  1. Thanks
  2. Correct, there are no fences or nets. The road in question is normally not busy, but road construction has routed a lot more traffic that way. I've only seen one other drive bad and long enough to get near the road.
  3. While playing a couple of weeks ago, my group hit a situation that we didn't know how to play according to the rules. The hole in question is bordered on the left by a road that is OB. I pulled my drive left and it was sitting in bounds right at the edge of the road. To hit my shot I needed to stand in the road. The speed limit on the road is 40 mph and it was a busy Saturday morning. I took a drop to keep from getting hit by a car. I understand you don't get relief from anything OB. Are there any provisions in the rules for a drop when player safety is a concern?

If you follow the recommended method from Golfshot and click the red lock instead of locking the phone, the GPS will stay active but the screen will turn off. If you lock the phone using the lock button on top, it will disable GPS requiring a bit longer to narrow down your location when you unlock the phone.
  5. You will definitely want to call the courses you play. My brother-in-law restored an old cart with hopes of saving like you. Unfortunately, he found out that most of the courses here in north Alabama charge "trail fees" for using your own cart that make the savings per round minimal at best.
  6. City Club in Marietta,GA has a similar setup. Each cart had a GPS screen that showed your location and the carts in front of and behind you. The screen would also display a message telling you that you were behind pace. It's a great tool if you're courteous and care about keeping pace. Unfortunately, the guys we were paired with hit so many balls in the woods that it was impossible for them to keep pace. I think it would be a good tool for the clubhouse to monitor and identify areas they might want to send a marshal.
  7. I played in an outting on Memorial day weekend with 15 other guys. The most popular format seemed to be two man scramble match play. We also played shambles which are a lot of fun if the course is real tight off the tee or you have players that really spray it.
  8. I think we have a different definition of physical prowess then. When you can play at the upper level of competition (PGA Pro) and look like this....
  9. Like bowling and poker? I'm firmly in the game camp.
  10. You might try talking to the pro at the shop. I worked out a deal with mine when I did the same thing. I paid 1/4 of the normal dozen price for each sleeve.
  11. I'm the same way. It's just a club! Worst case scenario, they make a ding or mark on it. It will still hit them just as fine. I'll play the odds and be courteous.
  12. It looks like a pretty good mix. I was really hoping the annoying rancher would get knocked off first thing though. I hate chest pounders that talk all kinds of crap to instigate a fight when they know they're protected. He may just be a victim of creative editing, but I can't stand him. I haven't seen enough of their games to say who I think will win. My favorite personalities are Carl and David.
  13. Price is my issue too. If it was $50-75, I would already have one. I'll probably end up with one anyway, but $100 for a relatively simplistic training aid seems stiff.
  14. I would just chalk it up to the price of hitting into someone. Accident, apology or not, you screwed up big time. Getting hit by a golf ball can be fatal. So the old guy was pissed off. There was a high road to be taken that he obviously chose to avoid. You acknowledged you had been waiting on them all round. The wise play would have been to wait until you saw both carts. I'm always astounded at the cavalier attitude so many people have about hitting into the group ahead. Accidents do happen, but if they do, apologize profusely for being an idiot.
  15. Add another vote for Adidas shoes. I've had lots of different Footjoys and Nikes through the years. The Adidas shoes are on a whole new level of comfort. I have 2 pair of Adipures and a pair of Tour 360s. Thank goodness they don't make a spikeless version or I would be broke!
  16. Here you go. :) http://www.radargolf.com/
  17. Is the new version available in the US? If so, I'll have to give them a go. I've only played 9 holes with the UV. They felt great off the tee and seemed to hold greens nicely. I couldn't get comfortable putting it though. I had zero touch. It's unusual, but probably just me. The ball was in great shape after the round. I'm saving them for a golf trip to the coast next week. I'll report back then.
  18. I finally found what looks to be a good quality ball that doesn't cost an arm and a leg like the z-star. I ordered a dozen to try out that should arrive in the next couple of days. The regular cost is $25.95 a dozen. They're call Vision and are an Australian ball. You can check them out at http://www.visiongolfball.com/ .
  19. I recently purchased both the GX-1 and GX-3 to test. I'm liking the the GX-1 considerably better than the GX-3. The GX-3 field of view seems smaller, the field of view or magnification seem smaller, and it doesn't pick up pins as fast. The only positives I see are the illuminated reticle, slightly smaller size, and cooler look. Anyone that's tried both units, am I missing something? I just want to make sure there's nothing I'm overlooking before the GX-3 goes back.
  20. Another vote here for Golfshot.
  21. I've read in the forums here before that high temps in humid weather give you more distance. Is this true? I played my best round of the season today on the hottest day (heat index 108) of the year too. I was hitting the ball considerably shorter and it felt strange at contact. I was having to hit one club stronger than normal. This is my home course, so I'm familiar with what I normally hit where.
  22. Are there any GPS units (other than the OnPar) out there that do shot tracking? Callaway has emailed me saying they're adding it to the uPro, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  23. You'll also want to look at shaft length in addition to loft when trying to fill in a distance gap. All the hybrids I looked at had significantly longer shafts than irons.
  24. That 148mph is shortly after the tee. You're ball is going much, much slower at the end of the flight.
  25. I hope you have better luck with it than I did. I was never able to complete a round without it locking up.
