as long as people are having a great time there's a time to have fun and then there's a time to be serious

Why are there so many push cart haters?
abraxas replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
i'm not gonna lie, when i see a younger guy -
when i was first trying to break 100 i didn't even think about what ball to use i was just so focused on hoping not to lose it at least for me, i couldn't tell the difference from one ball to the next... i liked precept laddie, srixon soft feel, nike pd soft... get them used so you never feel stressed about losing them and wasting time looking for them

Anyone playing Tour Exotics XGC# Hybrids or FWW
abraxas replied to georgeshot's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a TEE XCG-5 3 hybrid in 19* stiff shaft i'm selling if you're interested Just swapped this out for a 5 wood. I'm better off hitting fww than hybrids -
is it common for someone shorter at 5'7" to have clubs bent upright?
-
thanks saevel, 2) the pings are actually CFS stiff and the mizunos were TT Dynalite regular 4) I was thinking about the lie issue since I see a lot of hits off the toe. But that tended to be from the 7-iron and longer irons. Not really sure what toe hits mean in terms of ball flight, etc
-
Hey guys, Seeking some insight. I recently switched irons from Mizuno MX300 regular shafts to Ping I20 stiff shafts. My 6-iron in MX300 went about 170. End of last year, I tended to hook a lot of my iron shots so went to fit myself on a launch monitor and it seemed like I needed a stiff shaft. So that's how I ended up where I am. Recently, played about 8 rounds or so (all with the new I20s) and I'm crushing my driver and 3-wood, which is really nice! But no matter what I do, it seems like my irons are all fading/push fading. Do you think it's the shaft? The less offset of the pings? Ultimately, could it be my swing? But I love how I'm hitting my woods right now....

Good looking out! Thanks

Thanks for the tips. I got the dress code down...I've never played in shorts with a belt. That's going to be very uncomfortable. Forgot about the tipping so great reminder. I usually end up with 20s in my wallet from the ATM and hate asking for change.

Hey guys, So I'm traveling down to Florida for the first time to golf. Very excited! Anyway, someone I know is a member at Mirasol and invited me to play with him and to have dinner at the clubhouse. I've never had any experience with this so my question is, what's the proper courtesy for the golf and dinner? Should I get him a gift? Like a box of pro V1s or something?
-
short answer.... whenever you feel like it! but seriously, i started out with hand me downs. doesn't really matter what you use in the beginning since all you want to do is advance the ball forward. then i bought a set of used, very forgiving SGI irons. after a while, you begin to understand shaft flexes and ball flight and then realize maybe i need to upgrade the equipment to maximize your game. through it all, part of the fun comes from trying out different clubs

i just got a set of i20s. didn't even consider them until my fitting. ended up hitting them the best by far. felt really nice to me! been playing the mx300s before them

Basic putting tips for a beginner
abraxas replied to redandwhiterob's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
something simple someone told me a month ago that helped me a lot with your putting, don't try to push your stroke but initiate your swing by pulling your stroke by that i mean, try leading with your left hand towards impact and keeping your trail hand as passive as possible -
you are not alone! i played a round yesterday and felt the same sensation but for me, the twisting seemed to happen on the backswing and i tried to somehow compensate on impact result was a lot of hooks not really sure why it happened...my guess was that my right hand must have been set very strong by that i mean turned over to the right (im right-handed) im going to play again tomorrow and will address this and see what happens....

haha this is funny... only because i went through this same problem last month. for me, i was definitely coming in to out. BUT a lot of times i felt like i was trying to swing very hard at the ball and held on a little too much and didn't rotate my hips enough. so i went to the range and tried to pull the ball by making my hands swing more "left" after impact. once i got that feeling grooved, i just concentrated on keeping my head behind the ball and making a similar swing. don't know if it'll work for you but it straightened me out. *hope that makes sense, im not very good at verbalizing swing thoughts*

why do people get so bent out of shape when others say golf isn't a sport? who cares? i just find it funny that golfers dont even carry their own bags and basically just walk around and hit the ball 70 times. and only half those hits are actual swings...the other half are just putts! not to say i dont love golf but c'mon
