  1. I try to have one per 9 holes. Right now the humidor has a stock of CAO Cameroon Toros, Monticristo (Double Corona I believe), and IMHO one of the best inexpensive cigars - Sancho Panza (Glorioso). I also have a ten pack of Placensia Reseeve Organica that I picked up to try. I like the toro size about 6 x 50. They seem to offer the best size for me.
  2. Actually, I thought Bob Costas was worse with his comments on the British cuisine - more insulting, typical American ethnocentricity....
  3. I enjoy a cigar when I'm out... I usually like to keep Sancho Panza's on hand - a phenomenal inexpensive cigar! - and CAO Cameroon Toros. I will also try a few other "standard" brands, but these two are my regular smokes. I prefer a 6 x 50 size. Recently picked up some Montecristo double coronas and some Placensia Reserve Organicas as well.... Nothing like a good cigar and a Guinness or Port.... BTW - can't stand cigarettes - go figure.
  4. Love the show! They make me laugh out loud at least once per show. I wish we could get more episodes though, I've seen them all and want some new material!
  5. Well, I have a "Heavy Hitter" but rarely use it. Honestly, swing speed is more about putting together all the pieces properly and not really about strength, so don't beat yourself up with the workouts thinking that is what you need. I really don't know what you need.... You need to dissect your swing and find out where you are losing speed. One thing that does apply always. Relax. Tension kills speed. You are certainly young enough to still generate a good SS. Keep at it, and as your geme comes back, I think your swing speed will get up there as well. Of course if you're hitting every fairway I'd be happy with that and damn the speed....
  6. I've a C-04 and it is a phenomenal putter. But I do better with mallets... so now I have a BC-3. This putter is wonderful. You can absolutely feel the sweet spot on it, so off center hits you can feel. I've always held the opinion that a putter is like your spouse or s/o... you know when you find the right one, and you'll never know unless you try them out.:)
  7. There was a drill on a PGA instruction video similar to this. The drill is to hit a driver 125, then 175 then 250, each time using a full swing. Of course the speed of that swing will change, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to hit a driver 125. And you'll be equally as surprised at how far you wind up hitting it doing this drill. Think on it and try it, it will help your driver performance.
  8. Excellent choice! I was wondering the same thing. Without any other knowledge, I'd be using my 56° wedge though. I do have a 61°, but I've have too many mixed results with it, so from that yardage, and nothing else to go on... 56° wedge.
  9. Blind tee shots or blind shots to the green.
  10. And my own preferences are for the Rife barbados, and the BC3 Mizuno Bettinardi. Both of these to me suit my eye at address, and the BC3 has an amazing feel. But really, I honestly believe that what you BELIEVE in will be the best putter for you - and you gotta' practice as well! If there was a "best" don't you think the pros would all be using it???
  11. I agree on this - forget the driver for now. To be honest, I crush my 3 wood, and usually its in the fairway where I aim a whole lot more than my driver is. If you have the patience and won't get frustrated and develop bad swing habits, go for the driver... And take the other advice - hit the clubs you're interested in, and get the one you hit the best, nit the one that's hyped the most. The driver is usually the hardest club to hit. What about some lessons - they are always a good choice. Whatever you choose to do - enjoy the game!
  12. I recently started to hover the club on my wood tee shots, and find I have gotten to like it better. On all other shots I still ground the club. That may change as the year progresses, but for now, its only woods on tee shots.
  13. As was said, time will tell. She will have to go through a few more seasons like last year to really make comparisons. Annika was the closest, but here days seem to be fading a bit - but then again - she could bounce back and regain what she had. She certainly has the work ethic to do so. Ochoa has it as well - we'll see how it goes.

    Driver Shaft

It's been said. Look to a good pro for lessons... And before you go looking at x shafts, get a little experience, and get fitted properly. They say fitting is for everyone - including and especially for new/high hcp players, but I find that could be a dual edge sword. (If you can't make a decent swing, doesn't really matter what is is you are holding) But if you are "satisfied" that the swing you have is what you want to work with, then get to a fitter, and let them evaluate what flex shaft suits you. Good luck with the game!
  15. I love to have a cigar when I play, but will go without one if anyone objects to smoking. Without question, anyone with a respiratory problem gets all my consideration -- if you'r asthma or in this case CF, just be honest and say so. Anyone with a half a brain would understand! Of course - I am not addicted to cigars. There are cigarette smokers who may find it harder to go without. And weird as it sounds, I can't stand the smell of cigarettes - and I used to smoke them a lonnng time ago! Now - can't stand 'em - thats just weird to me....
  16. No doubt Tiger is a once-in-a-lifetime player. His talent with a club is beyond amazing. That said, I just want to see some good competition. Too many times Tiger makes watching golf as a competitive sport - well boring. So I don't root for him. If he is playing, no doubt he will amaze me, but I'd like to see some more of the pros out there step up and make professional golf "competitive"!
  17. Yep... Rock Bottom was good to me as well!!
  18. One of the first posters referenced Tom Wishon, and I read both his books and came away with a good deal of understanding.... That said, I've got a 10.5° Cleveland XL and a SS of around 110. I'm using an Epic stiff in it. I'm trying the same club in a 9.5° with the same shaft. I'm curious to see if it works out a little better.....
  19. You need to post on the Mac forums... Try macosxhints or macosg. They are very helpful. You will need to provide a bit more info though. You may need to collect some logs for the gurus to decipher. BTW, if you have an Apple store within driving distance, you should also considier going there and visiting their genius bar. If you don't have a lot of data on the HD, you can always do a clean install. That would rule out a software problem....
  20. We play every winter at a local indoor simulator... I use it to practice my swig and see how my path is (one of the problems I fight). I seem to hit really well on the sims - so much so that I jokingly tell my partners that I'm giving up "real" golf for "sim golf". Its better than no golf at all, and we always have a real good time. For us its cheap as well!
  21. I think they blew the call on this one.... The glove does feel good, but thats about it. I have used one and really now - its not going to shave any shots off your game. It was durable and comfortable. Period. USGA is way off on this one....
  22. I drink both, and appreciate a good strong cup of either. If you really love your coffee, you should look into roasting your own.... nothing is fresher.... I haven't bought roasted coffee in years...
  23. looks to me like he was just stopping his forward momentum, then tapped in.
  24. Well, I like 'em.... But I have trouble spending that when I have a C-04, and a Rife Barbados. I like the Rife very much, and its the one I use. I like the Mizuno blade putters, but not their mallet design, which is too bad - I just hit mallets better.
