Luckiest "Hacker" Around...

I've got to be the luckiest Hacker out here. I shot my second eagle ever last weekend. I strung together 2 beautiful shots and a lucky putt on the 15th at Quail Ridge, here in Bartlett, Tn (15th hole, a 477 yd par 5). First eagle ever was last year with a lightning bolt of luck from about 130 yards out.

I still haven't shot lower than a 96 and I started playing about a year and a half ago...this is killing me!

I need to find the time to get out more than once every 4-6 weeks.

Congrats - I have a buddy of mine - 9 handicap - good stick who has never had an eagle. He is so itching to get one too and it just hasn't happened.

Give yourself just a little credit; you did have to string together the two great shots for the "lucky" putt to matter so you're doing something right.

I've played Quail Ridge quite a bit and no eagles for me :) . If that's where you're playing and you're shooting 96 from the blues after a year or so I'd say that's quite respectable. I signed up as a member at Stonebridge last week, I think having a flat cost for unlimited access will really help with the practice time. Maybe I'll get luckier with more practice.

A hole in one is also an eagle, so clearly a hole in one is more difficult to get since you've only got four realistic shots at it, while you have 18 shots at eagle.

More seriously, and limiting eagles to 3s on par 5s, an eagle's more difficult for a hacker. Requires three good or lucky shots instead of just one. An eagle is a lot easier than a HIO for a pro or low handicapper because luck is removed from the equation (for the most part).

I'd guess that since you can give yourself an optimum lie (using a tee, etc), a hole-in-one is easier than an eagle. Of course that could be offset by the pressure of having 3 other guys directly behind you on the tee box intently watching your shot.

cool....congrats. I've hit the pin so many times it kills me none of them have ever made their way down to the hole.

it's nice to say that you've had a couple eagles though...again, CONGRATS!!

After playing EA Sports TW 08 I can now agree :)

Eagles come far easier than HIO. Still looking for my first despite many eagles.

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
