  1. Durants been a bit of a dissapointment so far... I know its still early but Thunders aren't really doing much too exciting. now...CP3 and Rondo on the other hand...talk about MVP material right there.
  2. good post. anytime this distance debate comes about, everybody flocks to the safe saying "i'd rather have accuracy than distance". Sure, accuracys important but if you're neglective the importance of distance, you're lieing to yourself. on a 425 yard hole, a short hitter hits his driver 220 yards...which leaves him with 200 yards to go. He hits a 3 wood (which is also not the easiest club to hit), whos to say it doesn't end up in the rough? Long iron/wood approach shot adds for less accurate shots, just as a tee shot is.
  3. I use the 909F in both 3w and 5w and absolutely love it. Switched over last year from one that I had used for a couple years, which is the Callaway X-Tour Fairway wood. Both are great fairway woods imo.
  4. only time i've used the driver without a tee was when my ball was lieing 1-2 inches in rough above the ground. The thick grass elevated the ball up a bit, as if the ball was teed up. Hit the driver low and the ball was right back on the fairway!

did we watch the same video? because the clinic video i watched, AK was great. He explained a lot of his ideas on "feel". Sure he had a hard time explaining some thigns because he relies so much on his feel, but overall, I thought that clinic was actually great. Likewise, the eipsode of Playiong Lessons With the Pro's with AK was a great one.
  6. i know its been only 2 nights but damn, my fantasy team is looking ugly right now. so.many.to's.
  7. maybe in the playoffs but posting up 5 3pters in the season opener was exciting to see. :)
  8. been watching since season 1! been one of my favorite shows all 3 seasons. I'm not quite hooked on seaosn 3 yet...watching a long but season 2 was just awesome.
  9. What a great game. Sadly the Heat Trio didn't live up to the hype. Hope to see some better performance from them.
  10. why so low on bounce? you're gonna end up chopping earth into two with that. :) I'd suggest going with atleast a 8* bounce.
  11. more than likely, you're hitting the ball thin with the leading edge of the driver, causing the ball to swing forward instead of backspin. Could be a number of things but my guess is that you're trying too hard to swing up at the ball, causing your driver to hti the ball on the way up, hitting the ball with the leading edge. what is your driver stance like? Where is the ball located in relation to your left and right foot?
  12. if my grooves look dirty during a round, spit on club face + wipe with towel. Kinda gross. :) Once in awhile, if the clubs are looking gross with dirt and such, a little dish washing soap + nylon brush and dry.
  13. well for discussion sake, we're talking about SC's here, not other brands. SC's of all putters have the most fan-boy-esq following. You find it in any staple fan boy's golf bag. the Newport 2 specifically. again, i'm not saying everyone who uses the Newport 2 is a fan boy... but i'm saying there is a huge following of people who use the Newport 2, not because of its "feel" and "performance" but because they're so popular.
  14. read the whole thread, i already said i exagerated for point sake.
  15. thats because most people (not accusing you specifically) who use SC Newport2's don't actually favor the "feel" of it over any other putter...they use it because its "cool"
  16. my standard go-to sandwedge is a 56* with 10* or 12* bounce as for standard lob wedge - 60* with 8* bounce
  17. his swing in that video looks a bit like a fade..but who knows.
  18. exactly. im a firm believer in getting fitted for your shaft. the driver head imo doesn't really matter. These days, most manufacturers are fairly on par with their technology, quality, and performance. The difference in shaft choice however makes a huge different in accuracy and distance. instead of replacing your driver with the most recent $300 driver every time TM, Titleist, Callaway, etc releases a new driver, get a single driver and get fitted for the shaft and be done with it.
  19. and with all those improvements, what exactly will it help me to achieve? to me, the difference in performance does not outweigh the cost.
  20. i have a backup set of Titleist DCI 990's that hasn't seen the light of day in months. shoved in my storage space. Bought it just in case something happens...
  21. agreed. drivers a driver. 910 is really the 909 with an adjustable face.
  22. depends on how you define better. both are made by major manufacturers who produce great products. comparing the two is like comparing a 60s Camero with a 60s Mustang. All personal preference. (i prefer the Camero :)
  23. Yep, its all hype. Who cares if the wedge was spin milled, laser milled, hand milled by a 120 year old japanese artisan miller, milled by a swedish super model, etc. If it has grooves, it has grooves... Same goes for putters. Most manufacturers use the very same materials, whether carbon or stainless steel, etc... what exactly makes SC's milling process suddenly make it perform better? Doesn't. Thats just good marketing.
  24. Like I said, playing college can help train you for competitive mindstate and perhaps playing golf in college helps hone in on your skills...but how exactly does playing in college suddenly get you a PGA card? They are completely independent of each other. You may attract some sponsors when you play in college but that doens't happen too often. Again, the PGA tour doesn't actively go out and recruit college players to play in the PGA like they do in the NBA. In the NBA, if you aren't a recognize college player, its near impossible to even get a scout to give you a second of his day, because they focus mostly on college recruitment. Its extremely rare. To qualify for the PGA tour, its completely independent of playing in college. Regardless of if you went to college or not, you can qualify if you have the money and the talent. College doesn't make that any easier. of course one can become a better player playing inc ollege, surrounded by great players...than say Joe Schmo who plays with his father in law every weekend, but just happens to be amazingly talented at golf. But the fact remains, a +5 handi from Arizona University has just much a chance to get a PGA card as +5 handi Joe Schmo from Nantucket. the qualification process is completely independent of whether ot not the player went to college.
  25. yep. NBA and NFL particularly rely on college players for recruit but with golf, whether or not you play in college doesn't dictate anything. Sure, playing competitively in college can somewhat train you to be in the competitive mental mode and you also get the opportunity to play various courses across the nation, but again, your chances of getting on tour doesn't just go up because you played in college. Joe Schmo the janitor, age 60, can grab his lifes savings and goto PGA Q-School and somehow qualify in top 50 and hop on tour. Ciollege has absolutely nothing to do with it.
