hi, I started playing golf again last year. I played as a kid and then didn't play for years (I am 33 now). My swing speed with good tempo is 96 mph. I run regularly and work out but is there any way I can increase my speed a little?? I would love to swing around 100 or 105 mph. When I started again last year I was around 89 mph so it is going up but is there anything specific anyone here knows about that I can do to help the process along?? Something tells me those swing speed sticks that Vijay apparently "loves" are just a gimmick - any thoughts??

You can purchases one of those weighted swing trainers. They look exactly like a golf club, the grip is one that comes with proper hand alignment and it weighs about five pounds. It's good to get loose with and to work on generating more speed.

Think of it as one of those weighted bats ballplayers use.

Well, I have a "Heavy Hitter" but rarely use it. Honestly, swing speed is more about putting together all the pieces properly and not really about strength, so don't beat yourself up with the workouts thinking that is what you need.

I really don't know what you need.... You need to dissect your swing and find out where you are losing speed. One thing that does apply always. Relax. Tension kills speed. You are certainly young enough to still generate a good SS. Keep at it, and as your geme comes back, I think your swing speed will get up there as well.

Of course if you're hitting every fairway I'd be happy with that and damn the speed....
