Funny, being the biggest Hogan Fan ever, I always think Ernie Els when I'm playing. I try to emulate his swing tempo.

Are you serious? The train goes right through the middle of your course! I've never seen anything like that! Does the train still run??

Moutainhip, love those flyovers! I like # 15 elavated tee box, nice!

By far the Masters is my favorite followed by the British then the US Open. Is there a fourth? I think the Memorial should be the fourth.

I made the playoffs again, won my first round match then lost my second playoff game by 3 points. This is my 8th year and I have yet to make the superbowl. Last year I lost by 1 point of making the bowl. My 11 yr old son made the superbowl in his second year and lost thanks to LT and Bulger sitting out the second half. There is always next year!

Original Post http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showpos...8&postcount;=21 I failed big time! Failed to play 25 rounds - played a lot of nine hole rounds and joined a golf league at church. Had fun but missed this goal. No handicap - Did not get this done again. Payed for a year at scorecard.com and didn't post one round. Tempo - Worked on this during the rounds I played except for the league, it was a scramble format and I swung for the green! Memorial - Had a great time at the tournament. Attended five days. followed Adam Scott for his 62 on Friday. Got a lot of autographs with my son. Golf trip - this didn't happen but I met a bunch of new golfers in the league and a golf trip may be in the works for next year. Golf books - yeah, I read a few, but the pile is still high. There's always winter! Rep Point - I don't know why I put this on there, but I got one. Thanks I did a poor job on my goals this year but I did play in a cool league and met a lot of nice guys. I had to adjust my priorities for my son's sports. I coached his baseball team and helped with the all-star team, helped coach his football team and kept stats for his team and helped the high school team with stats. One of these years I'm going to dedicate myself to golf, maybe next year!

Two years in St Andrews is my all time favorite! I loved it so much I read it every year!I've read almost every book mentioned here. Nice to know there are golf book freaks out there like me.

For me it was an eagle during a scramble I played in with over a hundred golfers. Big par 5 dogleg right, I hit a huge drive, crushed a 4 iron 10 feet below the hole and sank the eagle putt.

Hey, Congrats! I'll get there some day. When the little league season ends I'll be back on full time!

The Daly Train comes off track again. Check out this story on ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=2898127 The one thing he does best is get cut! I don't think any of us Daly fans wanted to see John play the Open with the rough this course will have. He could have gone Postal!

I just tried the link for golfwits and it didn't come up. They might be out of business. here is the link if you want to try www.golfwits.com it is golf wits with one t not two. goflwitts with two t's is a different site than the one I bought the books from.

Try golfwits.com they sale blank yardage books. I just made one for Murifield Village so I can take it along this week while watching the Memorial. (I have two badges for the week.) You buy the books you want (they have thousands of courses to choose from) and I print them on card stock and make like a flip chart. They print out pocket size - four holes to a sheet of paper. When I'm done adding my note I laminate them. The one I printed for Murifield I printed on photo paper because I don't plan on writing on it. I really like their books but it takes me forever to get all my notes on them.

This is my second year with Scorecard.com and I love it. Unfortunately I haven't played 10 rounds of 18 holes yet to get my handicap. Great site though!

See my post on page 7, I think you missed some of Jacks competition... Lets take a moment to compare Jacks competitors to Tigers... Jack played against .... (Player and number of Majors) Gary Player 9, Tom Watson 8, Arnold Palmer 7, Lee Trevino 6, Seve Ballesteros 5, Raymond Floyd 4, Billy Casper 3, Johnny Miller 2, Ben Crenshaw 2, Tom Kite 1. all the while Jack was winning 18. (player and number of tour wins) Palmer 62, Casper 51, Watson 39, Littler 29, Trevino 29, Miller 25, Player 24, Floyd 22, Irwin 20, Norman 20, Sanders 20, Crenshaw 19, Kite 19. Jack had 73 wins Tiger played against.... (player and number of majors) Renie Els 3, Phil Mickelson 3, Vijay Singh 3, John Daly 2, Retief Goosen 2, Jose Maria 2, Mark Omera 2. ( player and number of tour wins) Vijay Singh 30, Phil Mickelson 29, Davis Love 19, Mark Omera 16, Fred Couples 15, Ernie Els 15, Corey Pavin 15, David Duval 13. Granted, Tigers competition is still playing, but I don't see any of todays players reaching 62 wins like Arnold did or even 51 like casper. They probably won't match Watsons 39 with the exception of Vijay.

I miss the days when BIG John would walk off the course during the round. At least he didn't post an 87! Put down the smokes and the guitar and play some golf!

http://www.waldenponds.com/view.asp?id=18&page;=546 I signed my 10yr old son up for this deal but it is open for anyone. The restricted times are, early mornings, you go off the backside for nine holes or anytime after 6pm. You pay only for the cart or you can walk for free. I'm thinking of joining too so my son and I can golf 9 holes together for 16 bucks. regular price for 18 and cart on weekends is $65. Does your club offer anything like this? This seems really cheap to me.

It's just my opinion, but I think Faldo is awful. Kelly is okay but just okay. What ever happened to Peter Kessler. He could be the Jim Nantz of the Golf Channel. I like all the others but they need someone else up front.
-
I have to go with Golf Magazine too. Better articles on tour players and I love George Peper. I like GD but there is too much instruction. I want to read about cool places to golf and about life on tour.

Great news! Big John moved from 151 place to 144 in the Fedex Cup standings! JD's stats.... Drive Dist...307.3 (2nd) Drive Acc...47.71% (188th) GIR...........61.36% (139th) Putt Avg.....1.78 (65th) Score Avg...71.02 (91st) Sand Save..43.75% (127th) Fed Ex Pts...502 (144th) Pts behind...11,859 (Yikes!) Putts/Rd......29.32 (100th) Oh well, he sure can hit it a long way. That will get you at least two rounds of golf per weekend!
-
The trouble I'm having is picking that fella who gets his picture taken holding that shiny trophy on Sunday afternoon! There is a huge difference in points between first place and second place in the Fedex pts.
-
I always watch every minute of coverage and always tape the action. I have every major on tape since 1985. I usually watch and follow along looking at the holes in the Masters Journal. If I could only watch one sporting event this would be the one for sure! Enjoy the tournament!
-
I'm only a week late but I get it now Erik! I took a major butt whoopin last week and I've got Tiger and Phil on my Masters team.
-
He may be an icon but if Natlie Gulbis took her Winn grips out on the course and tee'd it up with ole' John, he'd be in for a nice firm butt whoopin!
-
Love the Birdie books! I would love to have one of every course I play! Awesome! I bought a pack of very cheap yardage books that have evrything but the yardages. You had to fill that out yourself. too time consuming. do a search on golfwits if you want to check them out. Not nearly as nice as the Birdie Book though.

How important is it to you to have matching clubs, bags, etc.?
Hogan Fan replied to Jeepthrills's topic in Golf Talk
Good point, I never thought of those head covers being a yellow flag. They do yell "Steal Me!" I'm going to replace mine this weekend. That is always a concern for me. I guess I'm the oddball here. I only play Hogan clubs and have always carried a Hogan staff bag. Not that I'm trying to look like a staff player, I've just always wanted people to remember the great Ben Hogan. I don't want his memory to fade. The only hats I own are Hogan. Every winter I buy about 10 new ones while they are on sale. I don't think I'll ever own any other brand of clubs, not even if you gave them to me! Fan
