I was watching the champions tour and it sounded like most of them like doing it because the pressure isnt there to win (they still want to win of course) they do it because its fun and what better way to retire then play golf with your buddies...
-
i say use whatever works best for you and helps you score the lowest..
-
always play the tips unless paired with with people who dont (my course has a big difference between whites, blues, blacks) to keep pace up, or anytime we have a club tourney we play from the whites unless its the club championship.

i always think i will win, i am super competitive and think the same way when i play a 12 handicapper or a +2. if you go into not thinking your going to win you probably wont. i play with guys who are better then i am and it has dropped my index a lot. if i am playing some one i always seem to do better i think its because i slow down and think about every shot instead of just doing the norm.

How to get down lower than a 5 already!!!
taterlrsn replied to enis750's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
i was hovering around a 5 last year and i played by my self a lot and practiced and played every day. i found that i was rushing my pre shot routines and finally when i got myself slowed down the scores started dropping. another thing i did was ask my pro who else in the club takes the game seriously and wants to practice. he introduced to a guy my same age. we practice together about 4 times a week and its nice because we are always trying to beat each other and if one of is struggling the other has a good idea of what we are doing wrong. just my 2 pennies... -
my handicap now is a 1.7 (yes i need to update my profile). my club i just joined has many member only tournements during the year and one happened to be a member guest two man scramble. My friend has been a member for a long time but took a year off to get his business going so he wasnt a member and we paired up. i have never belonged to a club or played in flighted tournements (always play stroke for stroke either i win or loose). we are both good players so i am thinking we would be in the "A" flight. at the end of the first nine we are 8 under and my buddy tells me we need to slow down or they will put us in the "A" flight. i asked him why that would be a bad thing and he told me that the guys in the "A flight" are all great golfers and they are sandbagging today which causes everyone else to do the samething. So i go along with this because he had been a member there for 10 plus years. so the second day we were flighted to the "B" flight and wouldnt you know it we took second in our flight we shot a two day total of 22 under. so im looking at the "A" flight totals and every second day score was 17 under or more. im looking at the winning pair and one says he is a solid 9 and the other says he is a 10. and yet they managed to shoot those scores which happen to be the exact number before they shoot themselves out. after that first tournement i have been asked many times to play with people in up coming events and then they find out my handicap is what it is and they want nothing to do with me. the club champion who shot a 62 last year and the year before has a 4 handicap. I just cant get myself to do that i have worked to hard to get that handicap to sandbag!!

Butch Harmon (Instructors) Don't Know Ball Flight Laws

thats a great video!! -
i had the same problem, i asked the pro at my course if he knew anyone who played as much as i did and he introduced me to a few players. you might try that.

I frequent a range with a pro and he knows i always help my buddies out to a certain extent. but he also knows if they want to take the game seriously and get better (most of my friends play once a month) i will walk them in his office and introduce them and tell my buddy to get a lesson. I guess every situation is different, i am at the range at least 4 days a week so i see him, i can see his point but it sounds like he could have gone about it a better way. instead of just saying he is going to throw you out he could have introduced himself and offered the free 10 minute lesson and earned your buddies business. I have started a few ventures and i couldn't see myself running someone away from the range I work at, I would have looked at it as an oppurtuinity instead of a threat. just my 2 pennies...

I'm so bad I can't enjoy golfing.
taterlrsn replied to BadGolfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
if the club isnt coming through square at impact i would just start with your grip. make sure you can see at least your first 2 knuckles. then put your right hand accordingly. then line up to the ball, square your right foot (keeps you from over rotating) and flare your left foot (lets you get through the ball easier). then take half shot with a full follow through making sure your head stays at the same level. treat every shot at the range like a real golf shot. do your pre shot routine ( line yourself up, waggle, or what is best for you) after you hit the ball stay in your finish positin until the ball stops moving.. once your making good contact with half swings move on to full. -

- people who are late! - health care reform! - a golf instructor who "thinks" you are doing something wrong! (looking for a new instructor) - slow drivers in the fast lane! - guys who talk to you in the bathroom!

i used to sell a lot of cars on craigslist and recently stopped because of all the spam. i can put the ad on another site that puts the ad on craigslist and i dont have to deal with the spam! I think the spam is out of control, and i heard on the radio that hlf of the things that are sold on craigslist and ebay are stolen. this actually concerns me because i have bought many sets of clubs on craigslist and now i wonder if some poor guy got his clubs stolen and sold to me via craigslist!

taterlrsn replied to tws1098's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
just recently i started hitting a little fade so i went to my instructor and he said the shafts on my titleist 755's were not stiff enough. so i bought some used callaways with stiffer shafts and hated, then i brough my old mp 32's out of the closet and reshafted them and was going to play them but didnt like them as much as my 755's as they were about a club shorter and a didnt like the trajectory. I hear everyone say the 755's are too hard of a club because they are forged from stainless, but if you are a good ball striker they both fell great. there is definately a difference between the two and different does not mean bad. i know a lot of guys that use all the clubs youve mentioned and they are all good golfers. just use what your comfortable with and forget about what anyone else says. thats why they make more then one kind of golf club lol! -
I didnt date much in high school either but that was mainly i never had time with hockey. but just be yourself and be confident! stay away from the drinking and the drugs and just have a good time. i promise you some of those girls are just as nervous as you are! i personally didnt have many friends in highschool because i traveled all the time for hockey and i am having a blast today in life! be yourself, be confident, go to college, get a good job where you can golf everyday lol!

I have the 755's and love them, i usually switch between them and my mp 32's. i believe steve stricker still uses the 755's on tour? -
just another insurance broker lol

I think it is a good thing he is playing out there for 1 reason, exposure! Just like the original post said he usually doesnt follow the nationwide tour. If Jerry Rice can get the nationwide tour exposure it could mean good things for the other players, like bigger prize money and maybe more sponserships! just my 2 pennies.....
