Tuesdays Practice Round @ The PGA Championship

I went to yesterdays practice @ the famed Oakland Hill South course yesterday. The course is in great condition. The greens were receptive but were rolling at about a 12.5 on the stimpmeter (according to one of the officials we talked to) and will be getting faster throughout the week! The rough was only cut to 3 1/2 inches but it was thick. Several players struggled to make clean contact when their ball buried.

The practice area was the best part of the day. Believe it or not, J.J. Henry was the most intriguing. He hit balls for about 2 hours straight. Each shot was videotaped, replayed, and scrutinized beyond my comprehension. His coach and caddy broke down each and every one of his swings, made adjustments, and then he hit again. He never changed clubs and hit, what appeared to be, a 4 iron the entire time I was there. Many players (F. Couples and J. Hass to name a couple) had no involvement / input from their caddies or coaches while on the practice range. I even saw a few shanks!

I watched A. Kim hit over a dozen balls on #15 tee. He pulled his first, pushed his second, and kept hitting balls until he was satisfied with the result (changing the trajectory, ball flight, and adjusting the distance each time).

Fast greens, thick rough, 7400 yds, and tight fairways should make for an exciting tournament.

That sounds really fun. I think it's interesting how prepared or seemingly unprepared pros can be. Everyone has their own routine and it sounds like the older guys just want to get the round over with lol
