  2. Expected injury. with those swing mechanics and impact position its a train wreck to happen.
  3. Yea he shot 59 a few times in competitions also and holds a number of course records. None was better, not Hogan nor anyone else Nicklaus or Eldrick not even close. if you want to be ignorant go ahead but all the angels knows Moe knew the secret. Moe was the best everyone else played for second. He was and is unmatched as a ballstriker. at older age he retain the accuracy but not the distance and was plenty long in his younger days.
  4. He could hit any shot shape he wanted. He was the best ballstriker in the game.
  5. Few days old changing his mechanics is being done from that video and in progress. None of you hit it longer than him, none. Changes started to be implemented. Most changes already done hip and muscle activity needs time to adjust to the change to due to some restovers from old modern mechanics. Some sweet swing motion there simple and direct without complications or risk for injury. Gonna go get some superb coffee now and sip it slowly while admiring my coaching and swing work on this guy.
  6. Normally I dont respond to threads where people simply put isnt good enough to even debate the definitions within the logic set of in this case a golf swing. Personally I find it tiresome and I value my time and energy so I seldom spend time on golf forums as I am busy working on definitions. I am self taught so that means I dont pass any credential you would agree upon would be needed since if your teaching a tour professional you undoubtly need some qualification. Right? I can make you hit it longer I added 50 yards once to a tour pro level player witin 5 minutes and 30 yards to his irons with his old swing mechanics but that dosnt prove anything, and more accurate but then again that dosnt prove anything, I could putt better than you or any tour pro you choose and improve their putting and explain why along the way but then again that dosnt prove any credentials. I could and have taken a triathlon athlete to enter championchips from a beginer to national level and Olympic Status and she lost out due to sweden only sent one to the 2008 Olympics even though she did beat the other girl they did send with compeitions here in sweden. That other girls name was Lisa Norden, silver in the last London Olympics and world champion in triathlon. Still it dosnt prove anything. Surely not even have any credential to it either. That I talk to amatuers sometimes on the range struggling with their swing and have them hit the ball better than they ever done and their smile is so wide you can fit a melon in there? I dont change their swing as I work with the swing they been taught and make it work for them. Still wont make me have any credentials either to teach any tour professional either. That I can take someone who been taught a golf swing from credential trainers from the PGA teaching circuit and change their swing to hit longer and more accuratly and proving their old teachers wrong in the process again does not qualify me for anything. I am good well actually better than good in what I do so its also why I dont open a golf school as its not what I want to do. I dont have an interest to open a golf forum either or to start a video series or tell people why this works better as I said many times to others, tour level golf you can play with pretty much any golf swing system as the swing dosnt make the player. I do however study the golf swing and I choose to do that with the Mike Austin swing system which btw isnt correct in how Mike did it which I told those guys and they dont appriciate that btw and I done so to assist someone to be a tour pro even if that dosnt qualify me for any standard of education or such but he listens to me instead of people here or elsewhere on forums havent much to do with any qualifictions I had back then or today just that I am good in what I do. And no, I wont answer that question in what I am good at for you. if you want the answer you go find the question. I been kicked out of the Mike Austin facebook group due to me said things they dont want to hear. I been told to stop posting on Dj Watts (wax golf) site due to me told him what he did was in need of a change. It means I seek the truth and dont excuse myself just beacuse what I say is not the popular version you and others might want to belive in. What does qualify me is simply I know what I am doing and dont need to guess what makes it better. In the cases I dont know there is no answers in the golf forums, books or trainers or players as the field of golf instruction pretty much is the definition of a lack of definition. Then I go dig it out in the dirt to find the answer so I then an teach it in a way that make sense so you can actually do it. Most tour pros are pretty much clueless as all they can communicate is, it feels right or it feels wrong but no idea what to do about it and listen to experts can make them worse and loose their cards. I can communciate that feel to them beyond what they are able to talk about in a manner they can understand and then do what I ask them to do. Still I wont offer anything that actually qualify me for teaching any tour professional here. Its not what I do as if someone needs to ask me for qualifications then they are not worth my time or energy normally. Thanks for asking not sure if you are ready for the answer though. I met an aspiring tour pro in Spain 2011, showed him to be better than any trainer he had, he havent called yet as he was afraid how good he could become.
