  1. I actually LOL'd.......good one
  2. I like the tin cup suggestion. My first thoughts were: shortknockers.com icanflyu.com
  3. Yeah....it's nearly impossible to get the line drawn like the pic shows. Balls end up like my 7 month old coloring one....lol
  4. http://www.riverbendresort.us/golf-course-about.php
  5. I have a pretty high ball flight with my irons, and I like it that way as long as (as others have said) I don't loos distance. I feel it's an advantage to come into the green (let's just assume I could hit one...lol) at a steeper angle to minimize roll. Then again, some better players than myself can do that with more piercing trajectories....so what do I know...lol.
  6. Agree with above two posts. I don't go for par fives in two unless I can hit a 4 hybrid into it, with a smooth controlled swing, not one that requires an "extra umph".
  7. Why not just look on ebay, for a used one, or borrow one for the purpose of finding out if it feels right? [edit]: I bought my wife a RAM full set at academy a couple of years ago. Messing around, I hit a great drive with the driver from that set. Not much different that with my own driver at that time (Launcher 460).
  8. Agree with the above, some holes I think of bogeys as pars. Also happens when I have to pitch out to the fairway from trouble....think of bogey as par. Also, I try (when possible) to not start a shot towards trouble. If I'm mostly drawing the ball one day, and the approach has water on the right with a pin placement towards said water, I just try and land left of that, thus eliminating (lol, well, trying to eliminate) the water.
  9. a "nice and easy", yet not lazy, swing. Distance and direction control.
  10. I have played with low handicappers that I hit the ball further than; however, they hit it straight on a high percentage of their shots. On the other hand, I've played with people who can really generate alot of power, but have high handicaps because they can't control said power; therefore, when all things fall into place, the planets align with the stars, and the gods are pleased....they can crush the ball in play every once in a while. That said, I am impressed with how many people can really hit a long ball.
  11. Driver: 260, with roll 3W: 230 with roll 4H: 190-200 4I: 180-185 5I:165-175 6I:155-160 7I:145-150 8I:135-140 9I:125-130 PW:115-120 50:105-110 54:90-100 58:75-85 I used to hit farther, though more inconsistently and have been working on smoothing out my swing "nice and easy". Have lost some distance, but have become much more consistent on these distances whereas before I would hit an 8 iron at a target 150 and either chunk it, fly it, and every now and again hit it...lol. Also, I used to get into hooking shots more before, and now it seldomly happens. Consistency over power is my latest trend and I have seen my handicap drop 4 strokes thus far.
  12. To this day an 87, but I'm seeing my average score drop, so hopefully I will be able to post a lower number soon.
  13. Mine have all pretty much come with my 4 hybrid. Best has to be this past sunday, 190 yards away with a headwind (that had been forcing me to play to clubs more on most shots) to an island green. I usually hit this club 195-200, but I visualized (important as mentioned above) myself puring the ball with a smooth controlled swing in order to make crisp contact. Funny, I did just that and hit it to about six feet... ....then comes the two putt for par.....lol, oh well, still enjoyed thoroughly that approach! [Edit]: On that same day, on a par 5 from 220 yards away (tailwind) it gave me my second eagle opportunity ever, it was about a 16 foot putt that ended up about half a foot from the hole.....oh well, I enjoyed having an eagle try!
  14. I write my sons initials under the logo.
  15. My set goes: Driver, 16* wood, and then to hybrids. Seldomly do I use a wood from the fairway as it doesn't give me that much confidence. On the other hand the hybrids give me alot more confidence from the fairway so they are more versatile for me.
  16. In the game improvement category, I would take a look at the Mizuno MX-200 (replacement for my MX-25's) and the Adams Idea A4. Both of these are forged and the Adams even comes with hybrids integrated in the set. Lots of people have high regards for the TM Burners. Also, I think that the Cobra FP(?) which I think is no longer manufactured but you can still find have been a good "sleeper" club from what I hear.
  17. My PW is 46 and I decided to go with 50,54,58 wedges in order to have consistant jumps in all my wedges. Also, all my wedges are low bounce since most courses in south texas are pretty firm. I've been thinking of a configuration in which I get rid of one club and add another 54 wedge with a higher bounce for softer turf/sand or for thick rough.....
  18. I've read that these drivers usually impart a higher spin, thus straighter and a bit shorter....at least in the reviews I've read. Perhaps if you naturally impart more backspin, this exagerates it thus the ball ballooning a bit??
  19. I do believe the hype as far as off center hits and forgiveness go; however, my guess would be that a terrible over the top and open face swing will still slice pretty bad....surely you can duck hook the thing as well...
  20. Since it's about opinions, my vote definitely goes to the hybrid. To me, they are much easier to hit off the deck (I sometimes struggle with woods) and is a better option from the rough. Versatility, I guess is what it comes down to for me.
  21. Not only in golf, but generally I will only give an opinion when asked for one. In golf, when asked about slicing, hooking, pushing etc., instead of trying to fix them, I just point out two key parts of the outcome of the ball flight (assuming the didn't top or chunk it). Path vs. Clubface direction. Then I recommend they get lessons to fix those two.
  22. As others have said, and what brought me to be able to shoot under 100 more consistently was to not worry about the score, don't overthink, and play within yourself. Too many times it's happened when I ruined a good driving day b/c I suddenlty thought I could hit it a little harder.....which only led to a hook. I think it's imperative to keep your swing off the tee shot "humble". Also, helped me to think of bogeys as pars. Usually a bogey on every hole is a 90!
  23. When I need accuracy off the tee, 4 Hybrid. For approach shots, I like being anwhere from 110 - 140 and am pretty confident with my 50*, PW, and 8i....for some reason the 9 doesn't give me as much confidence.
