does anyone know where i can get some? I have always wanted some, ecause i tend to slip sometimes. I realize many courseds dont allow them, but to be honest....i could care less. Im not the idiot that screws up the greens by dragging their feet, i have excellent golf etiquette.

I understand the desire for metal spikes. I've never cared much for plastic spikes since I quit using them in baseball and realized metal was better. But house rules are, well, rules. Integrity of the game.

Sorry, I can't help either. I agree with the others and would add one other point......metal spikes make a very loud and distinctive sound when you walk on any kind of hard surface. Even if you wanted to, you'd never be able to hide the fact that you were wearing them without an awful lot of effort!

FWIW.......I might be a minority, but I really think that good soft spikes are better than metal ever were, and yes, I'm dating myself here.........

The difference lies in the fact that soft spikes need to be replaced much more regularly to retain their functionality.

I remember what greens were like before courses went to banning metal spikes. It was a mess around the cups, especially in the afternoon. I will gladly sacrifice a little grip so my putts will role online and I don't have to fix other people's spike marks.

Plus a challenge, chart your scores using metal and non-metal spikes. Won't even be 1/10th of a stroke difference a round. Additionally, your metal spikes will lead to more knee injuries, because your foot won't twist so your knee will.

Finally, you don't want to wear metal spikes on any golf course that does not allow them. Your spike shows will look like tracks through snow, on the greens.

My own course here in the UK doesnt have a 'soft spike's only' rule, and a good few members, including myself, much prefer metal traditional spikes.

I find that in anything other than completely dry conditions, soft spikes just clog up and are a pain in the @ss.

Obey course rules, yes, but given a choice,.........

Those 2 statements are somewhat contradictary. Part of, "excellent golf etiquette" is following the rules.

and part of golf etiquette is following the rules and having respect for the course which i do. I pick up lose trash put it in garbage bins, replace my divots and others divots, rake the bunker when done and replace at least 3 ball marks on every green. I do enough for the courses i play on, and show the ultimate respect for them...plenty of golfers i play with have no etiquette, and it truly pisses me off!

I was wondering if i take the spikes off on my footjoy dryjoys, and try to replace them with metal spikes they will fit? are golf spike screws universal? or are there different sizes?

yes i did, but this isn't what the thread is asking... so please stop with an argument that you are losing.

Anyways, anyone know if spike sizes are universal and will metal spikes be able to fit in my dry joys.

since no one else answered it. No, spike screws are not universal, adidas, footjoy, and nike have their own. I belive that other brands tend to use one of the three. But I could be mistaken.

Truth be told, you're the one who's losing this argument because you've done nothing but contradict your own statement about having impeccable etiquette by continuing to ask the same question over and over again without addressing why disobeying the rules and wearing metal spikes on a soft-spike-only course is not only acceptable etiquette, but impeccable etiquette.

Are we failing to change your mind? It sure sounds like it. However, in this case, that just means that you're ignoring the argument, not that we're losing it. And yes, I would love to wear metal spikes and get my hands on some of those Stinger hybrids that came up earlier in the thread. But I'd change them out for regular Stingers if the course told me to.

Honestly, I do not miss metal spikes at all. The only thing I dislike about rubber/plastic spikes is that most brands clog up too easily when ground is wet. I think they grip better when the ground is dry, though. I remember about 20 years ago that I was playing on a rainy day and was walking up a cart path with metal spikes and both feet slipped out from under me, causing me to fall hard on my kness and hands (with an old heavy bag on my back, that wasn't what I would call fun). I wasn't hurt badly, but I was worried about walking in metal spikes on wet pavement after that.

      Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.

      Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
