kinda the same boat with other clubs. A lot of what I am hearing is they have a good forgiveness, but the feedback is muted. Muted enough for people not to like it anyway. other then that I hear they are a good GI club.

Well it really depends if you want forgiveness or if you want more workability.

Because if you want a little more workability (but a little less forgiveness) than the CG Reds are for you, but if you want a little more forgiveness, than I'd recommend the CG Golds.

You being a 10.8 handicapper it's kind of hard to suggest which one. Being somewhere in the middle of a great ball striker, and an average ball striker. I'd say that your best bet is to go somewhere and hit both.

The CG Red's are NOT game improvement clubs, heck they have Tour Spec written in the cavity.

Here's what I play:

Titleist 907 D2 10.5* UST ProForce V2 76-S | Titleist 906F4 18.5* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist 585H 21* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist ZB 4-PW TTDG S300 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 54.10 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 60.08 | Scotty Cameron Red X5 33" |

I hear they have a dull feel. You don't see to many people that own them either (at least i haven't). You don't see many people with the "better player" cleveland irons in general. I think your money is better spent on mizuno or taylormade, maybe titleist.

That's quite true. If you really like Cleveland and are looking for a "players cavity" I'd look at the CG2. These are not muted at all. They are very soft with a ton of feedback. I know this sounds contridictory, but it's true. You'll get in for at least half the price of the Mizuno/Titleist crowd.

I actually got a cherry demo set with the 3 iron still in the wrapper for $225 tax included at a local retailer. I couldn't tell they had been hit! The biggest steal I've ever got on a set of irons. But I suppose you get what you pay for. I love these clubs but would trade even for a set of MP52s.....no takers?

I agree, you only know it when you hit them bad, when you hit them right it feels like hitting a pillow, it's odd but I like it. And Stacey I agree, I want a set of MP-57's or MP-52's too.

I lean the cg2 for the simple reason that they are cheap. mp-52's would be very nice but due to cost can't do it. From what I hear cg2's are more forgiving dispite how, some would say, they look. No personal yet though =/

I'm not sure if this will help, since I don't own the reds but here goes. I got the cg golds for my birthday, and I'm very glad that I did. These clubs are more GI then the reds for sure but I'm able to work the ball (to a degree) and I'm not a great irons player. And who ever said they don't have feed back, well I'm just not sold on that. When I pure one of these irons it feels silky smooth, and you can tell pretty easily. These clubs will allow you to grow with them, into a true players club. Best advice is to try them out, compare them side by side to other clubs. Best of luck mate.

ive hit a few balls with these persoanlly i didnt really like them. Mainly becuase i felt the top line was on the bulkier side for what they condsider a "players club" If a players club is what your looking for i recomend some mizunos or some callaway x-forged irons.

hope this helps

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