  7. A modern swing has its limits as well as an Austin swing. What many modern swing systems have done is to add excessive cordination with timing. Injury happens due to the player wants to hit it longer but cant due to the system itself wont allow longer without going outside their limitations. If the player reside inside the golf systems limitations then they be fine. When someone would say that having athletic ability would be worse to have when swinging a golf club is pure lies spread in the golf community. The more athletic a swing is that helps with timing and action as its easier to do than a position based swing which a modern swing would make you do. While both can be mastered the modern swing will make you a short hitter and more inconsistent and will risk the chance for injury. Anyone says otherwise they are lying or being ignorant. An austin swing will make you hit longer and will lessen the risk for injury by having a more athletic approach. It dosnt mean you cant be injuried or that there isnt positions to match but we are dealing with relevances of chance here. People can be injuried in baseball if they dont warm up at age 50 decided to do a home run and then strain a muscle. Cant blame baseball by being stupid at the same time. If you dont have an austin trainer close by you either need to travel or spending a lot of time mapping what they want you to do online and its likely you are better off with a local teacher one you find suits you no matter the swing system they teach. Finding one good can be a hassle though. The difference with an Austin swing is distance but also increased accuracy with lessen dispersion patterns. The guy I apply this for was a 300 yard hitter with the old modern swing but also caused back injury. He wasnt that long when we started out but the distance gain I helped him achieve caused him stress and injury due to modern swing limitations Currently I am assisting him to be a 350yard hitter within the realm of the austin mechanics while increasing accuracy for the game of golf. No issue with his back or injury anymore though. And before anyone asks, no I dont teach amateurs currently as I only interested in tour level performances. if your a PGA or LPGA player then I am interested.
  8. Brandel is correct. 4+ years and this generations best player cant do what Sean Foley teaches consistently. clueless is what comes to mind for me.
  9. If all stands equal, their skill level isnt good enough. The variance of a top 100 golfer on the LPGA vs a top 100 PGA is huge in difference. all stats shows the same thing only like top 30 on the lpga is close to another where the PGA the seperation happens after top 100. its why a lady (Anikka) could dominate the LPGA tour but a PGA player cant. If your not pushed to be better then you wont. the US girls is now feeling the pressure of the asian invasion, Lydia Ko will dominate the tour unless leadbetter curse aka fix her swing happens for a decade or more. Yani Tseng lost her game as soon she did listen to her Leadbetter trainer. Hard working asian girls and lots of them is coming.
  10. Its Jack and Eldrick will never come close to what Jack did no matter what he does the rest of his career. That Open record just speaks volumes.
  11. You mad Bro? ;) Upset even? Dont you understand? Dont feel bad I can help you with that. I understand the limited mindset you have and others have, its ok. You dont want to understand? cool :)
  12. Whenever talent or natural ability come up I go watch this, http://www.ted.com/talks/black_my_journey_to_yo_yo_mastery.html However I am sure he had talent and natural ability and succeeded the first time and pulled all that off in a minute. He had God given gifts and his hand behind him I am sure. Most can practice a lot, wont make you good, just a bit better, then a few understand that deliberate/deep practice allows you to become good not just better and then there are even fewer that also understand that a superior strategy allows you to succeed beyond what people call talented and natural ability.
  13. Common attitude. If you want support from people to do things, forget it Do your thing, become better.
  14. Golf is a game of margin for error and not making mistakes. once you do that, your solid and good. tour pro has a 10 shot difference between the best round and worst round. Padraig Harrington 3 time major winner shot 80 in wells fargo. tour pro´s good? a 3 time major winner he still shot the same score as Dan. yes different coruses, different set up, still if those guys are so good, why shoot 80 especially since you won a few times even 3 majors. did his talent became tired?
  15. No wonder you suck due to golf instruction pretty much is clueless in general its not your fault. I find it funny when I see a PGA well known trainer who people think is good, train someone and my brain is like why do he teach that way as it makes it hard to learn and do? I talked to some trainers also, and I talk to players also, once you know as I done added 50 yards to someones driver and they hit it long in regard to others in 5 minutes, you have to ask what they are doing in golf. I see so many posts about what happens inside your head before the impact and I go, dont they know once you start the swing its automatic and no consious interuption is needed? why do people insist they can control things in a swing action that happens in a second or so that is beyond their own perception during the sequence? oh yes, your golf instructor said you can do it. Talent is a conceptual idea people use when they have no clue and make guesses. its more comforting for people that fail and blame their lack of talent for the reason insetad of something else like drug abuse, or being lazy or simply listening to bad instruction. In regard to Dan, he is doing a plan, wont mean its a good one. He works a bit to much, he has bad mechanics IMO, but a good short game, so once he get the ball striking going which is unlikely he be dropping a lot of shots due to the rest of his game is good and solid. he struggles now due to being short and wild. due to a lack of sequence and pivot.
