  1. Yes she lived a long life. She did in actual fact work very hard, and spent spend hours each day in her office, as well as attending numerous events. That may not be work as you see it, but it isn't too dissimilar to that of a President. You only have to watch UK TV to see the thousands of Americans who have flown over to show their respects. God Save The King
  2. I could probably do it on a 9 hole course
  3. Pitching wedge
  4. I have a friend who swapped the head covers around on his playing partner's clubs. He struck a well hit 6 iron thinking was a 9 iron, and it went about 100 yards past the green. I am mega organised. All my irons are in head covers, and sit in the same bag compartment all the time. The fact it doesn't seam to matter what iron I use, the ball rarely goes where I want it to
  5. Waiting to here if my course is closed for the funeral. As it happens I wouldn't play that day as a matter of respect. As most of you are USA based, I wondered what the reaction is over there ?

Thank God that is an American thing. I am sure you would get thrown off of the course in the UK, you certainly would be at my club
  7. LOL, yes I meant onset. My set goes from SW up to 5.
  8. Don't think much to your green keepers. Within a week our greens are back to normal If the green keepers know what they are doing, everything should be OK within a week
  9. I don't have an arm lock putter, but adopted that style of putting. I hold the grip tightly against by right arm and put from the shoulders. Like you I have never been a great putter, but it has certainly helped
  10. For the last five years I have owned a set of Ping Karsten irons, the 2014 model. They have served me well, but to be honest iron shots have never been my best. My most reliable clubs have been my three hybrids, especially the 4 and 5. For a while I considered selling the Pings and buying a full set of hybrids, and last week I took the plunge. I managed to sell my Pings for what I consider a decent price, and added not much extra to land myself a good used set of Cobra T Rail hybrids. I expected it to take a while before I got used to them, but from the offset they felt natural, although its important to hit down on the ball a little more. The ball launches like I never imagined, and I get about another 8 or so yards from each club. I can't say that have not made any bad shots using them, because that would be a lie, however the ease of use has reduced my mistakes quite considerably. In fact, first time out with them I scored 40 points. If your a higher handicapper and struggle with your irons, you may want to give it a thought.
  11. For those interested the guy who got hit as detailed in the thread, had 12 stitches in his lip. He went to our local cottage hospital and waited three hours to be seen. After he got to see a doctor he was told there was nothing they could do, and was send to another hospital 75 minutes away. Good old NHS
  12. Never managed it on my course, but although I am not a big hitter, managed it on another course last month
  13. I have had a few glancing blows, but nothing serious. I played in a comp today and witnessed something quite horrible. A bloke in my four ball, who is a very big hitter, hooked the ball left towards another golfer coming towards us on another fairway. He shouted FORE, but the other golfer didn't respond, so I shouted even louder. The ball hit him square in the face, and was probably travelling at least 100mph. He was carted away and was sent to hospital with his bottom lip hanging over his chin. Even from 120 yards I could hear it hit his face. Sleeping tonight won't be easy, I just hope he will be OK
  14. You refer to misogyny as it is a bad thing 😀
  15. I am old school, and I believe the culture may be a little different on this side of the pond. That said, I have plenty of golfing friends who are under the thumb!
  16. Played a stapleford with the seniors. The good news is I didn't come last, the bad news is I came second too last. I was dreadful and scored 27 points 😴
  17. I don't actually do any housework, but I am a dab hand at supervising I wash the cars and cut the grass, that's it. Even then only if I am not in the pub or playing golf. I am a dinosaur and proud of it LOL, I play golf to get away from the wife, if she started playing it I would find another hobby
  18. I have got trigger finger in the middle finger of my right hand, just recovering from mallet finger on the ring finger of my right hand, calcified tendons in both hands, and arthritis in both hands. I spend the evening with my hands in an electric hand massager to keep me going As you know there are a miilion and one things to remember about a golf swing. If I could only give you one tip, it would be to relax

  21. My first and most obvious is slow play. My second is golfers who won't let others play through. My third is rain. However, my biggest moan is mucking around with handicaps in competitions. Handicaps were designed to even things up between golfers, when you take 5% or 10% off of them in a competition the playing field is no longer equal, so what's the point of having a handicap?
  22. I am married, and play 3 to 4 times a week. If I want to go away on golf trips with the lads, that's what I do. Likewise, my wife can spend as much time with her friends or interests as she wishes. We aren't joined at the hip, thank God
  23. I am 64 years old, nearly 65, and play between 3 and 4 times a week. I changed my swing a few months back, which is helping my shoulders manage. To be honest I think it goes down to the individual. I play with a bloke in his mid 70s and he plays to a decent level 7 days a week
