Personally, i have never bought anything because "Tiger" was on it. With that said, if you want it, buy it, if not, then don't buy it. I would never buy a piece of memorabilia in hopes of making money... SOMETHING IS ONLY WORTH WHAT THE NEXT GUY IS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT

Taylormade Burner SuperFast Vs. R9
JaredSS replied to JaredSS's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
From the reviews I've read it sounds like the club is almost designed for a slower swing.... -
I currently have a R9(not the 460) that I play with and like it pretty well. I found a Burner Super Fast on Ebay yesterday that was just too cheap to pass up(the guy was quitting golf and didn't really know how to market clubs). So anyways, I bought it and I'm looking forward to hitting it, if I don't like it I will have no trouble getting my money back. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with the two of them and which one they preferred. Thanks

Building muscle and losing weight for golf!

Agreed, I didn't make the statement about stunting your growth, I was trying to reply to someone elses quote but I goofed it up -
Building muscle and losing weight for golf!

No need to be starving yourself or spending time at the gym (weight lifting stunts your growth)[/QUOTE] Weightlifting at age 12 might stunt your growth, but at 17 he's probably reached his adult height and weightlifting will not stunt his growth. Weightlifting is a great thing to do if its done correctly and safely. Proper nutrition is key to feeling good and gaining muscle. It doesn't matter how much weightlifting you do if you don't have the protein and amino acids to recover properly. Also, don't work a body part out more than once a week. Muscles don't grow in the gym! You have to give your body time to recover. Another simple thing...3500 cals= 1 pound of fat....so if you eat 3500 calories that aren't burned, guess what. If you start lifting your appetite will likely increase, but that doesn't mean you have to eat everything in sight! -
I see you live in Ireland, wasn't there a pub or two on the front nine that you could have stopped at to have a drink and pass some time...?

At 17 you should be able to eat about anything and not get fat, but with that said now's the time to start a healthy lifestyle. It's impossible to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. You're either "bulking" or "cutting." With that said, every pound of muscle you can gain boosts your metabolism. I believe one pound of muscle burns 50/cals a day. I'm 5'11, 225lbs and have approx 12% bodyfat. I can bench press 325 lbs but can only drive the ball on average about 250 and have seen pencilneck geeks that can crank it 300. If you're trying to get in shape for golf, I would try to find a trainer or some sort of program designed for that. And if you're wanting to lose some fat, stay away from soft drinks, white breads/potatoes/rice, sugars, and high calorie foods that are of no use. Good luck. -
I'm not trying to be negative or someone who seems to know more than you, but shouldn't you be able to do things with a wedge other than chip? I can answer that question myself...yes. This thing definitely looks like a chipper, which would be great for a bump and run, but what about a pitch or a flop shot? Just wondering, not trying to be a douchebag about things because if it works for you that's great. Chipping/pitching to me is one of the easiest things to work on if you have any size yard at all so maybe you can get good with this thing or work with your other wedges to quit the shanking. Good luck man!

Welcome, I landed in Ireland once, would love to go back and play some golf and tour the country, very beautiful landscape over there!

Welcome aboard, I"m new here as well but I'm also an AF vet. I was a B-1 engine mechanic and was unfortunately stationed in South Dakota my whole 4 years, besides a TDY to Diego Garcia. That's quite a handicap for someone who's been playing for just over a year. I started playing last year and I thought I was doing well. So where were you stationed?

I was just wondering if anyone on here lives in or around the gulf and was having to deal with the oil spill. It's ashame this is happening and I'm sorry if you live there. It amazes me that we can send a man to the moon in 1969 but can't send one 5,000 ft below the ocean in 2010. We're supposed to vacation to Panama City Beach in October but I'm sure that will be cancelled, but my woes are the least of the problems...

There's a particulary tough par 4 on my course. It is a narrow fairway, small green and about 400 yards uphill. I hit my driver only about 215 so I was 185 or so from the center of the green. The flag was in the back, I took my 5 wood because I knew it would play closer to 205 with the uphill approach. I put it about 3' below the hole and left myself an easy birdie putt, this was the first time I've ever birdied this hole, most of the time I just hope for a bogey.
-
I really have confidence and enjoy hitting my Nike SQ Dymo 2 5 wood. Its the square head which I usually don't like and a regular flex, which I usually don't like, but this club is straight down the pipe everytime and I can almost always hit a good shot with it no matter the lie. Not only my favorite fairway wood, but my favorite club in my bag

Shot a season best 3 over 75 today. I had 3 birds, 10 pars, 4 bogeys and 1 double bogey

What's the Smartest Hole You Ever Played?
JaredSS replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Golf Talk
Theres a potentially disastrous par 5 at my home course. The tee box is on a hill, and the fairway doglegs right about a hundred yards out and there are trees between the dogleg(so you can't hit it straight over) and trees on the left of the fairway as well. I think they built the course and when they got finished they said, "oh crap, we only have 17 holes" and they put this hole in. The fairway isn't over 30 yards wide so I usually try to hit a hard slice around the trees to get it in the fairway instead of trying to go over the trees. From there I'll be about 250 yards from the hole(on the side of a steep hill) and instead of crushing the 3 wood I'll take a nice, smoothe, slow swing with my 5 wood and hit it about 190 or so yards and keep it in the NARROW fairway. Then I'll take a short iron from there. I have birdied this hole, but I am always well pleased with a par. I know this was a lengthy response, but this is the one hole I HAVE to use more brain than brawn -
Me too, I work a 12 hour swing shift and have several days off during the week, so other than the guys I work with everybody else is at work(because they work normal schedules). So I have to count on the old retired guys if I want anybody to play with...oh well, they usually have a good sense of humor and don't take things too seriously
-
Sometimes when I make a long putt my friends tell me they need to wipe the crap off my ball, I guess in this case it would have been literal...
-
Shot a 5 over 77. Hit 9/13 Fairways and 9/18 GIR. 2 birds, 10 pars, 5 bogeys and one double bogey.

I'm only 5'11, but getting custom fitted for irons was the best thing as far as buying equipment I've ever done...so the next time you go to buy irons, get custom fit, it doesn't cost anymore to get custom fit irons than standard
