About time for me to change out my grips and am thinking of using the GP DD2 midsize. Anybody using these and any opinions?

what i plan on doing, instead of getting midsized grips, is going with a regular size grip but having them do either 2 or 3 tape wraps before applying the grips. Midsize grips would be the equivalent of 4 wraps.

I've been using those for a while now and love them. There is another thread here where I go into a little more detail of my opinion.

how is the durability on the grips? You getting six months, a year, or more? Also, how is the grip when dampness from humidity gets bad?

That is my major concern. I too live in FL, and the humidity is of course very high.

I usually regrip around 6-8 months anyway, but they are still in very good shape at that point. So I'm probably throwing away a few dollars by regriping too early.

They are not the tackiest grip I've ever played in the rain, that seems to be one minus for them. However the couple of real rains I've played in were pretty heavy rains, so swinging in general was a chore. But general 'moisture' from sweat, humidity or a light sprinkle of rain has never been an issue.

I threw a couple of these on yesterday and played a round. Wow. I really like the feel of these. I am coming from playing a Lamkin midsize wrap. The DD2 handled the wetness (rained in the am and humidity was about 75%) much better than the wraps did. I am going to be regripping the rest of my bag as soon as I can. I went with the yellow and black (they look quite sharp), and the only downside is that yellow got a bit dirty, but it came off with a little scrub after I got home.

I've been playing the DD series since it's introduction. I've liked them all.

I played the origianl DD before switching to the DD2 and really liked those also. Then I switched to the standard DD2, then to the midsize after trying just one out on a driver. Really the only reason I switched was the feel factor of the midsize DD2.

    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
