Only speaking for myself, but I think they are worth it. My phone never lasted and I splurged and got one. Both me and my playing partners all benefit from it. We are all relatively equal players and on average we saved 4-5 strokes per round knowing distance. i think if your distances are pretty consistent then they are a nice benefit. I doubt they would help much if your shots were inconsistent...

I wanna hit the Anser's and see how they feel. They look REAL nice. Might have to consider an upgrade...

Thanks for the suggestions. There is a shop within 20 miles or so that has some demo clubs available so I was planning to try the 2 new Ping Drivers and will also give the Diablo a try. I play Diablo Forged Irons and love them. I didn't really dislike the FT-9 it's just I like the G5 a little better in terms of sound and feel. If there are anyother suggestions on clubs I should hit, keep them coming...

Currently playing a Ping G5 with Aldilla X-Stiff shaft and have also played a Callaway FT-9 with a Diamana X-Stiff shaft. Hit the G5 better than the FT-9, might be because I've hit it for a longer period of time but just can't get used to the sound or feel of the Ft-9. I think I also get a little more length out of the G5 although it's not much of a difference. Anyways, looking at new drivers and seeking some suggestions. I'm a fairly long hitter although I won't claim a 300 average, I am safely 250-260 on most drives. My natural swing is a slight fade but can draw it on occasion. According to the stats from my Sky Caddie I average about 80% or so on fairways hit. Want something that can be worked but I'm not usually trying to turn driver so much unless I have to because of the hole. Thoughts??

Always played as part of groups and they don't bother me. But when the rounds are slow and we are waiting for groups in front of us and there is also a group behind us I find I rush things, which is stupid because we're always waiting for the next shot. I've really tried to change that by having a routine to stay in consistent timing and after much work it's finally starting to not really matter what speed we are playing at...

Compared to the guy's I play with, I'm generally a good chipper and I use wrist hinge in most shots. More to spin it and less to run it.

Hooking the S#$! out of my hybrids

Are there any videos of flipping? I here this all the time but have no idea what it actually looks like... I've been told I occasionally flip and still don't know what it is... -
Totally agree with this. Used to never work on the short game than started to take time on it when frustrated with my swing and it was amazing the differnece it made in my scores and confidence from just outside the green and in...

Dealing with pretty much the exact same thing. I have a pretty compact swing that is in to out and occasionally turns from a draw to a nasty hook with everything except driver. Driver will occasionally slice on me and so will me 3 wood. My swing is also pretty similar sounding to yours in that it is pretty compact. Been taking lessons for about a month now and after initial feeling pretty frustrated with slow progress I'm starting to get some consistency and confidence going. My main issue was that I would roll my wrists early at impact and close the clubface. It tended to get worse as I got a little fatigued. I also had a tendency to close the face slightly at address and exxaggerate the problem. So between working on establishing a a good routine a setup and learning how to hit a fade I've started to get rid of the tendency to close the club through impact which has made a hue difference for me. I was always told that "hey at least a hook is easy to cure", to me it was hell and is still something I have to continue to work on but I'm finally feeling seeing some light. Good luck.

Looking for new irons, what should I demo?

Just got a set of Callaway Diablo Forged and absolutely love them. -
I'm going through a bit of the same thing myself. Had a hard time adjusting first and now having to re-learn my distances. I think you'll adjust to that fairly quickly. I'm sarting to get the hang of it but its been a few very frustrating weeks. My guess is a will have a pretty goof comfort with my yardages and ball flight within another week or 2. maybe less if I can get in a few weeknight rounds... So 30 days total for me but haven't been on the course a ton over the last month and don't trust the range ball distances for yardage since the remind me of hitting rocks half the time....

Been golfing regularly again for about 3 months now. Played a lot about 4 years ago, but work and frustration with not making progress caused me to take a break.... Well I'm getting frustrated again and looking for advice. I've been a natural pull/slight hook shot guy for a while now, caused by an over the top swing that I can't seem to get rid of... Since I have been back playing again I was making very steady progress and starting to really feel like I might have gotten past the big issue that has plagued me for as long as I've played... My hook, was turning into more of a pull with little turn beyond the initial line straight to the left and it had been getting less frequent, usually showing up toward the end of the rounds... My scores which had been mid 90's were dropping and I got several rounds in the high 80's with a pretty mediocre short game (I have spent most of my time messing with my swing). Well took a lesson 2 weeks ago and it has been hell since... My teacher, a very good, competent instructor, teaching a very traditional swing, diagnosed a couple of things about my swing. 1. It was over the top, especially on the long irons. 2. my right hand was far too loose causing my to over-cock at the top and making the swing plane steep. He gave me some things to work on and set me on my way... Since that day i cannot find my swing to save my life... I am now push, slicing, which I've never done and lost a lot of power when I do get a nice shot. I have debated going back and getting more instruction but I'm debating whether I should. My body type is very different from the teacher I use and I don't think I can ever really develop into his swing form. He is a skinny, lanky guy and I am a fairly big, muscular guy (I've played sports most of my life) My drives, which have always been the best part of my game are now wild. I can hit the occasional monster shot, but can hit a hook OR Slice now and can't figure out why.... I assume I am getting the slice, because I am trying to come from the inside and leaving the club open but when I try to compensate here comes a snap hook, far worse than the pull I had... Any advice? Should I step back a bit and either work on the short game or take a break? Rounds are a bit frustrating but I like to hang with my buddies which also makes it worse since we are all ex-athletes and very competitive... HELP!!

Anyone play mixed set of AP1 & AP2 ?
zdoor replied to Jon K's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just got a set of AP2's with Rifle 6.0 shafts a few weeks back and love them. Moved to them from a set of Ping G2's that I had had for quite a while. Kept the G2 3 and 4 in the bag as a security blanket until I got more used to the AP2's but am really liking the Titleist clubs and am getting comfortable very quickly with the long irons... -
Made a 30' putt on a wicked slope at Hunter Ranch last week... Was a near miracle