  16. 10000hours is a reference number, any sport its seldom about the mechanical technique stuff, as many basket players who succeed can handle 200 days of travel, 80 games, any distractions like groupies and drugs on tour. Those players that have trouble leaving home, are easily seduced by the success often goes away in spite of being talented for their sport due to them lacked "talent" of you know a good night sleep, no alcohol and girls on room during the tour. I just find that when I meet athletes they have pretty much no clue what to do to bring out their best game every time. and they have won olympic medals even. anything people bring up about talent you can learn to do, unless its about height or such you know variables. its just easier for people to belive in secrets and mystical ideas like talent. anyhow, Dan is a short hitter and would need to increase those numbers a bit to make it a bit easier. 40% gir is really low. He spins out way to much. .
  17. Nice you asked. I needed a hobby so I set out to find out how to do that. I found that most golf instruction pretty much is bad. digging trough all that waste to find out what its about allowed me to teach a tour level pro to hit it with 4 % dispersion pattern PGA tour average is 8% with a 5i, and to hit it 300yard carry+ what did you do the last 3 years? In the process of doing that, at age 49 currently and having chronic fatigue symdrom (CFS) the last 13 years (google it) I simply put cant work at the speed a kid can or someone half my age. I just find most people attack without having any definition and actual facts behind them, due to them believe for some reason they cant do it so they project that is then true for everyone else also (not so much). I find such attitude limited to hold and your free to have any attitude you like but beliving things like fairies or james bond dont mean they actually exist out there. I worked with people who had 5 brain tumors, people who wanted to kill themselves, and some that doctors couldnt help, some of them while meeting me are living good healthy lives in spite of what the doctors told them. I come from such a field of people who had you know real problems about life and was told no help was there for them and I was able to find a way for them sometimes and sometimes not, however they were better off after anyhow. I survived cancer when I was 13 which left me with no thyriodea gland and a lifetime of medication and after looking someone in the eyes with 5 brain tumors and as they are writing their will down its always nice to be asked questions that people have no idea about anyhow, I seen people doing things and learning things that you wont accept in your lifetime. Talent is a word for those that dont understand. Anyhow, to answer your question which you so nicely asked, I am doing fine with the progress as my swing mechanics is now better than ever and reaching the level I sought 3 years ago. Today I had a breaktrough with it, thanks for asking as I hit 3 balls within a yard at 140 yards. Now even if that is a fluke and pure coincidence and just shows talent isnt needed if one is lucky and have accidents. If that progress shows anything to the level of game I am able to do this summer, well only time will tell right? I end this with, if people only view where you come from and where your at, well then my lad you be going back in time pretty much. The future is mine.
  18. He hits it short and wide. his short game is good however he have lots to do with the ball striking improvement. Learning and especially instruction is crucial for improvement and if it isnt good, it shows up. In regard to the language and talent, here is one described in the book who learned 28 or so languages fluently and he started at age 19 with his second language. Dynamic_Learning_by_Robert_B_Dilts_and_Todd_A_Epstein
  19. Not true. Another myth out there. Just beacuse you guys cant do it dont mean you suddenly need talent to do things as you cant do it.
  20. depends, many amateurs played for 30 years or more and still havent figured it out. I meet amateurs that you can outhit with a 4i when they hit driver. I met amateurs same age as me that hit spoon as far I hit a 7i. He runs out of space in his swing one reason for errant shots.
  21. 250 carry with the modern swing is a lot for an amateur. I dont meet many that actually is able to do it. most overestimate their distance by 30+ yards. won a long driving on fairway last year in wet conditions, not much roll of any and a lot of them half my age. 250 for most is a dream.
  22. he worked backwards, he havent hit driver as long as he hit the shorter sticks. He isnt a long hitter and he is inconsistent, however his game once it picks up a bit more consistency will be good. atm 40% gir hurts him more than anything else. fear from tee with driver then hard to make greens due to fear from tee. his clubfitting might make a tad better action going which would hopefully translate to 60% or more gir. People who belive in talent make bad guesswork.
  23. well said. ball speed if one do trackman should be consistent, if it varies to much your distance will be inconsistent. Tempo to make solid ball striking contact the same every time is often beyond an amatuer player.
  24. Practice alone wont make you better if that was the case the one who practice most would win it all. finding out what to practice and how and make changes accordingly and measure how to become better. as you progress more jumps in performance becomes rare as the skill level may plane out, the mental ability to adjust to course management, play the procentage shot and consistently make putts etc.. Once your start to measure your progress stale moments and needed changes becomes obvious but most cant adapt to such and continue their own platue. and dropping handicap from 30 to 20 is way easier than from 8 to 1. Measuring putts I am for example 5 or more putts better today than 3 years ago and consistently under 30 putts round. Measure it, apply change, adapt, increase skill.
  25. if you want to use a wheeelchair as you grow older then copy that swing as your lower back will crash.
