I have a Circa 62 with the black oxide finish. I wiped it down etc after each round...but it still rusted up pretty quickly.


SC is willing to refinish it with the charcoal mist finish. Anyone have experience with this finish?

he does ok work... expensive for what you get... worth getting rid of the putter rust though (he'll reshaft with a pretty standard shaft, and throw in a new shaftband (wow!)

quality is good, probably a month turn around time

there are other companies who offer many different finishes for a cheaper price

i already own the putter. they are refinishing it for free under warranty. I was just interested if it takes the same care as properly taking care of the black oxide finish. (turning the headcover inside out...wrapping the head in baby oil'd towel etc).

no... the charcoal finish is pretty much maintance free... just wipe it down a rag

Yeah, it's completely ruined. It won't ever look or putt right again.

I'll take some of that action.

I was wondering the same thing about the finish as well. I'm lusting for a Red X 3 in that finish and didn't know how hard it'd be to maintain.

I too had a circa 62 no 3. I was constantly putting baby oil on it an wiping it down. Never got one with the mist finish but I think they look cool and hold up well.

Can you coat the inside of the headcover with something that will help.....not saturate it....but just a light application.

I don't know....that may be a bad idea....introducing something like baby oil into your golf game....would make for slick grips later on.

The Charcoal Mist finish is a plated finish so it is by nature very durable. I'd go for it.

you can liberally apply silicone lubricant to the putter then place it in its headcover right away, this will let some of the extra lube seap into the cover
