  1. I'm currenntly using an old Odyssey Dual force blade. A friend gave it to me when he moved. It sat around for a bit until I had it cut/regripped to fit me. I started using it and fell in love. It just feels right and the fit is right ( I'm very short ) Having said that I've long had my eye on an Odyssey # 9 White Hot Tour ( I like the finish ) and as prices fall and I sit all winter with no golf, we'll see what I end up using next year.
  2. Titleist 983K. I don't know why but I loved that thing. When I was hitting it well it went faaaaaaaaarr.
  3. Absolutely crushing a driver off the tee and watching it go dead straight down the fairway.....until the wind that you failed to properly account for pushes it off the fairway and into the long grass.
  4. I think it should be noted that many mid to high cappers would benefit from reading this book and applying the strategy to the entire course. My last round I birdied a par 4 that the other 3 guys I was playing with got pars and bogeys on. They all hit driver off the tee while I hit a three iron. One drive went in the long grass, one in a bunker and the other behind a big grassy mound to the left of the green. My 3 iron? Laid up to the fairway bunker in front of the green, pitched it on and putted it in. I know I can hit a fairly accurate 3 iron off the tee. I also knew where the trouble was and that I couldn't reach it. Strategy is over looked by so many people. Everyone seems dead set on hitting their driver a million times in a round. If you shoot a good score and only use it 6 times, then so be it. Don't get me wrong, when there is very little trouble or I am confident about my shot shaping that day, I 'll hit driver as much as I can. Pick the shot with the club that you KNOW you can hit and has the LEAST probability of getting in trouble.
  5. After I have addressed the ball and have completed my set up I ask myself " Is this good?" From there if I feel like it's good my only other thoughts are " Back and Through" to help promote a good rythmn. If after I ask myself if it's good I don't feel right, I start my set up all over.
  6. I keep my reliable Odyssey Dual Force Blade in my bag. It's just very very familiar to me and gets the job done. I do own a Nike OZ mallet and right now we have a love/hate relationship.
  7. Yes, he didn't do a very good job at it. I find it funny how alot of the S & T pieces are making their way into " tips " without anyone coming out and giving them credit where credit is due.
  8. Anyone catch The Golf Fix tonight lol.
  9. Interesting take on the shot. I think I'll give it a couple trials in my practice this week.
  10. My putting has improved astronomically over the last few weeks and I'll tell you why. I get behind my ball, crouch down to get a read. All I do is look, I don't think to myself " well, it goes left, blah blah blah", just look and take it all in . I start walking back to my ball and take my grip. I stand over the ball and look to the hole and think " ok, that far, uphill/downhill a little etc" Look down, check my putter face alignment and swing. All of this is done fairly quickly. I have made a conscious effort to stop thinking about putting. I let my brain get a look at the break in the green, take note of how far away it is..... then putt. You'd be amazed how smart your brain is at making putts if you just give it the information and let it happen.
  11. Encountered a new problem tonight during men's night. At what point do you allow the right hip to turn towards the target? I drive my hips forward very effectively and did a much better job of keeping my head back with the ball tonight. I just couldn't get the turn of the right hip towards the target right. I've never had a problem with it before and tonight I just lost it, I could not do it.
  12. I've gained distance on my long irons and woods, and my driver is more accurate than it has ever been. For what's it's worth, I have found RHTYMN to be the absolute most important aspect of using S & T with my driver. The rythmn has to be there, no rushing etc or else it fails. When I swing with a nice rythmn/tempo, it's golden.
  13. I played a pretty good round yesterday, but was a little disappointed because it could have been better. Many of my approach shots with my irons were pushes with no side movement at all. As I played on I made one correction on the 18th hole, and consequently did not have any pushes on that hole. I noticed on my downswing/follow through I was allowing my head, shoulders, basically everything to move forward with the hips instead of keeping them over the ball. Is this something that will actually aid to producing that push? I'm going out today and would like to work on keeping it out of play. If not, what are the common mistakes that will result in a push?
  14. Shot a 90 today and was really unhappy with what I left out on the course. The course was playing in reverse order today in order to let the crew get some work done on the front 9 ( they've been rained out recently ) I shot 44 in my first 9, including 2 doubles that really could have been bogey or better quite easily. I made the turn to the front 9 and started alright with a bogey after hooking my drive into some trees. Hole 2 and 3 went alright as well. Then I hit a log jam. A 4 some that was playing WAY too slow ( i'm a patient guy, but this was unbelieveable ). Then learned in front of them was a twosome, almost as slow, and in front of them another twosome just as slow. It was chaos and I let it get to me. I became impatient, when I could finally take a shot I was rushing it. Lesson learned, hopefully next time is a little lower.
  15. What did Rory have to lose? Tiger has been dismal and if it continues, then Rory was right. If Tiger plays in the Ryder Cup, finds his form and plays like he can the story will be about Tiger's comeback.
  16. Most of them are in the same place as the videos of Bigfoot, UFO's, Loch Ness monster, ghosts and the likes. They either don't exist or they are being photoshopped to fool us into believing. Not saying there aren't any amatuers out there who can drive it 300 yards, but there are far more who either think they can and are wrong or just talk like they can.

  18. Yes. The focus of the weight is to maintain it on the front foot. There is no conscious shifting of the weight back. The weight starts with about 55% on the left foot and as you progress through the swing the weight on the left foot increases. The side tilt towards the target does happen but is offset by the rotation of the shoulders and body.
  19. I should add too though that lag should not be confused with a side to side bending of the wrist, because that will completely destroy your swing.
  20. I played with a guy who took 5 shots to get it on from 50 yards away. He was trying to set up the perfect spot to make sure he was closest to. Needless to say we didnt allow that to go on for long.
  21. I received my copy and have started reading it. I see now what was meant by not going too in depth with technique, but I think it's a good read for any golfer. I think it could have used a different title though. Maybe something like " Hey dummy, do you really think you're going to make that shot? How about you play it safe and make a shot you'll actually hit? See I told you so " by Stan Utley
  22. [QUOTE=newtogolf;516196][QUOTE=Beady;515686]Lag is the easiest way to do it, but once you create it I see alot of people let it go to waste. I dont think about letting it go. I set the lag and go through my swing, lower body, arms club etc. I find that as I swing the lag releases down at the ball. When I think about releasing the lag, I cast it down at the ball and hit it fat everytime. Build the lag and then just let it happen.
  23. I am 5'4". I can tell you from experience, get fit. You won't believe how it will help your game. I hit my clubs well before they were cut down, but even better now that they are a more appropriate length.
  24. In addition to all of that, the market for golf there is drastically different. Due to space restrictions any land that golf courses are on comes at a pretty high premium. In reaction to that the money involved to play golf makes it very very expensive and those who can afford it will pay more for clubs as well.
