Best looking irons? Have your say.
RyanR replied to Hacksaw's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just started looking for some new irons, and I haven't played for a really long time, but I can't remember seeing any more attractive irons than the MP 57s or the Adams Idea Pros. Both feel and look great! -
I just got back from a trip to Texas, and I ran into a Steve & Barry's and bought two shirts and a pair of the slacks. The slacks are the most comfortable pants I've put on for a long time. My girlfriend convinced me that the store was worth a look, and I'm glad she did!

I use one on all full shots, but when I'm closer, I take it off.

Thanks for the replies...Can anyone tell me how forgiving they think these clubs are compared to a regular cavity back since they're both trying to be a more forgiving players' iron? Thanks! Keep the replies coming! Ryan

Thinking about new irons. I like the Adams Idea Pro set along with the Mizuno MP 57s. I have hit the Adams a few times and it feels very nice, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with either or if you've compared the two. I'll definitely hit them both again before I buy anything, but I just wanted some other input. Thanks! Ryan

I love my new Ogio Vision SS stand bag! It's got everything you could imagine, especially for the walkers out there! Good luck, Ryan

Tired of People Hating on the 3-iron
RyanR replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't mind my 3 iron, but I don't carry it simply because of my distances and club specs. My 3 iron is only 2 degrees different than my 4, and I carry 4 wedges, so it works out really well! Like the post though. Let people do what they want! Ryan -
Vokeys are the way to go if you don't have problems with ball striking. I also have a set of CG10s that I like, but the Vokeys get a lot more spin and feel like I have a little more behind the ball and the shot. Ryan

I agree that if your current driver is working well you should consider sticking with it, but here are a few I'm going to try since I don't actually own a driver at this time (I sold mine after this past season because I didn't like it anymore). Cleveland Hibore XLS (Comes out Feb.) Nike Sumo 5000 Cobra Speed LD Taylormade Burner and Superquad Ping G10 Titleist 907 D1 & D2 I'm currently using a demo that the course I work at owns, and I like it, but it's not mine and it's pretty beat up from so many people using it. Give those a try, and actually let me know if you do and how you like them! Good luck, Ryan

As was mentioned before, it would depend on the hole. If I were to lay up, I would try to be anywhere from 100-130 out depending on hazards, but if it was pretty open and I hit driver from the tee I would be "almost there" (about 40 yards out or so). Good luck, Ryan

I just ordered an Ogio Vision SS and it's awesome! The Woode system of dividers goes all the way down to the bottom of the bag, and it's got a lot of really neat technology wrapped up in it. Look on ebay for the best price! Good luck, Ryan

Just curious why there's no Bridgestone logo on the signature options...I thought there used to be.. Thanks, Ryan

Does anyone foresee or know if some of the companies are going to do a "Buy the driver, get the fairway wood/wedge for free" promotion this year? I need a new driver, and if I could find out, I would wait until they started that. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks, Ryan

I love Tiger's attitude. It's awesome to see so much passion out of a golfer. A lot of guys get excited, but he beats the band when he does the fist pump or points the ball into the hole. He's an excellent player, and an entertainer. To answer the question, Jack or Tiger, I'm going with Jack right now as far as the most accomplished with 18 majors, etc, but I believe Tiger will prove to be better by a fair amount in the long run. Take care, Ryan

Anyone use or tried them? I know they're supposed to be pretty good and I can get them at the pro shop I work at really cheap. I picked up a dozen of each. Thinking about getting a few more if I like them! Thanks, Ryan

Thanks for trying to keep the peace Everardo...and for your input! The reason for my post was just to get suggestions on either what to try or what has worked well for other people. I know I should get fitted, but there isn't anywhere close to me to do it. Next time I get a new set of clubs, I'll go to Golfsmith up in Chicago or something to get fitted. Thanks to everyone for your responses. Ryan

I ended up ordering the Proforce V2. Thanks for the replies! Ryan

Good to hear that you finally got the irons that you've wanted for so long! Congrats! Ryan

I'm pretty sure that if you go to www.golfpride.com you can go through a fitting system that will show you what Golf Pride grips would fit you the best. Good luck, Ryan

I'm buying a Nike SQ Sumo and I'm not sure what shaft to get put in it. I know what I should really do is to try a bunch of them out, but I don't have time to do that or any local facilities. I've only hit it in the stock stiff Diamana Sasquatch and it was fine, but I always hear good things about the UST Proforce V2 and the Aldila NV 65 and some others. I know I need a stiff, but what shaft do you recommend as being a quality shaft I should look into? Thanks a lot! Ryan

How easy is it? I need new grips on my irons, and I'd like to just do it myself, but I didn't know if I would be able to line them up correctly and get them on the right way. I'm probably going to buy the kit on ebay with the tape, clamp, directions, etc. Thanks for input! Ryan

I like these two! That's hilarious..I'm definitely yelling "fer!" next time!

What's the point in banning them? I actually use one, so one could say I'm biased, but I felt this way before I used it. Like it's been said, there's nobody that's dominating the tour because of it. It's just like anything else people do to and with their equipment to help themselves out. The drivers that promote a draw or a fade help people out in a fairly unconventional way. Graphite shafts that reduce ovalling are different than those of the past and are supposed to help people hit the ball better, not to mention the size of the grooves in some wedges and the huge drivers we all use now! I love technology, and as long as everyone is allowed to use it, it's fair in my eyes. Take care, Ryan

Anyone know where I could find on the internet a place to look at what tour pros have in their bags..just curious and I remember someone saying something about it one time. Thanks, Ryan

Just switched to a Ping lil'B belly putter...amazing! So much more confident over the ball now! Good luck, Ryan
