Need a new driver shaft and/or loft?

My swing speed has def gone up in the last few weeks with my new swing and now my balls tend to ballon and fade. I have a reg shaft in my XLS and I'm going to the shop to get my swing speed and launch angle measured. I was at the cusp at 95 mph when I bought the driver and opted for the reg flex as to not make myself swing harder with a stiffy.

Can anyone recommend a shaft that's going to lower my traj and keep the ball from fading? Im pretty sure it's not a swing issue, I was hitting them pretty straight and long 275-295. I have the stock Fit on gold reg flex shaft on a 10.5 Cleveland XLS. Would like to know if replacing the R flex with a Stiff will fix it or if I should also get a 9 or 9.5 driver.

I would just get a new shaft. The proper shaft can change the trajectory quite a bit. I think that you would do well with a stiff shaft. I don't know specific shafts too well, but I suggest that you find one that has low torque. I think this will help you with that fade a little bit.

I also think a new shaft flex will help you. The only other thing I can add is to get a heavier shaft weight. You don't want to use a shaft that is under the 70 - 75 gram range IMHO

I would just get a new shaft. The proper shaft can change the trajectory quite a bit. I think that you would do well with a stiff shaft. I don't know specific shafts too well, but I suggest that you find one that has low torque. I think this will help you with that fade a little bit.

Low kick shaft would actually give the ball more trajectory. you will probably want a mid to high kick shaft to keep a lower ball flight. but yes you will want a stiff shaft. at a 95 mph swing speed i would have went with a stiff shaft. i thought the line between of a stiff and regular flex is around 91 but i could be wrong. cleveland got smart and acutally put two differnt shafts in the model the yellow one being a low kick and the red being a mid to high kick. but correct me if im wrong but i think the alidila NVS is a mid to high kick shaft.

sounds like you need a high flex point and lower torque shaft. If that combination doesn't work then go stiffer.

You need a mid or high kickpoint shaft. Just remember it is opposite. Low kickpoint = high ball flight. High kickpoint = low ball flight.

With all due respect to the others that have posted here, I would not go for a low torque shaft. Lower torqe induces a push/fade/slice. Higher torque induces a draw/hook.

If your ball flight is a push/fade (starts out to the right, then starts to fade to the right) I would recommend a high tourque shaft. This will help turn your push/fade into a draw (a nice shot to have.)

If your ball flight is straight/fade (starts out straight, then has a slight fade to the right) I would recommend a medium torque shaft.

A low torque shaft will turn your fade into a bigger fade.

Torque is one of the least understood shaft ratings by most people. Just like flex and kickpoint, you need to match the correct torque to your swing. Saying less torque is always better is like saying a stiffer shaft (less flex) is always better.

A 95 mph swing may/may not be a stiff shaft. It depends on the shaft. There are plenty of shafts out there where 95 is the lower edge of what they consider stiff. Golfsmith has recommended swing speeds for every shaft they carry. IMHO though, if you have a smooth swing you should error on the flexible side. A choppy/jerky swing you should error on the stiff side.

Just to add on that you may not need a stiff shaft I found this on golfsmith.com:

Fujikura Vista Pro 70
Mid ball flight
70 grams
4.0 torque (mid range)
Regular flex - 90-100 mph swing speed
Stiff flex - 100-110 mph swing speed

Thanks everyone for the insight and advice!

So as I'm understanding it:
in a nutshell, stiffer for more accuracy and more flex for distance (I'm not searching for more distance, I'm completely satisfied with 285-300...for now ) but like I said, as I've gained more distance I've seen more of my drives really going High and starting to fade more and more.

I think I'll try your advice Hytrew, gonna go with mid/mid, probably the Fuji Vista Pro you recomended. I'll hit the Golfsmith either later tonight or tomorrow and get on the monitor and get the driver re-shafted.
