  1. In my opinion, this is some good advice. Initiate the downswing by rotating the left hip back and bringing the right elbow into the body, allowing the hands & wrists to enter into the "slot" position. (Be careful not to over-exaggerate the hip move) Also, practice these techniques with a weighted club to ingrain muscle memory into the swing.
  2. Love the show too! Too bad Lawrence Taylor had to go rape that underage girl (didn't look and see if he was convicted)...I liked him on the show.
  3. Anyone else like the look and style of the bunkers at TPC San Antonio? I particularly liked the darker sand and curvy banks! Pretty cool looking!
  4. It would be nice to hear from Rebelgolfer about how things are going. Maybe he could share how he got rid of the shanks! I know I'd be shankin the golf ball after 4 buckets!
  5. [QUOTE=iacas;458118]To be sure we're all on the same page, both the face angle and the swing path have to be off to push or pull the ball. The face angle is square to the swing path, but it's not square to the target.QUOTE] Yes, sorry I wasn't so clear.
  6. From the looks of it, your swing looks much better (at least from this angle)! Looks like you've minimized the amount of "standing up" you do. Maybe get a DL shot so forumgoers can more accurately compare.
  7. We're taking a look at Tiger's swing with Butch and Hank this week in my Methods of Teaching class. My roommate is a week ahead and they already did. I guess it looks much better now...weird. I'll let you guys know, my roommate can be an idiot sometimes but who knows.
  8. Congratulations to Adam Scott! It's nice to see him in the winner's circle once again!
  9. Yeah, I see your point and I agree with it. Many "new" committees probably don't think about this; therefore, they probably don't mention it on the local rules sheet. So anyone using them during play would be subject to penalty.
  10. I imagine that course plays really tough on a windy day! LOL!
  11. Congratulations! I took a look at the course website, there weren't many pictures and a scorecard wasn't posted. It's only 9 holes huh? Is that all you guys play all the time?
  12. Tiger is in shambles right now, mentally and physically. Is it possible for him to overcome these hurdles and come back with a vengeance? Yes, but it's going to take some hardwork and dedication, qualities Tiger has exuded in the past.
  13. You're right, rangefinders are allowed by the USGA but they may not be legal during tournament play if the Committee votes not to allow them. Also, if nothing is mentioned about rangefinders on the Local Rules sheet, they are not allowed. Ok, maybe I got a little bit ahead of myself. I didn't mean that someone would lose the ability to locate a sprinkler head and pace off the distance, I just ment that they wouldn't be able to use their rangefinder. I mean, if you found out that you couldn't use your rangefinder during a tournament you would be a little upset. I guess I'm just a little more traditional.

  15. Yup, got the head, Taylormade RAC!
  16. You can still make great contact while pushing or pulling it! Pushes and pulls are caused by the swing path, not face angle, it would be square. You're probably pushing or pulling it because you're moving or swaying during the swing. Try to remain "locked" to the ground and keep your head in the same place throughout the swing. Also look in front of the ball like I mentioned before.
  17. I would grab my 58 degree wedge, open the face so it doesn't close down when going through the thick rough, keep left arm straight/dominant, and use a one-lever swing. That's just what I'd do, there are many different approaches to every shot.
  18. lol! I can see how that could be annoying. I have to admit, sometimes I say things like that and I have to catch myself. I think it's more annoying when someone gets really angry and is cussing and throwing clubs. A guy I played with last week broke one of his wedges over his leg. It was great because I asked him for the head!
  19. Well first of all, it is very important to calculate exact yardages and that is exactly what a rangefinder does. In my opinion, many people are beginning to depend on them. What if you enter into a tournament and the Committee does not allow them? I guess you would be SOL. I prefer walking the yardages off (much easier on courses marked well). The key is to making sure your strides are as close to a yard as possible. Get a yard stick out and check, remember the feeling. Something that really helps is a pair of binoculars or something similar. Using them will allow you to see the pin placement and any undulation in the green. Hope that helps!
  20. You don't necessarily have to take a divot. There are many famous golfers that have been "pickers", making solid contact without leaving a divot. So the question is, are you hitting the ball solid? If you are, no changes need to be made. If not, a good tip would be to look at the front of the golf ball or a little in front of it. Hope that helps!
  21. I was gonna mention that as well. It's not necessarilly how tall you are, it's the measurement from your wrists to the floor. If you find that you need longer clubs, you may want to consider extending the ones you've got. Extenders are relatively cheap and you won't even notice they're there. That way you don't have to buy completely new shafts. I would also recommend getting your lies adjusted, tall guys and gals will oftentimes need clubs that are more upright. Note that the extenders will change the playing characteristics of your clubs, such as stiffness, swingweight, and total weight.
  22. The swing looks pretty good man! I would maybe focus on keeping your head still (same position throughout swing), swinging more with your left arm, and maintaining your balance. Other than that, I enjoyed the music!
  23. lol! I'm no golf instructor or anything, but it looks as if you're taking the club back on the inside. The clubface is rotating to open and your left arm bends a little too much. It also looks like your arms collapse on the follow-through. Make sure your left arm is straight at impact and your right arm extends through and towards the target.
  24. Congratulations man! I'm working on the exact same thing with terrific results on the range today. Keep up the good work!
  25. That sums it up perfectly for me!
