Guys,

Now that the high 80's low 90's are here to stay, I find my Wilson Ci7's slipping more than I like. I tend to walk and carry which makes me sweat a lot, what grips should I go to, generally?

I had the same problem and Winns worked the best for me. Even if my hands are wet I don't feel like they slip

I'm a big Golf Pride fan and like the New Decade, they are a little rougher then a lot of cord grips. Golf Pride has a new BCT Tour Velvet cord that is softer

Just carry a small, wet with cold water, towel with you. If you carry it with your hands as you walk it will cool your hands and they won't be sweating when you hit your shot. Been doing this for many years and it keeps the hands dry all day.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Are cord grips designed for wet/humid weather? I've heard they are terrible for the hands is this true?

Cord grips can be hard on your hands because they tend to be firmer and rougher than non-cord grips. But the GP New Decade grips are cord under your gloved hand and soft rubber under your other hand. I love 'em. Easy on the hands but don't slip in the Texas heat and humidity.

I like tour wrap cords and have also had good luck with the Lamkin Torsion Control grips. I'll be trying the New Decades next time around based on the good things I've heard about them though.

FWIW, I also carry at least 2 (3 is better) gloves and remove the glove after every shot when it's really hot.....not really a hassle since I take it off when chipping and putting anyway. I carry a large (bath size) towel that is wet on half.....I wipe and dry my grips and dry my hands before every shot. It needn't take any extra time if it's part of your routine.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I've always played full cord grips because my hands sweat a bit and when I have to play in the rain they are the only thing that keeps the grip from flying further than the ball.

I played Golf Pride full cord grips for the longest time and they tore up my hands and would still get pretty slick occasionally. I recently switched to Lamkin full cord grips, and they are great. The rubber compound seems to be a little softer so they are not quite as harsh.

The bottom line is that yes, they are a bit more harsh on your hands than your typical tour velvet or comparable grip, but if you have a problem with moisture on your hands, they do a good job of keeping a grip on your hands. You will definitely develop a little callous on the lower pad of your right forefinger though...

I've heard good things about the New Decade grips as an alternative, although I have heard they get slick pretty quickly and may only get you through one season before needing to replace them.

Im in NW Florida and have had good results with the DD2, and would also recommend the New Decade. The New Decade was a little rough on my hands, but a little bit of tape in the right place fixed that. Still use it on my driver.
