La Cantera (Palmer Course), San Antonio

3 posts in this topic

I have played the Resort course, and will have a chance to play the Palmer course this weekend.  I know there are blind shots which make it difficult if you have never played it before.  If any of you have played it, do you have any general advice, or remember any particular aiming points that could help?

Thanks in advance!

I played it a handful of times over the three years I lived in San Antonio. Personally, I think it's a much better course than the Resort, but it's tough. There are a few blind tee shots, but they aren't particularly tricky.

Take a few minutes and tour the holes at this link . It'll give you some idea what the holes will look like.

Have fun!

The back nine is more difficult than the front so get your scoring done early.  The back is pretty exposed to the wind, especially #10.  Whatever you do, keep your ball left on the tee shot and play conservatively (I made a "9" on that #@$% ! hole).

I think you will find that both courses are fun and well maintained.

Finally, don't go to the main resort clubhouse (like we did).  The Palmer course is a mile or so down the road.
