All else equal, less lost = more forgiving on short game?
Weezy replied to acegolfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yeah the lofts are used to hit the same type of shots different distances. Like a low 60 degree won't run out as much nor come out as "hot" as a 56 or 52 degree. But one is not "asier" i don't think. Maybe if you find one easier then just use that one club to hit all your greenside shots until you develpe a solid short game technique. Alot of great players chip and pitch with the same club all the time. -
Not that i agree people should use this (I don't) but what about caddies that read putts for pros? Is that taking away from the skill. They say phil mickelson relies heavily on bones mackay to read for him.

Well it would if you lined it up more to the right and took another pic

Why do they care about your hat. This is why traditions that don't make any sense need to just die out.

Spine crashing forward during backswing
Weezy replied to Platypus's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yours above isn't anything significant. There is a difference between that and what barkley does. If you drop it an inch or so its very common among good and even great players but the 6 inches to a foot barkleyesque stuff won't work. -
If the regroover restores the grooves to usga approved size rather than making them larger then what is the problem? And before anyone says that its impossible for the grooves to get smaller well smash an old wedge with a hammer a few times, you can basically collapse the groove onto itself making it pretty much nonexistent.

LMAO Now that was a perfect response. Surely the 60 year old long distance runner knows he is the exception to a very old and very slow rule right? I must say i played with an 87 year old guy, who hit his driver on a 90 yard par 3. Yet if he felt he was slowing us down by any type of irritating margin ,he wasn't generally, then he picked up. I'd play with that guy again no problem.

As a very scrawny guy myself don't bother with most golf polos, they are huge and for some odd reason most are made of material that gets completely saturated with sweat which seems counterproductive to me. So knowin that i just get the cotton t shirt type from hollister, They have em cheap online all the time and the small fits me great. I have plaid in the very high humidity and they dry much quicker than my playing partners rayon mess "golf" polos and are very cool feeling. I like the look too. The small fits me pretty snug and the arms are generally elastic so they don't bunch up.

Yeah bubba watson looks real smooth lol. I think you got that backwards actually, you can wail on the big headed driver much easier than the tiny by comparison persimmon ones.

Judging from the tons of em left in the pro shops i have been to he may very well be the only one who has bought one so take what you can get.

When should you stop trying to get better?
Weezy replied to 2bGood's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Not really. There wull be a point where your swing will max out its potential. Then you work on making that swing consistent. Same with the short game and putting stroke. That quest for consistency will never end. -
That's the dumbest thing I have read in a long time. Why bother playing if the guy who wins is the one who hits the most mediocre "safe" shots. Then it has nothing to do with skill but who gets the best bounces. There was no way anyone on planet earth was going to score well on sunday and it was so boring it was pathetic. One of the least watched majors since the tiger era. The moto for a major should be to make it as tough as possible for bad shots while rewarding good ones. They accomplished the first part but made it as hard as possible for good shots too. That is unacceptable.

Clubface not matching lead arm angle
Weezy replied to MikeLowry5's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
It's not imperative, in fact alot of great ball strikers play/played with the face a little shut or open. -
Had cink not made that huge putt, that he couldn't make again if he had a bucket of chances, and tied watson and instead watson had just blown it then noone would care that he won. But he made that putt and put the pressure on those 60 some odd year nerves and caused him to falter on the last hole amd then it was just cink and watson mono e mono. That is the situation and i knew immediately people would hate cink for it and to be honest i think had cink thought that he would have a chance at another major he would have maybe tried to blow it. Simply because his win is kind of like micheal waltrips daytona win when earnhardt was killed, noone wants to win in that kind of situation, it just sucks all the glory out of it. It felt very much like a funeral after and even during the trophy presentation. Imagine some relative nobody coming out and swiping the 86 masters from Jack, that is the basic premise is that watson had it won and cink basically stole it with a miraculous putt, had tiger or phil or someone of note done it, or watson just collapsed then it wouldnt have stung as much. Unfair as that is.

If you guys that think its proper behavior to get angry over ridiculously innocent comments or when someone has minor lapses in ettiquet (hitting first when you had the better hole or letting their shadow get in your line, etc) then believe me the people you hate to play with hate playing with you as well. I know a few guys like that and people hate to see them coming and dread getting pared with them. Most likely if you let little things like that anger you and you show it on the course then you are that guy.

I you know what to look for then u know tiger's clubs are different. different shape and the muscle part is a little higher on the face to brin the center of gravity up. Why would you think they put out clubs for us hackers that are identical to tiger's. I would bet money if you actually played his club's you would hate them. As to the ball, yeah spin is the major factor for me not feel, but the new top flight gamer v2 is a great ball.

Golf is not a game of perfect. You are swinging a little in to out with a closed club face. You will need to actually have the face more open to hit it farther to the right. However if your conistently getting that flight then you aim a little right. Almost no pro lines up exactly online. Fred couples aims way left of his target, etc etc.
-
If you root for someone then whoever beats them is the enemy. Just think about all the sports teams you hate because they took down you beloved team. Same principal
-
Well if little stuff like that bothers you then don't play competitive golf, it's a waste of money.

Don't stop moving! After you setup to the ball waggle to get loose but don't put the club behind the ball and settle yourself as i am sure you do. Its tough to start the swing the same every time from a dead stop
-
That probably because you were shifting and rotating your hips allowing a deep turn.

I bet Dustin Johnson is at one of those cartels right now curled up in the fetal position tryin to kill the memories! lol just trying to lighten the mood a bit. -
Nicklaus rarely hit a draw. The clubface decides where the ball starts not finishes, if you set up to play a 15 yard draw and swing out to the right of the target 15 yards then you get a ball that starts at the target and draws 15 yards to the left of it according to the rules of ball flight. Returning the grip back square to the swing plane is trying to control the hands is it not?

Gary player most certainly did say it on the golf channel and he pointed out that flat left wrist specifically!
