Yea problem is that 250 mark, isn't even close to 250. But if your good with that club use it. If you can hit it that far with that club hitting a driver is really no different. The stick is just simply longer... Some people I know have a completely different swing when they grab the big stick.... and that son is probably the root of your problems with the dirver. Additionally if your married and your wife is happy.... let her keep thinking that really is 12 inches. :)

Need help finding perfect golf bag!!!
BigMikey replied to rynjwssl's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Below are images of mine. Excellent bag, and I would say the club managment is the best of all. The bag prevents the irons from hitting the tops of the other ones and while walking the clubs swing and touch each other much less than with my old Nike ESII bag. -
For me it is casting casued by many things including overswinging. I've got days hot / cold where my chipping and putting is either ++++ or ---- and rarely ++--. But when I have enough time to warm up with 50 yard punch shots and hit a half bucket with a 9 to 3 swing drill my ballstriking alone puts me in scoring positions. I save more shots from hitting the ball correctly (I know how obvious that sounds) than I do from hours of putting and chipping practice. Case in point I'm playing local 9 hole course twice this weekend and hole #7 is a par 4 - 380 and blew it twice and below is how: Round 1: 1 - Driver 280 - FIR - Perfect Lie: (Best shot of day) 2 - 50* wedge from 100 yards: FAT.~~.~... 60 yards 3 - 56* pitch from 40: Missed the green 10 yards to right 35' from hole. 4 - Chip: 10' 5 / 6: Putt... Putt = DB Round 2: 1 - Driver: 230 Slice but in next door fairway. Good lie. 2 - 150 Yds Uphill to elevated green: 6 Iron : FAT.~~.~... 40 yards 3 - PW - 110 Yards 18' from Hole 4 - Putt 3' left 5 - Putt Holed = Bogey I hit fat when I cast, had I warmed up correctly I could have a birdie and a par. This is just me but how many times has this happened to you???

I got the stealth version of the OGIO Groum Hybrid today from PGA-Super Store. It's awesome. I upgraded from a Nike Extreme Sport 2 because the leg straps used up space in the pocket for the wedges and putters and the rubber foot mounts fell off after a few rounds. I did like the hard plastic rings for securing a towel and brush cleaner of the nike, but the ball holder, pocket layout and was far supreme in the OGIO bag. -

Make sure you covers on your woods are long enough to prevent the irons from dinging the graphite shafts. This applys to both ways of loading the bag. -
I recently updated my clubs to Ping S57's and thought about covers. But a few months ago I saw something much cooler. This guy that jumped into a group I was playing with on the back nine had a bag that had a plastic attachment of sorts. Rather than covers his clubs sat or snapped into place in these plastic dividers. That way the clubs didn't bang around and he got around all the gayness of having covers. Anyone know who makes that device? I'm stuck between not wanting to ding up my new S57's and not wanting to appear gay

Every time I have the feeling of quitting I manage to pull off a tour level golf shot that simply erases all those fatso's, skullers and water hazard shots. That's what always keeps me going. I remember a score I had last fall of 103 (yep that bad), but I birdied 18 and shot a 86 the next day.

I'm positive it's for pace of play as well. The last thing you want is some 30 handicap player putting a 12 pack of balls in the water while everyone else waits. I also don't think the rules of golf state that the ball must be played such that a player has to shoot over the water again. The 1 stroke penalty covers that.

So that must be what they call a dirty sanchez ;)
-
I would have to say it would at any handicap level. Most high HDCP'ers have very low scrambling percentage and a lot of 3 putts. Really it all depends on what the persons statistics are. If they are 0/14 in fairways then they can't ignore that statistic but if they can get on or close to the fairway I think you have a great solution.

Taylormade Penta looks cheap
BigMikey replied to Cornbread's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I've recently tried over the course of about 5 rounds each the Penta, ProV1 and ProV1x (after 2 rounds I knew I liked the V1 better). All three are great to putt with and they all spin back nicely on the greens from 100 yrds and in. But off the tee I found the ProV1 to be a better ball for me. I fight an occastional slice and the ProV1 outperformed both the ProV1x and Penta for me. A guy at Edwin Watts upsold me on the performance of the Penta. I'm sure it's a great ball it just made it harder for me to find the fairway everytime. I played Achasta this weekend in Dahlonega, GA and saved 10 strokes playing a ProV1 over the Penta. The verdict was 10/14 fairways with ProV1 and 7/14 with the Penta. Could be insignificant but having a second shot off the short grass makes par that much easier. -
I golfed Achasta (Jack Nicklaus Signature Course) in Dahlonega, GA this weekend twice. On the 18th during the second round I topped a my drive with my 3W and left me a 240 yd second shot to the green. Determined not to let the shot destroy my score on my last hole, I pulled off the shot with the same 3W from a crappy lie. The shot landed on the front of the green and landed about 10' from the hole with a slight fade. Simply amazing. I missed the birdie putt but tapped in for par for a great round save.

