Friend gave me a brand new 2 ball SRT. Problem is that it's a 35". I think I would rather have a 33 or smaller. Can this be done?

If it is brand new why not exchange it for a new 33 inch putter? Some putting companies have different weight for the lenght of the putter for balance, so be aware of this on your putter.

It isn't brand new, it's got some noticeable nicks on it.

I had a putter cut down in the same manner. I asked the guy who did the work about the swing weight and he added a weighted plug of some sort in the butt end of the putter before regripping it.

What is it guys, like 8 grams for an inch of steel cut? 8 to 10 I think.

So, if you cut it down 2 inches, you'll want to add somewhere between 16 to 20 grams??

I think that's how it works. Call a club builder!

Thanks for the tip. I'll call one up and see what the deal is.

swing weight doesn't apply so much because your putting stroke is so much shorter than a real swing

butt weight is to help stabilize your stroke to OP: it can be done. I had a two-ball it was cut down to 33" from 35". what happened to it? it's too short for me :p oops. mallet heads are heavier compare to blades so you should be fine. if you feel the head is too light, just add some lead tapes.
