  1. OK. So there you are, in dreamland & teeing up in front of 20,000 rabid, slightly drunken Arizona State mentalists. Then you wake up.... But what would you ACTUALLY do to tee the ball up during the Waste Management at the 16th? Sell your soul, leave the wife, stop drinking.... Personally I would sell my house just to hopefully make the green in front of the loudest (& sometimes cruelist) crowd in all golfland. You????
  2. I like this thread because I have exactly done the same thing with the same balls & maybe I'm being daft but I have seen a definate checking with the ProV1 on the Par3's. On a very quiet day at my club I play 2 different balls at each Par3 to see how well/close I hit them. I hit the NXT Tour well but as another poster said the feel of the Prov1 is noticable even to a 12 handicapper like me. Unfortunately I cant afford to play ProV1's all the time so for every dozen of those I buy, I buy maybe 2 dozen NXT Tour's. Bet the OP is glad to know he aint the only wierd one testing balls for Par 3's!!!
  3. Seeing as wind/lie/etc are all going to play a part, that was pretty close to being accurate for me. Only the Driver was really out.
  4. APPLAUSE!!! Very nice end to the round there.
  5. Good wedges & a good 3 or 4 piece ball is the only way to get the spin you are after, plus the perfect swing etc etc. PROV1 / Nike ONE Tour / Penta best top priced NXT Tour / Callaway HZ / e6 next best Vokeys or Clevelands for the wedges...
  6. DavidFehertysBike PLEASE change your big stick to the 909 & go all Titleist, go on I know ya wanna....
  7. Easy peasy....lag putting at home/office. Will be 90 & still do that lol
  8. I have no idea if this book is available stateside, but it certainly is in the UK & it is extremely funny..."The Wit of Golf" by Barry Johnston. A bumper bag of humorous anecdotes and amusing tales from golf's best-loved personalities that proves golf is a funny old game -- birdies, bunkers and all! Read hilarious stories covering everything from caddies to the clubhouse by the game's all-time great characters, including Peter Alliss, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam. Enjoy the humour of legendary players such as Seve Ballesteros, Tony Jacklin, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Tiger Woods, as they share the funny side of playing in the Open Championship and the Ryder Cup. Laugh-out-loud at celebrity golfers Bruce Forsyth and Michael Parkinson's rib-tickling anecdotes about pro-am tournaments and club golf. THE WIT OF GOLF is a wonderful collection of jokes, stories and anecdotes, perfect for any golf fan.

    World Cup

Love England to win, but on previous World Cup form & the best player on the planet having a great tournament my money is on Argentina & Lionel Messi
  11. Honest to God there is no right or wrong way to choose a flat stick, but something I have found to be true sort of echoes what blackxpress was saying. Find one that makes you feel confident when standing over it, one that looks good to you & one that you somehow keep looking back to in the store. Then buy it KNOWING it was the right purchase, if it cost 200$ or 20$. I didnt know what putter I wanted ( actually secretly thought it was going to be a Scotty ) but finally couldnt walk away from the #7 White Hot XG Odyssey. Did & still feels right for me. Hope you find one!
  12. I second that call, lots more check than the standard NXT. Not that Im biased or anything. also concur with Callaway |hz|
  13. I was only trying to point out that the pro players complained that the course had been ruined / was punitively unfair etc, comments players have previously said about the US Open set ups in the past. I know the US Open is probably the hardest course set up of any track each year ( & one of the reasons why I cant wait to see Pebble this year!!) I think its the most difficult of the 4 Majors to win even past a wind induced rain lashed British open!! It just annoyed me a little that you seemingly need a US win to make waves now, but was very glad to see how much the crowd took to McIlroy.
  14. That is the best Scramble advice posted yet. Never be short with putt 1, be really aggressive & try to hole it. At least the second person can lag up close if it misses.
  15. I too think you should look out for the Odyssey White Ice #9, very similar in looks to the photo you posted, with proven Tour quality.
  16. If you want to hit good shots you got to keep the grooves clean if nothing else. I try & carry a soft brush & a damp cloth to wipe the heads after each shot & every couple of rounds clean them properly along with cleaning my shoes. Clean kit makes you feel good & play good.
  17. I have to say whomever the commentator @ Quail Hollow was who shouted "Welcome to the big time Rory McIlroy" when that fine winning putt dropped needs a slap, how very condesending. So you have to win in America to be a superstar now?? The kid IS a superstar, end of. I wonder why so few Americans fly to the flagship European Tour event at Wentworth...guess those "stars" couldn't deal with playing a course set up to make the US Open seem like a picnic (tho to be fair those that were there cried lots anyway about it being too hard). Even Westwood at World #3 is lightyears in points behind Lefty & Woods. Whats been great this year is the young guns actually performing like young guns instead of flattering to decieve. Golf is in a really good state at the minute worldwide & long may open fields continue to give us, the great golfing public, grandstand finishes at most events.
  18. anyone elses brain hurting lol!!
  19. I play 4 wedges, standard loft/lie with set I purchased, plus 52-08 & 60-08 Vokeys. The Vokeys are perfect from 80 yards in or around the green for delicate flops etc. Adding in the extra wedges has definately helped reduce my handicap recently, but the question you need to answer is how good is your short game....if its great I would certainly say add some wedges, they are the scoring clubs in the bag, but if you are better with long irons/hybrids try adding those instead.
  20. I like McCord, he can be quite amusing, I seem to remember him commenting from a sponsors car during the Tavistock Cup this year. Tho lets be honest (& please forget I am from Northern Ireland too!) but Feherty wins hands down everytime, the guy is hilarious!! Wicked quick sense of humor!
  21. The event takes place every year on one of nine historic links courses in Scotland or England (the event has been held once in Northern Ireland, but Royal Portrush is no longer on the rotation, tho may return). The common factor in the venues for The Open is that they have always been links courses. In more recent times the rotation has generally followed the pattern of being played in Scotland and England alternately. Although there are hundreds of suitable courses inland to hold the most famous Major, history & tradition will never allow this to happen.
  22. Mine changes sometimes but mostly is the logo of my favourite brand in golf....Titleist
  23. A brand spankin new RC10 Cart Bag in classic Tour Black & White....its so amazing I think I might be in love haha!
  24. That actually made me smile BTW the new NIKE method putter is awesome...
