I've recently gotten a bad case of golfer's elbow and my doctor suggested I get oversized grips on all of my clubs to relieve the stress of constant grip pressure.

Has anyone ever tried this? Not even sure if they make oversized grips for irons/woods.

The best oversized grips I've found are the Lamkin Jumbo Oversized. I had them on my Hogan CFT hybrids a couple yrs. ago and they are sweeeeet!!!! As far as oversized grips relieving golfer's elbow, I have no clue.

Oversized grips for irons/woods are made by all of the big grips companies, in most all of the better-selling/most popular models (golf pride has oversized grips in DD2, dual durometer, tour velvet, tour wrap, for example).

I use oversized grips because my hands are huge. I love them, I doubt you will be disappointed with the switch.

Not to hijack your thread or anything, but this brings up a good uestion for me as well that I never really thought of until I saw this.

I have some nerve damage and arthritis in my hands which gives me trouble when I am gripping my clubs. I have never asked my doctor about this, but I wonder if it would help me to have oversized grips. I do not have big hands (about 7 1/4 inches from wrist to tip of middle finger) but the grips always feel so small in my hands so I get uncomfortable. They just don't seem to fit well in my fingers. which causes me to grip harder and do a lot of re-gripping while addressing the ball.

Any thoughts?

Unless your hands are really big, don't be surprised if you start losing everything to the right. I had them put on by mistake once and thought I would just try them but everything went right. I couldn't wait to put stock grips back on.

I'm trying out a few Lamkin Arthritic grips right now. They are oversized and have a "nubby" texture that is both soft and tacky. They really do help me keep a lighter pressure on the grip and are very comfortable.

They're about $2.50 ea at Golf Galaxy, so if you re-grip yourself, it's fairly cheap to buy a few and try 'em out.

Interesting! That's what I was concerned about, whether the bigger grips will affect my swing. My hands are average size, so I guess I will have see for myself.

Thanks for the info! I'll try one on one of my rock clubs (have a lot of these playing in Vegas) and see if it makes a difference.

I have been using these grips for the last couple of seasons and they have been working out great. Try getting one of your clubs regripped, like a wedge, to see if you prefer more a mid-size or jumbo size grip (the Jumbos are really big!).

I had these put on everything:Winn Polymer-Cord Hybrid Blue/Black Midsize. They are the latest from Winn. I love 'em. I do have big hands though. You know what they say about guys with oversized grips, right?

I'm also partial to Winn grips so, take it for what it's worth.

Yes, I did, but a different brand. While they did help take my right hand out of the swing to a small degree, I was largely unimpressed.

Your mileage may vary, but they weren't for me...

I have small hands (wrist to tip 7") but my fingers are kind of fat. I played with oversize grips one season when I didn't know anything about clubmaking, but I seemed to like the feel. It was almost like the more surface area my hand had on the club, the more secure it felt.
Thinking I needed smaller grips, the next year I regripped and tried to squeeze women's grips on with one tape layer, (but had to cut the grip bottoms off since they were not fitting)! It turns out they don't feel any smaller than a normal grip would.
Now I am thinking of going back to midsize or oversize for my next regripping. ..wondering if anyone else has a similar experience of liking big grips for small hands.

I switched to super oversize grips by JumboMax after a friend let me try his. They are the size of a baseball bat handle, but they made me hit the ball way straighter. I have average size (M/L) mitts. My friends borrow my driver with the fat grip when we're playing a tight driving hole now.

I also have arthritis in both my hands. This year I had all my clubs regripped with Winn Excel RF Oversize +1/8” Weather Black grips. The larger size and good tackiness has really helped reduce the soreness during the 2nd nine and afterwards. I bought the grips and had them installed at my local golfsmith. Very glad I did this. Btw, I wear a glove on both hands and have graphite shafts which also helps.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
