Perhaps you’ve seen this already, but this kid’s behavior is unbelievable. It’s a missed putt by an amateur…. Let it go. If you’re wondering the kid had to pay the course $5k for damages criti

That’s a very fair point. @StuM

@snapfade I agree with you, and I’m surprised at the number of critical comments. Generally speaking three ways I use a teaching PGA teaching pro When I’ve played several rounds and continue to have the same issue. For example my pitching and sand saves were inconsistent in terms of distance and direction. After an hour or so, we reworked the setup and swing. #done At the start of the season I was working a push hook that was just driving me nuts. Some time on the range and it’s now more of a baby draw. I’m considering a new driver, so I’ll go to the range with him to see how they do.

@turtleback who can say whether she accidentally or intentionally forgot to include the one stroke penalty on her scorecard. Not sure if that merits a suspension. That said, I applaud the LPGA for enforcing the slow play rules. I’d like to see the PGA follow suit. Heck — I’d like to see my club enforce that for our tournaments!

Top of my bag is Driver, 3W, 4H, 4I …. I really like playing the 4H. I tend to go for my 4H when I’m playing into a tight fairway or the lie is light rough, etc. Highly recommend you giving the hybrid a try.

Using a 5 Wood Shaft on Your Driver
ChiTown replied to David L Yskes's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
@David L Yskes that’s pretty cool. Maybe you’re heading down the path of single length Driver, fairway woods, and hybrids. 🙂 I know there’s a lot of physics stuff around shorter shaft, swing weight, etc. But if it’s working for you … go for it! -
This is interesting convo. So what is your opinion on where mid-handicap players should focus their time to improve score? I’m guessing Approach Shots are probably the first area? Roughly speaking what mix of approach shots would be full swing vs wedge work?
-
@iacas the data was collected for people shooting 85. So they’re not PGA players. In your case or the 74 shots you take, how many are “full swing”? In terms of statistical data for golf, you should really read “Every Shot Counts” if you haven’t already. I’d also like to know where you got your data on PGA 12.5% tap ins as I’d love to see it. I’ve only seen the data as success percentages based on distance from the cup.
-
There was a really interesting GolfIQ podcast that said that for a 85 score 68% of the shots are driver, wedges, and putting. So your practice time should really focus on these three areas to see the quickest benefit.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve never read the rule either but it seems very reasonable. First, I don’t think a 4:21 round is unreasonable at a high level way of tracking time. Second, the 40 second rule to complete a stroke is pretty good too.

This is my first season trying out the CT10 sensors, and as much as I’m committed to using them for a full season I’m finding that they aren’t that helpful. My biggest issue is that the data can be inconsistent and inaccurate. For example, Garmin Golf shows my 7I average distance to be 102 and max 318. Of course neither are right. It also shows my max putter as 218. What makes this more frustrating is that I can’t edit the underlying strokes to clean up the data. It also misses strokes. I’m also lucky enough to get distance information from the range and simulator so I have a pretty good sense of my carry and total distances. Have folks had similar experiences with Arccos or SureShot? What value are users finding from the sensors?

@ScouseJohnny I’m hitting an older Callaway driver and just tried out their new Paradym on a day demo and picked up about 25 yards in overall distance. So I definitely think there is better technology now — especially for mishits etc. But I’ve also been focusing on my driver swing and am now consistently adding 10-15 yards of carry, and overall distance is 15-20 with my current driver. Only thing I’ve learned is focus on my swing and get a fitting.

What Ball Is Everybody Playing?
ChiTown replied to djhgolf's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
So that’s a good point. Manufacturing consistency is a factor to what makes a good golf ball -
That’s where I am. I think most all members would at least offer to let you play through. But the two members were new and maybe they didn’t know better. That said, every time a shot mattered (they could see it) I had a great shot. So that felt good. Haha By the way I laser anything under 200-ish. On the short end I track my carry and total distances for chip and pitch for my wedges. So I’m one of “those guys”. Hahaha
-
That’s similar to my situation. But I should probably eat a better breakfast and then start to nibble or snack around 9/10 hole.
-
I’m with you on this. I think what irked me the most was that I caught the fivesome on #2 before they teed off. It’s a private CC and the two newer members didn’t even offer to let me play through as a single with caddie
-
Completely agree. I can see playing the tips but in this case it may not have been the best decision since they weren’t hitting any GIR on the fours or fives. And it’s fair to say not all five of them should have been playing the tips. The goal for the course is a four hour round, and these guys took 2.5 hours on the front nine. They also never caught up to the group ahead of them. So they were definitely lagging.
-
Thanks for this. I’ll definitely check it out. I walk so I’m looking for things I can leave in my bag / pockets as I go. I was expecting at least one answer like this suggesting liquid carbs.
-
I’ve started to notice that while playing I start to physically and mentally start to shut down around 12-14 holes. I stay hydrated (water) but since I walk I’m also not stopping for a hot dog or something like that. (Obviously a hot dog isn’t high performance food but it’s tasty!). Anyway, I’m curious how anyone else is staying fueled up during the round. Thanks in advance!

Oh man. Yesterday I was playing at my club behind a fivesome driving three carts and one forecaddie. I was behind them walking with a caddie. Long story short two members and three guests all decide to play from the tips which runs around 6700. They’ve also decided to bet so now they’re all playing like it’s a pro tour event. My key gripes I caught up to them at the tee for every hole. Not once did they ask if I wanted to play through. Luckily, I started on the back nine (90min) and only had to deal with them when I looped the front 9 (2.5 hours!). They shouldn’t have been playing the tips. Not a one of them made GIR on the fours or fives On par fives waited for the group ahead to clear the green before hitting their second shot None of them fixed any ball marks on the green. Never played ready golf. They just moved like a herd from one ball to the next.

Hey that’s awesome congrats to you. I knew a guy that made us app own clubs from GolfSmith back in the day. He swore his home made clubs were better than store bought. No idea if that was true, and I don’t even regrip my own clubs.. Happy Bending!
-
I can see how if it’s a regular group you’re used to playing with that being the sole walker is a change. But chatting at the tee and on the green is pretty good too. Plus this gives you more time to think about your next shot and keeps your body warmed up.

Hello! Late last year I went to TrueSpec for a bag fitting and came away with new irons and wedges which are great for my game. I’m wondering if anyone has had a putter fitting lately and if there have been actual benefits to your putting? Would also appreciate knowing where you went for the fitting. Thanks in advance!

Question for Arccos or CT10 Users
ChiTown replied to ChiTown's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
@StuM I did that as well. Here is their response that I just received. Long story short I’ve now learned that it somehow self selects shots for which to count for distance vs “approach shots”. So it’s better than I thought but wish there was a way to see the shots that create the distances. If you look at your "Performance Stats," you will see a category for Drive, Approach, Chips and Putts. The program we use will toss those chip shots from your average. I think when you get inside 50 yards the change take s happen. If you hit knock down, punch or similar shots on your approach shots those might effect the average a little.