Your right, no division holds up to NFC East, and by far this division needs to win some SuperBowls. I hope for us that one of us make it to the top.

I've found it very accurate. It takes no more than 3 - 4 seconds from bringing the applicaiton up to really dialing in the GPS position. I'll agree the first reading you see may be off by around 20 yards but this is just how the phone zero's in on the GPS position. I have only used the 3G version (not 3GS).

If you could only do one drill...
BigMikey replied to trumps4's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
The 9 to 3 drill. This really solidifies the supination of the wrist combined with hips driving the golf swing through impact. Since impact is the most critical part of the swing this is where I have seen the most results. Today I was doing the drill hitting little fades and draws. -
I've tried quite a few apps. I'm a big fan of GolfShot GPS and it's my primary golf GPS tool. Prior to that I used an app called My Caddie Pro - www.imakepars.com which is still free. The GPS on that APP has cooler features that allow you to really plan your shots from tee to green. Here is how I breakdown the two apps I've used the most: 1) Golfshot GPS - Scorecard / Statistics simply rock and are the best I've seen. You can even log into a website and see all your rounds. Friends too. (29.99) 2) My Caddie Pro - Great tool, and the GPS / Map allow you to touch your finger and get immediate distances better than any other app. Plus with this app you can use Google Maps to customize your favorite course for how you play. If this app had the statistical features of Golfshot it would be the only app I'd ever use. (FREE)

Working On: 1) Currently building a complete swing based on a mix of Hogan's: 5 Lessons and Jack's: Golf My Way 2) Dedicating time to fade / draw the ball with the irons. How: Through lessons 1/month, driving range practice, and playing a local muni 9 testing out new things. (This way I don't go broke) Goals: 1) The ultimate goal is exactly what Hogan was seeking: A swing so ingrained it just happens automatically with a little thought as possible even under tremedous pressure. 2) The ability to confidently fade / draw the ball 3) Using the above skills to disect qualty 18 hole courses with ease

I could not agree more!!!! I think Faldo is probably the best and most relative. Gary McCord is simply a smack tard when it comes to commentating. When he laughs at his own jokes before anyone else does that just says it all.

I would not make a comparison to Tiger on the kid, but for 16 years old he's not only an incredible golfer but incredibly mature as well. How awesome to have your entire HS cheering you on and to play with Pavin on Sunday.

Trouble deciding on Wedge Loft
BigMikey replied to erock9174's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
IMHO: Replace the PW first with anotehr 46 / 47 that you like. Thats your 90 -110 club and the better that club is the less often you'll need your other wedges. Then I would suggest a good 60 Deg LW and think about trading out your 5W -
Recently I had two of the greatest putts of my life from basically the same position to the same hole location. I play a local 9 muni for practice and the first hole is a short par 4 with an elevated green. Two days in a row with the hole cut in the same location. My second shot hit the green and rolled to back of the green about 2' to the fringe leaving me with a 30' with left to right break. The reason I mention the two shots the were a day apart and basically my second shot ended up within 5-6" of each other from totally different lies on the fairway. But the real kicker is back to back birdies around 30' only a day apart on the same hole with the same hole cut location. I just wish my playing partner on the first day was the same one on the second. My buddy on the second day asked me at the end of our round while I was still acting like a kid because of a birdie on the first hole. When I told him it was a deja vu shot from the previous day he called BS... but nothing feels better than making an impossible shot 2 days in a row on the same hole.

Jack - It's just got to be. 1) Jack is actually Tiger's idol / mentor 2) Jack has way more class than Tiger 3) Jack's instinct took him farther with the game where Tiger's was pure athleticism and we can see that now he'll fade out quickly. I'm even going to state here and now that he won't break Jack's record at the masters.... ever!!!

I'm in sales management. I've been golfing for almost a year now.
