I can get a little spin when I need it but how do you really get serious backspin? Is it more to do with the clubs or your swing? I was watching the AT&T; yesterday and Kenny G hit a shot to the green that had ridiculous freaking backspin. It spun back almost as far as he hit the damn shot.

Welcome Fredd99x, guess your not playing today. Your course website listed your temp at -16*. The ball might break in half if you were able to get your frozen arms around to swing the club. When will the weather break so you can get outside, July? lol

She has more wrist problems than a teenage boy with a Playboy magazine. Maybe she is a boy???

Big John fired another even round of par today at Spyglass Hill which included 12 pars, 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. A much nicer round than the up and down first round. He managed not to have a double bogey today and should be around for the weekend. Cheers to the Lion! The Diet Coke toast must have worked!

I just discovered a statistic that is really scary. Jack finished in 2nd place a total of 19 times in major championships.

John Daly opened with a round of 72 at the AT&T.; He played Pebble Beach today and in typical fashion started with bogey, eagle, par, birdie on the first four holes. He managed to hit 8 of 13 fairways and his longest drive of the day measured 331 yards. His avg drive distance was 304.5 and he hit 10 GIR. Not a bad start but he trails by 7 shots after one round. Let's toast a diet coke for luck

He's just bored with losing to Tiger.

Whatever happened to the Turlock Kid. He must be hiding out somewhere in the bottom of the standings.

I finally figured out my problems with the site. It dosen't work well with aol browser.

I'm a golf purist and I happen to like it at this event. It's all in good fun. I liked seeing the players throwing stuff into the crowds. I just wish it were a small island green about 185 yards with heavy winds. Then we could really have some fun!

I wish everyone would sound in with some trash talk. It would be nice to know who everyone's team is. Mine is pretty easy. Look for me at the top next week. I'm only 2,566 points behind. Just need to pick a winner!

okay, here is how the top ten looks after the FBR... 1. Barzeski Bombers (anyone with a podcast should lead the way) lol 2. Fairways + Greens (derfley) 3. Hogan Fan 4. Nevada Blackjacks (underparnv) 5. No Messin w/ my Sasquatch (jrbechthold) 6. Birdieboys (putterhead) 7. Waddell Whiffers 8. Trash Talker 9. Tar Dogs (QQQuillume) 10. Ditto (applebyfan)

Oh....Gosh....I forgot about the charity part of it, I was just thinking about the golf action and speaking as a golf purist no doubt. Okay, we can let them attend the event and watch from the gallery and have a reporter run over to them and ask them how much they donated so everyone will know how generous they are.

man, I hope you enjoy the tournament. It must have taken you 2 hours to type all that. lol.

I'll be glad when we finally have a president that is black, then I think we won't have to hear someone described as black when they write or talk about something a black person has done. I never unserstood how anyone could think that a person was different because of the color of their skin. It is by far the dumbest concept the human mind has ever created. It is the single most stupid form of idiocy ever. I'm happy for coach Dungy because he is a great man. Lovie Smith will win a superbowl someday I'm sure. If he could get a team to the bowl with grossman at QB then he most be good.

I thought that since Terrell Owens left the Eagles weren't angry anymore. lol

Please tell me more about final rounds, sounds good. I finally finished "Two Years in St. Andrews" by George Peper - Best damn book I've ever read. I will read this another twenty times over the years. If you have a collection of golf books, this is a must have!

I think if Tiger won the slam and went on to win 25 majors and didn't attend the birth of his child, he'd be the biggest LOSER of all time. (This statement is in contrary to the vote I cast in the thread "Baby or Masters" which was just for fun) lol
-
Man, I really liked your post, all but the clean their clocks part. I think Hogan, Nicklaus and Palmer would give Tiger all he wanted. Maybe Tiger would fold under the pressure from the gaze of the "Hawk". (thats Ben Hogan to all you rookies) I just hope when we all get to that great golf course in the sky God says, I'm sick of the debate, we're heading out to the Pearly Links Club for the championship of all times!

I love Tiger and find him to be a very humble champion. I don't think he is arrogant just passionate and confident.

I thought of posting this same type of thread last night, good topic. I think there are too many of these type events. We just suffered throught the Bob Hope and now we have to sit through the Pebble Beach pro am. What I would like to see is them invite all the goof balls to the Hope, Hope was a comedian right, so a fitting tribute to a great man. Just cut the thing down to 4 rounds! Or only have the clowns for the first two rounds. Then, I would love to see a serious celebrity tournament played during the Pebble Beach Tournament. Only invite serious competitors and play a scratch event for 4 days and see who is really the best. Cut out all the goofing off crap and compete like the pros. Maybe even have a cut and a nice big trophy. I think that would be exciting. How many goofy hats can Bill Murray have? It's the same bs every year. I don't take these tournaments serious when they have the side shows going on. One a year is enough!

I watched the "Golf My Way" video years ago and it helped me big time! Wish I had a copy of it. Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons" or "Power Golf" are good ones also. I have an origal 1953 paperback (pocket book) edition of Hogan's "Power Golf'. It's the prize of my golf library. I also have the 1969 edition.

Sorry guys for freaking you out. I'll reply privately about this issue so I don't ruin the thread. lol All is fine after the 4th day!
-
That's good news, I hope they can work it out for the kids sake.

I love the looks of those glasses but I can't wear sunglasses while golfing. I thought Tiger looked goofy in them since he usually dosen't wear them. I always thought they made me play bad. Must be the depth perception or something like that. I don't think they helped Tigers putting, but it beats sand in your eyes.
